  1. Saturday August 08, 2015 COVENTRY stage a 30-heat National League double header at Brandon on Sunday - and the coming weeks are crucial to the Storm's future existence. The launch of the Storm in 2013 has seen the emergence of several fine prospects for the future, including the likes of current Bees reserve James Sarjeant, British Under-19 champions Ollie Greenwood and Stefan Nielsen and current No.1 and skipper Dan Greenwood. After reaching the Final last year, 2015 has been more of a rebuilding exercise with a low points limit imposed at the winter AGM, but the City Gearboxes Storm are still well-placed to finish in the top four as long as they can win the majority of their home matches. Club owner Mick Horton admits those home matches do need to be better attended if the Storm are to be able to continue into 2016. King's Lynn and Stoke provide the opposition at Brandon on Sunday, and both are in the top four battle with the Storm - King's Lynn after an impressive home win over title-chasing Eastbourne on Friday. Horton said: "Were in a serious dilemma because at the moment it really isnt viable for us to run in the National League. The support for the Bees is absolutely tremendous, weve had some great crowds especially recently, but the future of the sport is the youngsters and we want to keep bringing them through. For us to have a chance of keeping the youngsters riding and progressing with us for the future, we need the fans to come and support them. We have two matches on Sunday afternoon, its going to be a full afternoon of racing, and Id urge everyone to get behind us so we can continue beyond this season. Sunday's action gets underway at 2pm, with adult admission just £15 for a 30-heat programme of racing. I can see where Horton is coming from. I was surprised during the fours & the last home meeting how few people were there supporting the Storm. We said ourselves that we would be surprised if it runs again next year. I think what hasn't helped is the fixture planning where we have had all our away fixtures early on and then have to wait until end of July before our season at home starts. I think the team isn't the most exciting either. Last year you had riders like Sarjeant,Stefan & Ollie and it was exciting watching them progress. This year the team lacks that. The bees meetings have been packed this season so hopefully some of the Coventry Bees fans will give it a chance on Sunday now we are back to a full team.
  2. The fours moved at a good rate. The only delay there really was due to a member of the crowd needing medical attention and that's beyond anybody's control.
  3. Great win for Rangers tonight. Let's hope it's the first of many 👍🏻 Edinburgh lost at home to Peterborough 44-45
  4. It doesn't really matter what we suggest on here. We do it every year and makes no difference.
  5. Can't see them replacing Milik as only just signed him however could maybe use Dakota North if rumours turn out to be true and he is one of the riders Poole release. If not Maybe North might get signed by one of the other teams looking for a 5/6pt 2nd string 😉
  6. Lakeside's team 1) Andreas Jonsson, 2) Richard Lawson, 3) Edward Kennett 4) Mikkel Bech 5) Dakota North (G) 6) Richard Hall (G) 7) Adam Ellis. Belle Vue are going to have to be on top form as Lakeside pushed them close on their last visit & Dakota North was Poole's stand out rider on his last visit.
  7. COLLECTION FOR KERR Friday August 07, 2015 COVENTRY will be holding a collection for Lewis Kerr at our next Elite League home fixture. This will be when the Buildbase Bees face Leicester at Brandon on Friday August 14. Lewis remains in Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge following his horrific crash in the Premier League Fours last weekend. Recent updates have thankfully offered encouragement, but there is still a very long journey ahead.
  8. Thanks Neil. £15 for 30 heats sounds good. 👍🏻
  9. Has been amazing for us. Harris & Joonas have been quite consistent with good scores at home and King rides above his 5 average at Brandon. Don't think I need to say much about Andersen's form this year 😁 Whatever happens come Sep, this has been one of the most exciting bees teams we have had home & away in a long time 😄
  10. Your not the first person to say that. That way Garrity could also have a bit of a say In who he might race in the Semi final IF we finish top 😉
  11. Of course and even worse luck was the lack of rider availability e.g Bad luck of Kcrmar being suddenly unavailable against Lakeside due to having a meeting the following night.
  12. @SkySpeedway: Speedway on Sky Sports August 11, 19 & 31 September 9, Play offs both meets Sept 14 & 21 Grand Final both legs 28 & 30 Maybe it's just me but with only 4 meetings left to be televised before the play offs, I feel like there haven't been many on at all this season. Think they have missed the opportunity of a close meeting in the Belle Vue V Swindon one on 17th.
  13. Looking at the remaining fixtures I think Swindon could finish 3rd. They should be able to win their three remaining home fixtures. I can see them picking up a win at Wolves, possibly points at Belle Vue and Coventry as riders good on those tracks. For Belle Vue I think the only team that might challenge them at home is Swindon (why is this not on TV that week instead of Poole & Swindon which looks likely to be more one sided again?) An away win is also possible at Wolves. Belle Vue have drawn at Poole before so wouldn't rule out a point there. Sadly to me King's Lynn look most at risk of missing out. Even if they win their remaining 3 home fixtures (I can see Poole stopping that from happening) I think they could struggle to pick up wins away Having only scored 9 all season away from home, I think that is where they will falter. Predict play offs to be: Coventry, Poole, Swindon and Belle Vue
  14. Garrity has already said he doesn't want to be in the draft next year and is hoping to be in Coventry's 1-5. Coventry could always protect their asset Ben Barker in the draft next year though 😉 (joking a side, that would be madness if he's allowed in the draft)
  15. Always strange when these two teams meet as Cradley got an away win on their home track.
  16. Well done Belle Vue. Back in 4th place. It's good to see Josh back racing as well. On a positive note for Wolves, it sounds like Musielak & PK were riding much better tonight
  17. TBH looking at the Leicester line up tonight esp the weakness at reserve, I would be worried if they weren't all scoring high points. Poole should easy hit 55+
  18. Thanks. That's a relief. Hope the injured riders are okay. X
  19. Thanks. Hope it's nothing serious for either. Too many injuries.
  20. Is this ban just for Peterborough or also King's Lynn? Who's enforced the ban?
  21. Should be a 4pt win for Swindon. Pressure on for the play off chase.
  22. Surprised nothing started. Hoping for a home win.
