  1. hope you reading this statement pinstripe and dave minall! summed up in a nutshell
  2. are you a role model for others? are you a professional sportsman? does it matter what you do? if you go out friday saturday sunday and get drunk thats up to you. pretty boring life if you ask me cant get my head around this way of thinking. it happens in most towns thats the youth of today. ok so be it does it make it right? personally if you want to go out drinking brawling and urinating in the street up to you. more reason why this country has gone downhill. if your life is about going out getting drunk 3 -4 nights out of 7 then go waste your life. why cant people see that THESE ARE WELL PAID PROFESSIONAL SPORTSMAN. ROLE MODELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What they did was wrong
  3. well if you think its acceptable then thats your view. personally i think its disgusting behaviour and shows you what is wrong with our country really doesnt it. remember the riots in london? this is called anarchy basically. nothing would have been said ifit was hancock hampel or crump because they would never have done it!!!!! Ward wasnt really involved this time but yet again his name is there linked in. he needs someone to grab hold of him and quick otherwise he could throw his whole career away. Holder i thought would have known better Batchelor is a clown full stop. If you think that because this 'stuff goes on in city centres' means we should accept it then i feel that is the wrong attitude.
  4. For those of you who think its ok for anybody to get drunk in a bar or club to a point that they get thrown out or fighting then i suggest you live in a different culture to myself as i find it appalling behaviour and if my son was involved i would be extremely disappointed. Now moving on to the fact that these were professional sportsmen make it all the more wrong. Between March and October these guys need to be on top form both physically and mentally is that to much to ask? Yet again its the young aussies involved. batchelor i can understand as he always been a bit of a pillock but Holder i thought had grown up and moved on. he is World Champion he needs to set an example. could never see Hans or Rickardsson and the like behaving like this. Darcy is Darcy. He will probably fritter away his career as he gets caught up in everything all the time. he wasnt to blame in this instance but yet again he was there. Its ok though because they are young !!!!!!!!!
  5. Thought it was a good not great gp. Darcy best rider on show. But because he is inclined to miss the odd gate plus his over eagerness ( see semi final) means he has still a bit to learn about the gp's. However i can not really see him having a shocker and he will be bang there at the end of the season. Did Holder look hungry for it? Maybe but he doesnt like the track and i think he to will be there or thereabouts. Hampel for me sort of passed under the radar a bit but got a win and pleased he is in. Tai was fantastic proved me totally wrong and just hope he keeps it up. Emil was disappointing but reckon we could see a different rider in Poland next time up. Someone said it was disappointing to see the old guard Gollob, Hancock and Nicki in the final but to me just shows how great these 3 guys are. In particular Nicki, who i dont have much time for, basically looked the slowest rider all night. either last or looking likely to be passed yet still made the final. Thats what Ward needs to learn. In my view Darcy can win this world title just needs to curb his enthusiasm. im sure he would have been second in the semi if he had picked his moment to pass rather than just charge but hey its good to watch
  6. because its not opinion from him. he is biased and cant see past the end of his poole nose. it is possible they could be 1-2 and yes Darcy is a future champion but just think he will need a year to get it right. notice how shovlar mentions no other riders but the poole boys? he has probably got kk and lindback as 3rd and 4th and then isnt sure who else is racing why get involved? sidney admitted his mistake so move on!
  7. so where are the so called real poole fans then? no shovvy, no home striaght, no internetman!!! when we all slating Matt Ford for his blatant rule bending how quick you were to defend. now the prat ward cant be defended nor can middlo and yet you are absent from comments. every season somehow poole speedway drag speedways name through the gutter if i was holder i would get as far away from ward as possible.
  8. nice to see a poole fan having an unbiased opinion....................oops yes they could be 1-2. will they? doubt it. Ward will find life far tougher than he can imagine, Holder can gate. Its ok Darcy flying past average riders in our elite league but lets see how easy it is to get past the Nickis and Gollobs of this world. im not saying he cant do it as he is a sensational rider. Can see him over riding trying to hard as well. Top 6 would be a good start for Darcy and build from there. A future world champ if he cuts out all the off track shenanigans!!
  9. is it a year to soon for Darcy? how will he cope with pressure? think if Lindback carries on where he left off he could be top 3. Hancock, Nicki and Gollob is it 1 season to much? Emil not really gone forward the last couple of years. Jonsson and Hampel may have reached there peak and potential. Vaculik to big at 66/1 for top 3 as well. KK, Zager, Iversen, Lindgren and Tai cant win it. As i said on another thread very very open year. If Holder fully fit will be thereabouts again. My top 3 1. Holder 2. Lindback 3. Ward
  10. My take on it: He is British. He has no chance of making a gp final. He will finish 15th On top of that i hope i am proved wrong and he makes finals and finishes higher up. Is he better than Bomber? Maybe Does he have Bombers experiance? No This years field is far superior to last years. Put Bomber in this line up and he to would be 14th or 15th. just shows how bad we have become over the years.
  11. brilliant as im an ipswich fan but keep rambling
  12. IN FACT ITS AN EASIER OPPORTUNITY NOW AS THE TOP 8 RIDERS IN THE WORLD WILL NOT BE TRYING TO QUALIFY!!!! Imagine a qualifying system in the old days with no Hans, Erik, Jan O, Moran, Jonsson, Ermolenko and so on, much easier to get through dont you think
  13. White Knight why can you not understand this!! Doesnt matter how good you are you could not make the one off world final due to a bit of bad luck. In the one off system Scandanavia had 7 places to get through so Rickardsson has a fall and ef and gets 7 points and goes out. Feasible as the field could have had: Nicki Pedersen, Bjarne Pedersen, Hans Andersen, Holta, Gunnestad, Jonsson, Nilsen, P Karlsson, M Karlsson to name a few. Much better that we leave the 6 time world champ out of the final isnt it!
  14. Your argument has no backbone white knight! 1990 Richard Knight made the World Final due to a run off at the British. Admittedly a good Commenwealth Final, only qualifying as reserve from the Overseas but Cross got injured so he took his place in the intercontinental and got through that as Troy Butler fell off when Knight was last and he won the re run! Nothing at all against Knight but what if he won the final, a worthy champ? No Also look at the final itself - Matousek, Tesar, Adorjan, Kasper got 11 between them. Missing out were Henka (who go in because Jan O got injured), Doncaster, Hamill, Loram, Wigg, Adams, Havelock, Correy (who got through because Hancock was injured), Karger, Nahlin, Sam Ermolenko, Kelly Moran. Now please justify how you can prefer the 4 who rode against those who didnt make it. It wasnt fair as they had harder rounds with less spaces to get through. This is just 1 year 1 example, i could go and get many more. As i said if you prefer the atmosphere thats fine. But the system was far more unfair then it is now. its not opinion its fact!! and henka could have won it!! much better Adorjan was there rather then Henka!
  15. You are NEVER going to get a fair system whatever way its done but the gp has to be a better way of finding the worlds best rider surely!! the old system was far more flawed and where 1 bad ride or an ef could stop you progressing and then we always had 5 eastern block riders who more often then not had little or no chance. I remember the days when the BLRC was a far more illustrious line up then the World Final. Sorry but by all means prefer the atmosphere of the one day but to get the best world champ under the fairest qualifying system its gp all day long. only 1 rider shouldnt be their this year, in the one offs you had 4 or 5
  16. I saw Savalas Clouting score a point once!! cant remember when but im pretty certain the other guy didnt have an engine failure or fall off!! Sham as Tim Woodward sponsored him , his kit was immaculate just couldnt ride. Andy Smith winning his 3rd British Crown! Though for me i think it was seein a young Tony Rickardsson at Foxhall in the Billy Sanders Memorial meeting, having never seen the track and the witches fans wondering how good he may be, well he flew round came second and went on to do ok i think!!
  17. head -bashed - brick wall lets go back to a one off world final and have it at Peterborough and have Buckowski world champion, that appears to be your method. the gp is a far fairer system to decide world champion. it makes sure the best are there, and also determines theseasons best not just one night. didnt Bjarne win a gp once? imagine him as world champ because of 1 good night!
  18. oldace - my points exactly!! the title of my thread is 2013 best gp line up. which i think it is. we have only 1 rider who maybe shouldnt be there where as in the old one offs we often had 4,5 or 6. His argument about fairness is flawed
  19. I used to go Rye House from 1982 to 1990 ish i think. My riders i enjoyed watching Bobby Garrard Steve Bryenton Marvyn Cox Steve Naylor Kelvin Mullarkey Cliff Ott And does anyone remember Kerry Gray? He was an aussie who came over for a bit in the 80's. I used to go with my aunt and uncle and a few of their friends and one girl who used to go started dating him. He actuslly came to my uncles house on Christmas day!
