What year was that Red 64/65?
-
That chune which is awesome should be compulsory, also all riders should wear black leathers and monkey masks.
-
Salty what was his brother Ulf like at the Heath?he was the 1972 Norwegian champion i only see him for Oxford he did look more than usefull not in Dag's class of course.
-
I remember when Simmo and Lee got robbed in the pairs in vojens absolute robbery.Zancarz certainly beat Nielsen but the homers got the decision i watched it again today Simmo must have been a dream to ride with he could ride tight or the outside always in total control.

Oh sorry "city" how was Dag around that venue? i only went in there championship year and for individual meeting's World team cups and Berger Grand Prix meetings.

Scunthorpe V Peterborough (plkoc 2nd Leg) 26/5/14

A very hard match to predict, Auty and Dryml are the key to this meeting i believe my hunch is a narrow Scunny win. -
Spot on "Grachan" the Keeno meeting was in 1975,in a way Dag,s career reminded me so much like that of Scott Autrey. How there careers went one bad move and just could not get there level back as we know both were world class in Scott's case he could of been WC.
-
But "City he only averaged 7.76 a really low average for him he had averaged over 10 for Reading,Hackney, and Oxford.I can remember seeing Dag in the Mike Keen meeting and in the 1974 European Final at Wembley when he qualified.

A class act, Legend RIP Simmo.
-
A very good rider, was outstanding for Hackney even challenged for the golden helmet reached 1 world final in 74.He was decent for Oxford but if i can remember rightly never liked the White City track never suited him.

HIs racing style was superb, maybe only Simmo and Adams come close on that front. As for Gary i only see him ride three times and i can remember it in 75 also i still have the speedway star with Gary on the front RIP both. -
i thought business,he was offered good money a few times but relented and never changed his mind. You are right the league was tough also a huge variations of tracks then very tough competition.

Never to be forgotten,a world champion in the making no doubts the sport was robbed. -
In 1980 Lee was just coming off those back injuries at the NEC so that made it look like DJ was dominant. For me he was a very good rider indeed, but not in the same league as PC, Lee,and Simmo for me anyway. Was he good anough? maybe he was but when i look at Gollob( only 1 title),Adams,S.Moran,Sigalos,Sanders,Carter, all of those riders i rated higher.
-
When he was at KIng,s Lynn ,he was always borrowing Lee,s bikes not being nasty he was never good anough to be a world champion.
-
Love that tune i can remember it,i did not know the title though. At the end of most Robins meeting's Goodnight the Beatles Ringo) was played loved that also that dreaded Claxon at Eastbourne how loud was that.Wimbledon also had a great tune, god knows what that was.?

Great post a bit of a mix of all generations, but i could not disagree with any of them. You could speak to 100 people and they would all have different views that's what it is all about in my opinion.

Prague another borefest not great timing.!
-
Was it a complete failure Phil? or can we learn from it and move on i for one don't want to see meeting's be a failure it happens now and again it always will.
-
i think for business reasons WK ? he did i believe ride in a Daily Mirror series in 1973? for the Aussies style wise not a typical Aussie but a world class rider. He averaged 10.86 and 10.74 in 1970 and 71. ( 27 full maximums in two years pretty impressive. How good was he at Owlerton Third Man? his away average was pretty impressive as well.

Deleted this meeting right away, an absolute pig of a meeting.
