  1. Very happy with the team select especially when you consider the head start we gave most teams in the league regarding team building the team is for me competitive. Sorry to see our El Tigre Argentino Facu Albin not getting a team place, but who knows maybe one day we will see him return to the club, where there will always be a warm welcome to our Mr Entertainment.
  2. I think if we was talking about a rider who was around 25 years old and had been hanging around the National League for 5 or 6 seasons I might possibly see your point. But it was a 16 year old kid who had the balls to take up the challenge at Scunny, and unfortunately it did not work out, does not mean that at 16 you dump the fella on the scrap because he failed at the first hurdle. I think you find that the lad will have learnt from that experience and will be better, in fact he did as Halifax Tiger says some very good Guest bookings for Edinburgh last season and I believe he even managed to lower the colours of one of the best riders in the Premier League Jason Doyle so he does have something about him and he is very young so chances are he will only get better. I can also see why people would like to see Facu back but, it has to be said his equipment was at times very sub standard and let him down, yes he was a racer and and yes he was very exciting but for him to be competitive he has to have a decent engine to score points and there lies the problem with him.
  3. When you look at the riders available the best option certainly looks like Andre and one other would best possible option, and the chances are that we can start with Andre at reserve which has be seriously considered. If you bring in Facu or Damien you are looking at up to 5.59 left from Facu and 6.21 for Damien, the big problem is there is not many riders out there or available that would fit in.
  4. Have to totally agree, the balance of the team looks really good, experience and youth, racers and gaters I think the Screen/ Stead Team Manager/ Team Captain combination is excellent for the club and I can only see the club going from strength to strength as the season goes along. As for Leigh I thin that we are looking at a solid team heatleader, the one thing I do expect him to do is be the rider who leads the team on on the smaller more technical tracks,. Will be interesting to see who the final two riders are but for me the team is a competitive one which the Promotion has done well to put together. .
  5. Or former Aussie 2nd halfer Sam Dore's brother Corey.
  6. Not quite right, apparently they are signing the new hot prospect Drew Peacock.
  7. What I cannot understand is how Rye and Tyson Nelson have been caught out again. Once is unfortunate, but twice in the space of three years is very clumsy and with Len Silver been involved in the travel business you would think that he would have a greater understanding if the situation.
  8. For me start of a new era, and the new Promotion seem to have capture everyones imagination the hardcore supporters like myself and the floating supporters, Neil Machin was a man of his time and he did a hell of a lot for the club, and we should never ever forget that, but the sport has moved on and having one man band Promoters will be a rare commodity in the future in my opinion, and feel that Neil did the right thing for the club and himself as I think the club had lost its way a wee bit. But the days of one man footing the bills and trying to make a sports club a profit are thing of the past in my opinion and the way to go is through a consortium to run clubs for the future. The new Promotion have made some excellent choices and decisions in my opinion in the short space of time that they have had the club and like many others have said and like everyone else has said after months of uncertainty and worry I now feel very positive about my speedway club Looking at the league with the exception of Workington and Scunthorpe who are the stand out teams in the league the rest of us are all pretty evenly matched and for me the 4 other play off places could go to anyone in the league.. The last two signings I think will be Andre Compton, and if I am hoest I would love to see Stefan Nielsen grab the last spot would give us a good balance of experience and youth.
  9. That was Stefan he finished with a 4.90 average, but would qualify for a 2.5% reduction for been a young Brit.
  10. Bearing in mind we have given most teams two or three months start in team building I think that the Promotion have done an excellent job regarding the team. There is an excellent balance of experience ad youth, and something that no one else has mentioned none of the top three are tied into racing for an Elite League team.
  11. Very happy with the way things are going regarding team building, got the makings of a tidy team that I think will do well.
  12. Not so sure that there has been doom and gloom, one person makes a point that a good competitor in a sport does necessarily make a good Manager, which is true, but who knows whether or not Joe will make a good Manager. My feeling is that alongside Simon Stead as captain we have for me and other Sheffield fans the Dream Team, and put a bit more life into the team and give us something to cheer about which for the last couple of seasons which has been hard work supporting the team. I honestly believe that the the new Promotion have there finger on the pulse and have picked up on what the fans want and so far they have delivered with the changes to the Team Management and the Team its self.
  13. You are right in what you say, and there are no guarantees in sport, but I think the combination of Screeny as Team Manager and Simon Stead as captain I think that they will be a cracking combination, and I think that they will work well together. It could be construed as been a bit of a gamble but I think it might just pay off for the club.
  14. Screeny the new Team Manager, and Josh Bates added to the line up. http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/other-sports/speedway/speedway-legend-joe-passes-tigers-screen-test-1-6386738 Wonder if he will treat the riders to ride like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUw_cs6CsEs
  15. I wonder if Screeny has heard about the chicken wraps that they sell in the cafe on Thursday.
  16. Even Biker FM presenters Griff and Scott joining in the guessing game as to who the Sheffield mystery rider is.
  17. And Good Luck to lad if that is the case and we move on. End of the day it was an option that we had to sign him, and according to the Swindon Promotion he asked to ride for Sheffield.
  18. Looks like we have Good News coming our way soon.
  19. To be fair I think that fans of the club have been pretty patient, and I think that Dave Hoggart and the unnamed consortium recognise that. The main problem appears to be all the legal problems, but fans have been told that this should be sorted very soon. Like I have said there are still riders out there for the new promotion to go for that would make up an exciting team. The league this year looks as good as ever with every team been pretty even with the exception of the two stand out teams for me Scunny and Workington. Two ways the team build ing can go; (1) Bring in Nick Morris who appears to want to ride for club and would give us not only a powerful top three but one that would excite and entertain the fans. or (2) Build a team around Simon Stead and more depth to it. Either way I think that we could still be in with a chance of a play off place with the other 10 teams chasing Scunny and Workington.
  20. Maybe but his Girlfriend lives in Chesterfield, so I would guess that he is going to be living with her, and Sheffield is closer to Chesterfield than Manchester, don't forget he is asking for a Sheffield based mechanic, he has not stated that he is living in Sheffield.
  21. Yeah with Belle Vue looking for a rider of 3.13 and not a doubling up rider Mr Palm Toft could be signing for Belle Vue.
