  1. That's two riders, both rode for the club in one season 2013, and both have not return to the club. In the case of Maassen he rode so few meetings he did not qualify as an asset of the club.
  2. Interesting you use Sheffield as a platform for your views. Look at Sheffield teams past and present and you will see that the teams has more than there fair share of British riders.
  3. From where we were stood he looking slightly quicker than Josh Auty, and I think he looked better than I thought he would. But they all looked good or poor going around in practice it is difficult to pick out whether or not that the lad will be any good.
  4. Congratulations to Glasgow and all the best for the final. Richard Lawson may not be classed as a dirty rider, but move he made on Garrity was definitely suss, and after the league match at Glasgow where he took Jason out no he is not that popular and I think if it was the other way around we would be hearing a lot more about it. In saying that I think the best team over two legs won, and tonight we did not ride as well as we could do and Glasgow did a number on us. Oh yes.
  5. To put the record straight, I don't have anything against Darcy Ward. He is a very talented naturally gifted rider, he has made some poor career decisions and up to now he has abused his talent. And yes he is box office. What I don't need is to hear that, for what seemed every ten minutes. Darcy is back, after umpteen months serving a ban. Darcy is such a talent. Darcy can team ride. Darcy can gate. Or What's it like not having Darcy in your team (Poole riders) Or What's it like having having Darcy in your team (Swindon riders) Was there a competition to see how many times one presenter could utter Darcy Ward. Last night was overkill on magnanimous scale.
  6. Well I did not see that one coming. Well Done the Tigers, that Play Off place looks to be on.
  7. Well Done the Scottish Tigers, after what has happened to the club over the last couple of days I honestly thought they might just be there for the taking today. As for the Comets has to be an opportunity missed, and once again they appear to be the perennial underachievers, you have to feel for the Promotion they constantly put some very attractive and promising team, that always seems to fall short.
  8. Could be a very interesting meeting as the with the wonderful world of British speedway we are possibly stronger with the enforced changes that we have to make. Maybe we can just maybe come away from Brough Park with a point.
  9. A good Sheffield performance last night, and frankly Berwick were not that good. Strange having a meeting against Berwick with no Shadders and Bandits 4va. The meeting did drag on, but they did have a break for the sun early on in the meeting (seems to be fashionable these days), and I don't think it helped by the fact that both teams were using rider replacement which meant riders taking consecutive rides. But I could not understand the need for an interval towards the very end of the meeting. In saying that the Promotion in general this season made big improvements to the timings and presentations of meeting and last night was more of an exception to the rule. As for the teams performances only once did Sheffield not provide the race winner which showed how dominant we were as a team. Looking at the table after last nights result the Play Offs looking a distinct possibility, but even if we don't make it I think that we have done well considering the injures this season and where we have been with the League positions for the last three seasons. As for Berwick I cannot see them getting into the Play Offs, injury problems and some the Bandit riders who are not quite performing to their true potential.
  10. Anders Thomsen would be decent shout in my opinion.
  11. Not quite what we are looking for at this present moment
  12. Depends where in Poland they come from, speedway in Poland pretty much renationalised.
  13. Lets hope that Rob Godfrey get things sorted at Scunny, the man has worked hard to bring good entertaining speedway to the city of Scunthorpe. Will Scunny get the crowds they need, is the million dollar question. I seem to recall at the start of the season that Rob was saying needed more bodies through the gates. No denying that Scunny have alot of bad luck with injuries and it is going to take mammoth task to attract more fans when the team is the wrong end of the table. Lets hope that they are succesful.
  14. Nightmares for Monarchs fans Speedway Gold for Sheffield fans. The Sheffield Promotion even had to cancel the end of season firework display.
  15. Did he really beat a 14 year old Robert Lambert? You never know he might comeback to Sheffield get a 21 point maximum and smash the track record. But then again he might not.
  16. Having seen the lad ride for Sheffield a few seasons ago, I would say that unless he has made some rapid improvements I think that you have signed a dud Ans here is your man having a spin around Rye 3 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbiXgHjqoiY
  17. Seems to be the fashionable thing to do, he no more wild or irresponsible than some others, funny how James Sarjeant went on record on the a SKY to say how much he trust Jason and how much he would not ride with anyone else in the Elite League.
  18. Time to move on, result stands nothing going to change the result, no matter what any of us think about the track. Glasgow have a 14 point advantage to bring to Sheffield that they will try and defend. Lets have them at Sheffield and see what they can do, a word of warning a wounded Yorkshire Tiger is dangerous and don't be surprised if you walk away empty handed.
  19. Putting aside the track debates and who knows what and who is to blame. We bring Glasgow back to Sheffield a fortnight tomorrow. Personally I think 14 points might be a bit too much for us to make up, but I remember another Scottish team coming for a Semi Final defending a much bigger lead and we turned them over. So you never know.
  20. i would try looking at the updates. Nick Morris wins heat 1 with a new track record. Nick Morris crashes in heat 6 and withdraws from the meeting.
  21. Its not just the Guest rider situation that is becoming a problem there is also the doubling up that causes problems as well. Add to that the strict points limit, the sport is run on the obsession of trying to level teams which can make the sport either attractive or not depending on how you feel about the situation. Allow more Elite League riders into the Premier League is not answer in my opinion because you are going to get more and more fixture clashes for doubling up riders, unless the Elite was going to run one night only. As for Sheffield I think if Ty Proctor had not received his marching orders I think you would have seen a full Sheffield 1 to 7 when David Bellego returned.
  22. Unfair advantage when that rider is the top rider in that league? Fail to see what your number dropping to reserve has to do with it.
