A very pleasing result Scunny are a good team even without Ryan Douglas I thought that at the moment they would have enough in the tank to beat us. But I am also over the moon for the new Promoters, to get off at the start with a win, and not only that but our most local rivals makes the victory even sweeter.

So there was no Team race suits then.

All fair comments.

To be fair of the three changes two were enforced upon the Somerset Promotion. (1) When the Brady Kurtz average had to be change.(Forced) (2) Jason Doyle visa (forced) (3) Dropping Ty Proctor. So really it was only one change. I do think that the Ty Proctor was a harsh one, but some teams do operate like that and make changes at whim, and like any changes sometimes they pay off sometimes they don't. At my own club Sheffield we have tended to operate a bit different over the years where riders have been given plenty of chance to sort out there form, mind you in saying that I think there have been times where we have hung on to riders to long. I think though that some of the Somerset fans on here have been a little tad over sensitive.

No sour grapes here mate, just discussion, and opinion is that what a forum is all about. Or is no one allowed to comment or ask any questions about another team. Lets face it three changes to Somerset line up before a wheel has been turned gives people something to discuss. Of course some will have stronger views than others, for me the whole Nick Morris thing has fascinated me with its twists and turns.
-
Okay fair play the fact that they have got him in the team this quickly proves that they had it in the back of their mind that they were thinking about bringing him back sooner or later. Makes you wonder what they would have done if Sheffield had followed up Nick Morris interest in joining Sheffield and signed Nick. But that another thread.

To be fair I did not see the Somerset press release, but it will interesting to see how many meetings he will miss, to be honest I don't think that there has been a major fixture change or what ever the changes to his racing diary. Did not Nick Morris, ask to be released from his contract from Swindon to sign for Sheffield the catalyst to that move was down to the Somerset Promotion, that suggests to me that the lad was upset. But at the end of the day Nick now has a team place at Somerset where originally signed for which suggests that Somerset was where he really wanted to be. I do feel for Proctor, bit of a knee jerk reaction dropping him, and I don't think that the Somerset Promotion come out of this smelling of roses, but they will do what they have to do to get success.
-
You do have to wonder though how popular Nick is with the promotion. They dropped him when the problems happened regarding Brady Kurtz average. Then they over looked him when they found out that they were not able to use Jason Doyle through visa problems. As you have pointed out on another thread he should have got the gig when Ty Proctor replaced Jason Doyle, personally I thought that was a strange decision and a slap in the face for Nick.

Somerset = Ruthless I don't think I have ever seen a club release a rider to bring in another without a wheel been turned. In saying that I was surprised to see that when Jason Doyle was not coming back that they went for Ty Proctor rather than Nick Morris. I am also surprised that Nick Morris would want to go back to Somerset, after been dropped and then over looked.

Which Pl Team Will Nick Morris Join In June?
spin king replied to Hamish McRaker's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think that he will leave Swindon and run away to Sheffield. Who will have fixed their riders averages to fit him in. Sheffield will then win ever meeting 75 - 15 home and away. Qualify for the Play Off's. And storm the League title. Oh and while he is helping us to the Premier League title, we will allow him yo double up with Leicester and they will shock the Elite League world when they storm to win the title in their first season. -
Stoke and Sheffield was a pretty heated rivalry.
-
I am hoping that Big Joe will juggle the riding around. For home meetings I would go with. (1) Simon Stead (2) Simon Nielsen (3) Taylor Poole (4) Leigh Lanham (5) Adam Roynon (6) Josh Bates (7) Andre Compton then for away meetings (1) Simon Stead (2) Simon Nielsen (3) Taylor Poole (4\) Adam Roynon (5) Leigh Lanham (6) Andre Compton (7) Josh Bates

Certainly hope so, the last couple of seasons have been dank, dismal and depressing/ Have more fun at funeral.

Probably down to wanting to take the club in different directions. I suppose we will never find out, unless one or both parties reveal what those were, but that would be up to either or both parties to do so. Like I say I liked the Dave Hoggart found him very approachable, but I also like what the consortium have done so far and I like the fact that appear to listen to the fans and take on board what the fans are saying, and as much as I admired Neil Machin I do feel he had lost sight of fans. At the end of the day when businesses are taken over and especially sports clubs there will be people who leave or are asked to leave. But for the first time since 2011 I feel confident about my speedway team, and what they can achieve, and not wish ing to sound too harsh but that is all I really want with or without Dave Hoggart.
-
I had a similar situation myself, coming back from the bar with drinks in both my hands stopped in same area, admittedly was not offered a fist fight but a simple polite request to move would have sufficed rather than the abuse I got. Also witnessed them holding up a coach full of supporters trying to get out of the stadium because the coach had not parked completely in the correct position, again the abuse thrown at the coach driver was not warranted.

Peterborough Panthers 2014
spin king replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair enough, but this season the Elite League is only 13 heats long this season. The other two heats are of manily National League standard, where the draft riders compete. -

Is there any difference between the two leagues anymore? -
Much as I feel for Dave Hoggart, and yes I am disappointed that the consortium deem him to be surplus to requirement. But my main objectives for the club this season were. (1) Someone who a group of people would takeover the club. (2) We have a decent team. (3) We have a team that will entertain me. And at the moment all those boxes have been ticked. Who runs the club is pretty much immaterial to me. Like I say I think it is sad to see Dave Hoggart been surplus to requirement, but when their are takeovers there does tend to be casualties and it appears that has happened to Dave. But the fact that there was people prepared to take the club on after spending the winter wondering whether I am going to have a team to support means that I am happy with the team to support and I feel a competitive team. Who the consortium is, is irrelevant to me.

Peterborough Panthers 2014

New season approaching and you say your interest is nil in Panthers and British Speedway. Questions are. Why go onto the Peterborough thread? Why go on.British Speedway forum? . -
Just seen the news. These things do happen when takeovers happen, and sometimes there are casualties and people leave the club, and it would appear that the other consortium members are wanting to take the club in a different direction to David, its sad especially when you look at the hard word David put in to finding the consortium. But this is a new era and we move on time will tell whether or not it was a good move, but as a club we need to move on. As for Dave I had plenty of run ins with him, but he was a very approachable guy who would always give me an answer to my questions, and for that I respect him, and I hope that he is not lost to speedway he still has something to offer some speedway club, and I wish him all the best for the future.. Sad day but as a speedway club we move on upwards and onwards/

Thoroughly enjoyed last night. Sean Wilson and The Flyer Wyer were excellent value for money, hopefully we will see more of Sean at Sheffield, and nice to see that Doug is going to help Josh Bates with his gating. All the other Legends were good value for money as well. Not too sure whether the Hoggy rumour is true or not, I hope not I think that he still has something to offer the club, and he did some sterling work getting the consortium together, but if he has left then I wish him all the best.

The Screen/ Sheffield and Havvy/ Coventry connections really does bug you/

Possibly one of the saddest post I ever regarding speedway. Anyone who knows Vog will tell you he is the most laid back guy you could ever wish to meet, for him to come out and state he is feeling this way should be a wake up call for the Promotion.
