Somerset v Poole KO Cup Weds 2nd May 2018.
Gavan replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Poole are hot favourites for this one with Kurtz and Josh in the line up and the Poles should like the track. Lose this one and surely something needs to be done. The best ever team assembled we were told..........................laughable -
Its all in response to one or two very very smug Poole fans telling everyone before the season started how Poole were so much better than everyone else and would win the league easily. Sensible Poole fans knew not to get carried away as last season the same numptys said the same things only to get egg on their face. Poole can still turn it around.........but if you are going to dish out rubbish before a wheel is turned you have to expect a bit back when it goes wrong
-
Yes sorry my error......................KK was Pooles number one..................and he was replaced by Kennett.........who then rode at number four..........good signing!
-
And am i right in thinking that Kennett would drop to reserve for this one? Pooles number one from last season now at reserve for Rye
-
So why get a rider to break the tapes? Just replace the rider with the reserve in the first place. And again what would you do in the scenario i mentioned?
-
But what if the rider who breaks the tapes is a reserve? Heat 9 is the home team 3 & 4 and the away team 5 & 6. If the away number 6 breaks the tapes then what do you do.? Mark says put them off 15 metres but that wouldnt be fair as chances are the reserve would never catch up. There would be exceptions , Bewley being one of those. Yet in the same heat if the home number 3 breaks the tapes he could in all theory catch the number 6 of the away side off of 15 metres. Cant see how you can just have the rule that all riders go off of 15 metres.
-
Good pictures but nothing on 2 greats Tony Rickardsson and Mark Loram bit strange
-
Woryna rode at number 4 for the last part of the season and did quite well. See strange that he hasnt carried on his improvement he has shown abroad to over here
-
Szczepaniak has along with Shanes done his job, its the top end thats the issue. And we was told in no uncertain terms how good Woryna was going to be because of how good he is in Poland. So far he hasnt shown anything to make me think he could challenge for a heat leader role though that may change in time
-
Why on earth do you want Shanes gone? Both Poole and Swindon built their teams top heavy and went with a good reserve at 6 and a weaker one at 7. Davey has been worse than Shanes yet Swindon are winning matches. This is because their top 5 is performing as good or better than it should be and Pooles top 5 (Kildermand excepted) have been woeful. Shanes is doing his job, if the other 6 were doing theirs then there would be no issue
-
If you read many of my posts instead of being selective then you will realise i rate Brady. Fact remains he has had a slow/poor start to the season. Will he be as good as Tai and Lindgren next season like you said? I doubt that. Not as good as Adams and Crump at the same age but has the potential for sure. I admit riders regress like Holder, so soon he will be expected to beat the likes of Tai and Lindgren, but put Kurtz in the GP series eithe r this year or the next and he would be as big as outsider as Cook
-
Im assuming that thats a tongue in cheek comment re Brady good rider that he is
-
Depends on how many you need to change and what riders and point are available. How long do you keep a struggling Sundstrom? How much time do you give Woryna? Is Kurtz going to up his game or do you go for a Woffinden/Lindgren instead. I for one dont believe in this early days crap. You need to hit the ground running or you can get to far adrift to make the points up. My team Ipswich , like Poole a favourite for their league have lost 3 matches 2 at home and the fans want better, Poole can be no different
-
All i said in the off season was the Poole team looked very good but with lots of risks and if the risks dont come off they could struggle. Kurtz needed to step up to be a true number one.......may do in time but so far he is out of form in the UK......irrelevant of his form in Poland. Holder was a risk if he could get back to his form............well he hasnt yet rode Linus has been away from the UK for a while and may take time......and was he any better than Hans Andersen? The 2 Poles are huge risks.....same as any Pole over here especially away from home.....and as of yet they not done much at all but again they may come good. You build a team like that then you like good if it all comes together but as i said pre season its a big if

Wolverhampton v Poole. Prem A. 23/4/18
Gavan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That doesnt count he doesnt ride for Poole Lets be honest so far Woryna hasnt done much 6 being his best score in 4 matches. Came with a lot of hype as a future GP star. This is the issue with the Poles as none of their best stuff is here and Poole will be low down on his list of priorities. I know he has only had 4 matches and could get better but its not a good start. -
Poole should get a point at Lynn. If they don’t then there is issues for sure
-
Which is exactly what everyone is doing now. Shovlar was the biggest culprit telling everyone how Poole were going to smash everyone so when your getting beat as easily as you are right now then you have to take all the stuff that comes your way. If you can’t take it don’t dish it out
-
Just a few little gems

Gavan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
As I said on paper Poole looked like the best team but with huge risks and one of those risks has yet to ride this season! The poles haven’t done anything yet. Woryna was going to put 3-4 points on his average and I’ve yet to see any indication that will happen. Linus has been poor and so to has Josh really and Kurtz is not living up to a number one role yet. Poole were built top heavy hence Shanes is in and I still see people saying he should go lol. Look at Swindon also built top heavy and Davey has done nothing yet they are still winning matches because the top boys are banging in the points so Davey can be carried a bit.....which the Poole top boys are not doing at the moment Timo Lahti is on standby..... -

Correct, every track has racing lines that the home team know best but yes its all about being able to control a bike and not just be a throttle jockey. Look at Mark Loram, could ride any track, fast ones like Exeter but good at Wolves , Eastbourne and Arena, Darcy Ward was good at Arena to. Unfortunately some riders have a mental block before they even ride there -
Peterborough v Ipswich CS Tuesday 24th April
Gavan replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not that i was going to this or that i live in Peterborough but im in Chelmsford and we have had 5 days including today of sunshine im a little bit surprised that this is off. How long is Peterborough to Ipswich and hour and a half? I fully understand that we have had those weeks of awful weather so meetings were cancelled in advance but this seems a bit strange -
But thats the way the Poole team has been built this year. You cant go top heavy like Poole have with Kurtz, Holder and Josh and Linus as 4 heat leaders yet be strong in reserve. If Shanes gets 3 or 4 a meeting he will have done his job. The problem at Poole is that the top boys are not doing there job
-
So Poole wait all winter for the Polish ruling so they can bring in Sundstrom..................then he has average meetings in his first 3 and Poole ditch him!!
-
Are you that thick that you compare form abroad to form over here. So your happy Brady gets 14 in Poland and then bangs in 3 or 4 on Monday....prat. Wasnt you telling everyone how amazing Woryna is in Poland beating top riders but over here he cant beat Bellego or Eliis or Starke. I hope your boys keep banging in big scores abroad and riding poor for Poole.....maybe its a management issue
