Coventry V Swindon Friday 1st July
mdmc82 replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Can sadly only see a home defeat as Garrity & Bates have both been good lately. Looking at the line up we look more of a 3 man team now. -
So Harris is 6th on the league form list and yet people are still talking about his so called poor league form.
-
Garrity will be missing for most of our remaining meetings now

It's rained very heavily on and off the last couple of days and is raining outside at the moment. With heavy rain forecast for during the night and rain currently forecast for tomorrow afternoon, this meeting could be a doubt http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/mobile/forecast/gcqfjkq3z -

I think they will get 4 points with Garrity & Bates missing. 😕 -
Thursday June 30, 2016 TWO of the top three riders in last weekends Czech Republic Grand Prix will be on show in Coventrys Elite League clash with Swindon at Brandon on Friday (7.30pm). Robins skipper Jason Doyle, who is statistically the top rider in the league, clinched his first GP victory in Prague - whilst his Buildbase Bees counterpart Chris Harris made his return to the rostrum for the first time since last years curtailed opener at Warsaw with a battling third place. Both riders will be paraded prior to Fridays meeting, along with Coventrys Danny King who races at home for the first time since his sensational British Final triumph at Belle Vue on June 13. The meeting itself is also a highly significant one in the chase for play-off places with the Bees anxious to avoid a second home slip-up against the Robins. Alun Rossiters side have an excellent away record with three wins and a draw, including their 50-42 victory at Brandon in early May, but three home defeats have acted to balance out that form on the road. Bees, meanwhile, have made up the points from their own two losses at home by collecting five from recent visits to Kings Lynn and Leicester, and now need a fourth successive home victory to close in on the play-off places. But they go into the meeting without two riders, with Jason Garrity having been ruled out for around a month with a break to his arm diagnosed following his crash at Leicester on Monday. The rider-replacement facility operates for Garrity, whilst Josh Bates completes his mandatory nine-day spell on the sidelines after crashing at Sheffield last Thursday. Bates is replaced by squad member Adam Roynon, who scored paid ten in his previous appearance for the Bees at Brandon against Lakeside. Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: Its been such a long time since our last Elite League match at home, and its very important that we keep up the form we had before the break. A win against Swindon is hugely important for us, and it would take us to within striking distance of a play-off place before we go there on Monday. We will be parading Danny with his trophy before the meeting as its the first chance our supporters have had to welcome him back as British Champion, and Im sure hell get a great reception. We will also be parading Bomber as well as Jason for the benefit of the Swindon fans, after they both put in such good displays in Prague last weekend. I expect it to be a cracking meeting with some great riders on show. BUILDBASE BEES (from): Jason Garrity R/R, Chris Harris, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Danny King, Adam Roynon, James Sarjeant, Kacper Woryna. SWINDON (from): Jason Doyle, Josh Grajczonek, Nick Morris, Stefan Nielsen, Justin Sedgmen, Rohan Tungate, Charles Wright.

With a full team I would have been confident of a win but not now we are weakened without Garrity & Bates. -
Huge blow for Coventry. It's been a bad season for what could be our final one 😞
-
Worrying times. I hope you hear so positive news regarding the new stadium very soon 👍🏻
-
How long are Swindon allowed to stay at the current stadium if a new one isn't built?

I think the racing has improved since heat 9. Garcia has been very impressive. Congratulations to Glasgow on their win 👍🏻 -

What I do like is the team riding from the Glasgow riders. It's good to see as it doesn't happen as much anymore in speedway 👍🏻 -

Not overly impressed with this so far although I'm sure the rain as affected the track as have seen videos of better racing there before. Still better than Monday's but it has nothing on the EL meetings we have seen on sky so far. It's great to see such a huge crowd 👍🏻 Ayres celebration made me laugh when he won the race. You would think he had won the league lol. -

Looking forward to this meeting as I have heard really good things about the Glasgow track and stadium. They look a good team as well. It can't be any worse that Monday's terrible sky meeting. -
Garrity is scoring more that his average at no 2 and beating heat leaders such as JK, Doyle, Hans, Cook, Nicholls so would hardly call that a bad second string. Please can somebody provide some solid facts that support their argument that Newman has PROGRESSED more that Garrity in the last 2 years either in the PL or EL as I can't find any.
-
I was talking about in the last 2 years there has been not a lot of progression and in that time he hasn't had a huge amount of injuries, no more than Garrity, Auty or Howarth I was talking about in the last 2 years there has been not a lot of progression and in that time he hasn't had a huge amount of injuries, no more than Garrity, Auty or Howarth Reserves do get awards. Garrity was Coventry's rider of the year in 2014 & 2015 as well as the riders rider of the year. Our current reserve Bates was Sheffield's rider of the year. Nobody is disputing that Newman has been a good reserve over the last few years, the point they are making is that he is still just a good reserve. He hasn't progressed in to a rider good enough for the main team and in the last 2 years in the PL he has stood still. By now he should be in the main team scoring more than his average and be a comfortable heatleader in the PL but he's not. If the rule next year was riders who had been on the draft for 3 years had to come off, would Middlo risk him in the main team over riders like Kurtz & J Holder. The answer is no
-
I wonder if they will still stick with him next year if the draft gets scrapped and you don't have to have a Brit at reserve. Can't see them doing so when there are better riders out there

Exactly esp without Garrity and Bates who have both been in good form. -
I agree that they should no longer be compared. Newman should now be compared with other reserves like Worrall, Wright, Ellis, Starke, Auty Even of that list I wouldn't say Newman is the strongest anymore.
-
Hardly Garrity's fault that he had mechanical problems during that race in the British Final that caused his crash and injured his arm. Regardless of who has come off the most and yes they both have had injuries, if you take off the Poole tinted glasses, can you honestly say at this point in time in PL & EL Newman is going better than Garrity? Newman has hardly beaten anybody of note this season (even our reserves beat him). With the exception of draft riders, Newman has beaten only (H)Lawson,Morris (A) Lawson,Josh.G Whilst so far this season Garrity has beaten (H) Doyle, Andersen, Cook, Nicholls, R Worrall, Bridger, Bech, Kylmakorpi, Josh.G, Buzz, Thorsell, Masters, (A) Kurtz, Buzz, Cook, Nicholls, Karlsson, Kylmakorpi, Masters, Summers As for PL, I think the averages speak for themselves. Newman's 2014 end average was 6.51, two years on and it's now 6.76 and he's a 2nd string. That's hardly any progression in almost 2 years. Garrity's 2014 average was 6.75 however his average is now 8.44 and he rides as a heatleader.

Another amazing meeting for KK helped get the point 3,1,3,3,3 (13) Sarjeant a big worry though & Garrity/Bates both missed.
