  1. Just seen the track - I'm no expert but I cannot see this going ahead and an early decision helps all
  2. It's been heavy for circa 45 mins , somebody should be making a decision based on the forecasts
  3. Does anybody in the Fayre is on this year at the Rugby Club and what time it opens ? Many Thanks Chris
  4. I've been here since 3.25 and it's lashing it down , with the forecast having changed at 3.30 with rain until 8pm I cannot see a hope this meeting goes ahead , hope I'm wrong but not sure covers will protect the track with this much rain
  5. lol , thanks for the kind offer ( I think ) .. enjoy
  6. As always looking forward to my annual trip to Cardiff , unusually going on my own this year but really look forward to it and the Pairs at Somerset I really enjoy , also setting off Thursday so make take Swindon in as not far from my stay over in Newport .... Chris
  7. Well that was a throughly enjoyable trip , covered over 900 miles in 4 days and saw some truly stunning parts of the UK including Bakewell , Eyam , Pease Beach , Holy Island , Bamburg , Seahouses etc etc and the weather was glorious.. Starting with Sheffield , lovely facilities at Owlerton ( even popped into the Casino next door ! ) but the lack of over taking and the Berwick team who couldn't gate for toffee meant a very one sided fixture and a complete hammering and as a neutral not much of a match but a decent crowd , nice food and a good start , Edinburgh a lovely warm welcoming set of fans and a good bar , eating and club shop merchandise but again the meeting was very one sided versus Scunthorpe and the home riders of Masters , Wells and the impressive first time seen Pickering together with the Riss brothers made it again a tad non event for the neutral but left feeling the racing was a tad better than Sheffield and was glad to see Auty get up after his crash , next was Berwick and that is a very different track , huge bends and a narrow entrance into the straight but saw some good racing ( the round the boards from Bridger was superb and the over take from Doolan from 3rd to 1st ) and a closer meeting and another close up view of the Aussie Pickering made me think just how good is this lad going to be , Masters was at times held and shoulders together with Wells above the rest and the Burger was the best at Berwick , nice array of merchandise and met Havvy who was as welcoming as always ( Cheers Gary ) and went home having enjoyed this meeting and another good crowd including a good following from Edinburgh and lastly onto Scunthorpe , best racing of the four with some superb over takes , a nasty looking crash from Williamson ( who I think was ok ) , some good riding from Auty to grab the win by the scruff of the neck and a good welcoming crowd ( Speedway fans are like no others - stand on your own and get chatting like you've known somebody for years ) , facilities not the best ( couldn't see any Merchandise for sale / programme a bit naff ) but the club house when fully operational looks good , got home 10pm Sunday and already planing my next trip of four later in the year .... Chris

  9. Thanks Gunner , I will check that out , very much appreciated , Ill hope its open Cheers Chris
  10. Hi all, don't post much but do read plenty of content . , get little time off work but cannot wait to see the following fixtures next week Travelling on my own from Preston , Lancs to Sheffield to see the fixture versus Berwick on the 6th April , spending the night in Sheffield and making the journey north to Edinburgh to watch the Monarchs v Scunthorpe on the 7th April and tucked into a nice ( hopefully ) little B and B , then plan on having the day around the Lindisfarm area on the saturday before travelling to watch the Bandits take on Edinburgh on the 8th April then spending the night in a little B and B on the outskirts of Berwick before travelling down the coast to get to the Eddie Wright Raceway to watch Scunthorpe host Glasgow on the 9th April and then home to Preston , circa 770 miles and 4 meetings in 4 days and looking at the weather ( pray to the gods ) which all looks good at present and a couple of new tracks for me - Berwick and Edinburgh and any advice / places to visit would be very much appreciated and if anybody is at those fixtures then I hope the racing is good and Ill be the one stood on my own and possibly asleep I know this sport gets bashed plenty but I love it and have been awaiting this for a good few weeks .... Chris
  11. When I went to Fast Freddie's Testimonial at Monmore a couple of seasons back and the race jackets where being auctioned off at the end - only one I really wanted and that was the class rider/bloke that is PK , was lucky enough to win the jacket and get the man himself to sign it ( together with FF ) and it sits pride of place framed in the office next to my Rico Race Jacket ...top bloke who has been a true ambassador to British Speedway , will be sorely missed Highlight of the night on Wed was seeing PK saying his goodbye's .....
  12. I was at Belle Vue but frankly was enjoying my Burger and Hot Dog to much to give anybody any stick : ) Life is to short , it was a superb meeting and congratulations to Wolves - deserved winners Tai is a quality rider and double world champion , met him on a couple of occasions and not a lot of time for the chap in honesty but not denying his ability on a bike but not my cup of tea / but may mature with age But the 15 Year old daughter thinks he is great and thats what got her into the sport so not all bad , she's like a walking TW shop and it does generate conversation amongst her friends and her pride and joy is a Tai Race Jacket so what makes her happy makes me
  13. Very sad to read this today , a real proper club that I have enjoyed making a visit to from Preston for the past three seasons , really hope Workington don't pack up
  14. As a Belle Vue fan genuinely thought we would be going into the second leg 8-10 points behind , looking forward to a good nights racing but cannot for one second with Woffinden , Masters , Lindgren and Thorsell how Wolves will not score the desired points required to secure the title , rate the Aces chances at less than 5% but however slim as long as its a decent meeting , nobody gets injured then I will applaud the winners Wolves
  15. I love Speedway , always have always will , Im a glass half full type of chap and naive perhaps ignore the negatives and enjoy the positives , the daughter loves the sport ... , the smell , the racing when good is good and outweighs any other sport , I collect Badges and Programmes and enjoy doing that and have done so for a few years and my passion for the sport is as strong as it was when my dad took me to Belle Vue every home watch Adore the sport , maybe Im easily satisfied but cannot imagine not going , watching Speedway
  16. Thanks very much for the replies Will keep you posted upon what I book but very much appreciated - Sweden does indeed sound good Thanks Chriis
  17. Hi all Dont post on here much so be friendly , my daughter who is Speedway mad and got into the sport a couple of years ago ( been to Cardiff for the GP , Belle Vue , Workington , Buxton and Scunthorpe this year ) has asked for her 16th Birthday/GCSE results for a GP abroad ( ruled out Australia due to cost ) and wondered what in peoples opinion would be a good venue ( will go via Speedway Travel Tours ) for a trip and some good Speedway , my initial thoughts where Poland as the fans are so passionate ( Ive only done Torun when Tai won his his first World Title ) ... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated Thanks Chris
  18. Thanks for the info - always park on the school car park but clearly not this time , off today so will arriving 4pm ish but seems sensible to use the park and ride Cheers Rob Chris
  19. Setting off from Preston tomorrow Cannot wait - just on my own - Swindon first time on Thursday , Pairs which is always enjoyable and then Cardiff - 3 Nights sorted at my usual beautiful countryside retreat ... 750 miles , loads of money spent , save up all year and intend to enjoy every minute Doing the Darcy Ward 1% walk , hope to meet some good people , chat Speedway and get home safely Enjoy all its a great Sport Chris
  20. I get to very few Speedway meetings in a year but have managed Workington and Scunthorpe this year and am looking forward to the meeting tonight after being at the fiasco of the Peter Craven Memorial , speedway has its issues but tonight Im looking forward to watching the best sport bar none Chris
