Referee Just Bottled Semi Decision
Gavan replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
i dont really like either rider but the facts are this: 1. Pedersen made the start 2. He tried to clamp Holder (as he was in front so quite allowed) 3. Holder didnt shut off (to be fair he shouldnt) 4. Holder had 1 wheel over the kerb (perfectly allowed) 5. Holder by having a wheel over either hit a rut or picked up drive 6. Holder ran into Nicki due to the drive he got (not Holders fault) 7. Nicki then fell off because he was hit by Holder. Im not saying Holder meant to do what he did but that is irrelevent. He was the reason the race was stopped. As i said if this was turn 1 of lap 3 and Holder did the same he would have been excluded. The ref wanting to decide the title on the track is a total cop out and wrong. Lets say last gam of the premier league Man Utd v Man City and they are level on points. In the 10th minute Vidic commits a professional foul and should be sent off but the league should be decided on the pitch so the ref lets him stay on!!! The correct decision should always happen whatever time of the meeting or championship its at. Holder should have been excluded his crew a disgrace to him. For what its worth i think he would still have won the title as dont think Nicki would have beaten Gollob or Lindback. and before any jumped up poole idiots moan its not Poole bashing just a wrong decision -

stop the argument of Holder hit a rut, it doesnt matter. first bend bunching is all 4 back. The reason Pedersen came off is because of Holder end of discussion. yes he hit a rut and it sent him into Nicki, so if that happened on lap 3 who would have gone? its not hard!! -
Chris Holder World Champion
Gavan replied to T.N.T.'s topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Proved to be the best rider over the 12 rounds but boy oh boy he was lucky tonight. the ref bottled the semi final decision. if that had been any other semi in any other round he would have been excluded thats a certainty -
Lesser of 2 evils here. Nicki for the fact he is dirty and Holder to smug and do i really want his grin all over my tv on saturday with Ward jumping all over him? Nicki for me

Carter Where Does He Rate With The Great British Riders?
Gavan replied to stratton's topic in Years Gone By
Firstly anyone who achieves in their chose sport has talent just shown in different ways. Who was the more talented gifted snooker player Davis (6 titles) or White (0 titles) which proves that natural talent doesnt mean you are better or more successful. Joe Screen is a more talented motorcyclist but in terms of success is nowhere near Carter. How do you rank success? In the world final Wigg, Tatum, Doncaster and Chris Louis have all been on the rostrum and 3 of those riders have won as many british crowns as Carter so in terms of success they may rank ahead of KC but i think Carter had more natural ability then any of them, but Wigg and Tatum were exceptional on longtrack as well. Scott Nicholls has won 7 british crowns but doesnt make him better than Carter as this era is easier though Scott can only beat what is there. In my opinion based in my lifetime 1976 onwards this is my ranking. The top 4 due to success in world finals and british champs would be Peter Collins, Loram , Lee and Jessup in any order. Close behind would be Havvy. Then a group of Carter, Wigg and Tatum Then the likes of Simmons, Louis and Screeny and Doncaster and Morton -
sorry i apologise sidney

Sorry did i read this correctly? Chris Holder a better rider than Jason Crump or Leigh Adams erm not yet doesnt matter if he wins this year or not

HAMPEL NICKI PEDERSEN LINDBACK HOLDER -
Personally cant stand Darcy Ward as a person, very arrogant and up himself and his head is to big at the moment. BUT...... 1. He was found NOT GUILTY leave it at that 2. He is without doubt the most exciting rider in the world who needs gp's now and the gp's need him. I for one want the best riders in there. 3. Niamh give it up you are making a fool of yourself
-
What is it with the Darcy bashing? im not a Poole fan by a long shot but im a speedway fan and any tru supporter would realise Ward should be in the GP. I cant understand why people cant get the wild cards. It will be WARD HAMPEL VACULIK plus 1 depending on the result of the challenge. And on form i think they wont leave out AJ or Lindback either. All depends on the challenge!!!

Jonsson Nicki Pedersen Vaculik Lindback -
Tai must be praying its Vaculik, Iversen and Lindback from the challenge and that Lindback doesnt make the top 8 then the wild cards apart from Darcy will be wide open. If any of those 3 dont get throught the challenge and Lindback gets 9th then it will be harder for Tai to get a place as i think the organisers will want Vaculik Ward and Lindback in there whichever way it needs to be done

Most Exciting Riders From The 80's And 90's
Gavan replied to Dudleywood4eva's topic in Years Gone By
Lucifer Sam (Rob) i wasnt trying to mark down Wiltshires achievements he was a fantastic rider with greta ability and a thoroughly nice guy who without injuries could have done more, but i wouldnt put him near a list of say the 20 most exciting riders. i appreciate you being an oxford fan you would have seen him more than me but its just my opinion -
Most Exciting Riders From The 80's And 90's
Gavan replied to Dudleywood4eva's topic in Years Gone By
As much as i admire the riding ability of Todd Wiltshire and how he come back to the sport i would not class him as exciting to watch he was a brilliant gater labelled 'the fastest alive over the first 35' at Wimbledon. For pure excitement on a bike it had to be Mark Loram, never was there a guy who continually missed the gate and had to pass rivals. Not only did he pass people he was clean and never hard or dirty. -

HANCOCK HOLDER NICKI PEDERSEN HARRIS LITTLE TO LATE -BJERRE & ANDERSEN -
The 4 wildcards will be Hampel, Vaculik, Ward and Woffinden. THERE WILL BE A BRIT IN THE SERIES!!! The only way this will change is dependent on the challenge result
-
i would build the team around Poole Tungate and Heeps. Dak although ok has got one of those averages that doesnt really fit for me and im not sure i would include him. I still thin Tress on a low average might be ok but then lets go and get a genuine number 1 who can guarantee us 12-15 points in 95% of the meetings. At the moment we are hoping Tungate or Poole will but we dont know and even when we have a reserve score 19 we dont have a top liner capable of backing it up. Im sorry but the team was very poorly put together and very slow to react when team changes are needed just look at Scunny and Somerset to see what they did getting Morris and Monberg. Aljacks views are extreme and he does try to wind others up the way he puts things but face facts he is right!
-
It blatently obvious Lanham should be nowhere near the team and Risager was not signed as a reserve so shouldnt be anywhere near the reserve berth. I would expect Lanham to score well at number 6 it doesnt hide the fact that Risager is a huge let down this season.

There should not be a wildcard in the gp challenge makes it a total joke if Pavlic gets through. Have no problem with the final being held there lets face it someone will have home track advantage where ever it is, and if Pavlic got to the challenge final on merit then of course he has the luck of it being a local track but he didnt and this is so wrong
-
Following on this is in my opinion the 15 riders i think should be in the series next year: Nicki Pedersen Chris Holder Jason Crump Greg Hancock Emil Sayfutdinov Tomasz Gollob Andreas Jonsson Jaroslaw Hampel Fredrik Lindgren Darcy Ward Martin Vaculik Gregory Laguta Micheal Jepsen Jensen Janusz Kolodziej Niels Kristian Iversen or Tai Woffinden agree/disagree?
-
There will always be a british rider in the gp series i think thats obvious. I dont agree with it but it will not be allowed to happen without a brit in there. Personally i want to see the best 16 riders in the world in there and none of our riders are in that position. Lets be fair Harris has kept his place on entertainment value alone as when on song he will provide some thrills and spills. His time has come though to be replaced and it can only be Tai or Scott. I think Ward Hampel and Vaculik are nailed on to get in as wild cards if Vaculik doesnt make the challenge qualifiers, then you are looking at Laguta next as well as Iversen. A brit doesnt deserve a place ahead of any of these riders but it would help if Vaculik and Iversen qualified from the challenge freeing up a wild card place. Dont think it matters if there will be 4 aussies and 1 dane. You need to be good enough and if Watt qualifies via the challenge then he will deserve his spot and Ward has to be in. Try a few years back not having Sullivan or Wiltshire in there. If Nicki is the only dane then fair enough and lets be honest if Harris keeps getting wild card after wild card then maybe Bjerre if he came 9th or 10th would be in line for another go. The authorities do like to put 9th and 10th back in a lot of the time!!
