  1. Hi all , Scunthorpe was one of those clubs/tracks determined to visit in 2016 as I believe its as good as any out there , after the Belle Vue Fiasco need a Speedway Fix and this sounds a cracker , only concern is the weather forecast - coming from Preston with the family ( 2 Young Children ) so any advice / updates on possible postponement etc would be appreciated as will be setting off lunchtime and not sure the kids could take another postponement after Belle Vue a few days ago !! Cheers Chris
  2. Really cannot wait to attend this meeting with my daughter , was hoping to be there nice and early but she has a Taekwondo grading finishing at 4pm in Blackpool so a quick 60 mile dash should be ok for a 6pm start ( hope it starts a tad later ! ) , any update on parking as arriving 5.30-5.45pm any info would be superb e.g. is Showcase ok as mentioned a few pages back ? Thanks Chris
  3. My 14 year old daughter loves the Speedway and the GP last year at Cardiff she loved - I asked her over Christmas what she liked and didn't about the Sport Likes Tai Woffiden ! The speed and smell Crashes Writing the scores in Getting signatures and selfies with the Riders Dislikes Poor facilities Time waiting for the races Tractor going around/Poor Commentary Uncool hobby amongst her friends ( interesting ) And the best comment she made ' Its such a great sport dad compared to Football and the Darts ' - both those IMO are in the 21st Century - Im sure we can learn something from the Darts
  4. Just a quick question - planning on taking the family ( 4 Year Old and 14 Year Old ) but assume there is no family package other than standing ? - just looks to be full price for the GranStands or Im missing something Not the end of the world if it is - won't be paying for 4 adults for the Grandstand when 2 are children but will just buy the superb family package and stand although just wondering what kind of view if any the children will get ? Any thoughts appreciated Cheers Chris
  5. A club Ive never visited but heard such good things about - will ensure in 2016 this is a Track I get to , great news re Scunthorpe
  6. I like Hancock a lot but he had to receive a ban for his behaviour - no justification from Greg at all - he should accept it and move on IMO
  7. Tickets bought ...can only see positives from the new Stadium
  8. Rarely get a weekend off work so have to say always look forward to this , travelling down as usual on the Friday and staying at the same lovely Cottage just outside Newport , off to the Pairs , daughter going to her first ever GP Meeting and looking forward to a superb weekend ...Speedway ...Buy a load of Badges .....Speedway .... Chris
  9. Hi - sorry missed the reply I have to say that the Motherwell Badge from 1951 the Eagles is amongst my favourite , also like the Buxton Badges from the 2000's onwards and the Leeds Badge is pride of place from 1938 - also just added to the collection a Harringay Fob from 1938 which is unusual and nice Cheers
  10. Good look with rebuilding your dads collection , the original Wigan badges do appear on Ebay from time to time I purchased mine off Tony above ( city rebel ) back in Jan 2012 ( seen further ones noted in April 13 and Jan 14 ) Cityrebel I would recommend on Ebay if you purchase - items always spot on and as described ** Further discount in the future please Tony *
  11. Travelling the 120 miles from Preston for this one as really enjoyed my first visit to Derwent Park last year with the daughter ( wife and 4 year old in tow this time for their first meeting ) ..... just hoping the weather remains fair tomorrow and the meeting goes ahead , daughter super excited as really enjoyed the day out last year v Edinburgh Chris
  12. Hi , I was stood right next to you when you purchased the Ricky Ashworth Bike Covers - delighted you got them and had a safe journey home , I had a superb day and seeing Ricky in the car and speaking to his dad in the Panorama Bar was humbling , weather was great , the riders all played there part and I thought I had the winning bid of £200 for the Race Jacket signed by all the riders but was delighted it squeezed another £10 and every penny counts , wasn't going to deny Stead his race jacket back ! and the daughter is delighted that I purchased her the Auty Race Jacket as she quite a fan .... got home gone midnight with a smile still on my face , the Speedway community did Ricky proud - was a truly superb day organised by Julie Reading etc who deserve all the praise in the world for there dedication and effort to have got this meeting on and for it to have gone as smoothly as it did - Many Thanks from Chris and Lauren Rigby to Julie -
  13. Really hope this turns out to be a bumper crowd , looks an excellent line up of Riders ( at one of the best UK tracks IMO ) and would be superb to see 2000 + for this meeting ... Me and the daughter travelling from Preston for the meeting and really looking forward to it ....
  14. Starting collecting Badges in Oct 2011 and through Ebay ( 95% ) as a hobby has grown to a decent collection of 1187 ( and counting ) ranging from a good few rare badges to the mass produced badges from the 1970's to a good few overpaid in my collection and was wondering ( as I only know a couple of collectors/sellers ) who else collects badges / programmes ( only purchased around 20 programmes mainly rare ish ones from the 1930's ) , real geek alert that they are all in lovely glass boxes !! and enjoy the hobby thats takes me away form the daily stress of work etc ... Just wondered how many of us are out there in the world of badge collecting ? ( Speedway1927 on Ebay ) ....or collect other Speedway items - Race Jackets/Photos etc Cheers Chris
  15. Truly inspiration video and I hope and pray that Ricky continues on the road to recovery , his dad is clearly a proud and superb person who loves his son to the end of the earth and Ricky's fight should be an inspiration to us all I will be at Sheffield in March and knowing the Speedway Community it will be a superb day Keep fighting Ricky
  16. It is a superb DVD indeed as is Defunct Tracks IMO ..some grainy footage and quite a bit of the Zoo at Hyde Rd but some really great stuff - Rochdale looked cold watching it on Tele !!!!
  17. 18. I love the whole weekend experience of the GP - setting off from Sunny Preston ( not often I type that ) early tomm stop at Kidderminster to pick up another Speedway Fanatic and head off to the Pairs at Somerset , stay in a lovely B&B run by Sue in a beautiful village on the outskirts of Newport ....get into Cardiff nice and early meet up with my dad who is travelling down on the Sat with my 2 Nephews ( New to the Sport aged 11 and 13 ) watch Woffie win the GP , back to Newport and the Annual Visit to the superb Curry House , total indulgence , travel back to Preston dropping me old mucker off on the way - arrive home few hrs kip and then set off 7am the next day for a family holiday to France and Belgium ( doing vast areas of WW1 for the Centenary ) and then finish off at Euro Disney .........if it all comes off a superb 17 days off work ( that in itself is enough ) Cannot wait Chris
  19. Hi , the Arena Essex ones from 1989 I picked up recently on Ebay for £2 a piece - they will come along soon enough again , Lakeside 2008 and 2012 - SpeedHammer on Ebay might be the man for those - he seems to be up on the Arena Essex/Lakeside Badges and the Ipswich one from 2010 can be tricky to find ..good luck Chris
  20. Man and Boy North End and Belle Vue - a combined total of 80 years support , perhaps a combined total of about 10 decent seasons in the lot !! Chris
