The inside half of the track was pure "blue groove", you could smell the burnt rubber from the stands, and straying off the inside line was like riding on marbles. Despite this the lads from both sides put on a good show.
I presume Birks had to pull out due to lack of equipment after his engine went pop in his first ride in the PL match.
Scunny missed a trick by putting R/R at No. 4, should have been at No. 2 IMHO .
Stars of the show were Reade, Young and a terriffic ride from Walter in Ht.13. Rest of the riders were pretty much as expected. Young Clegg showed promise, but Richie underperformed and was a little too concerned with Tom Young, rather than concentrating on racking up points.
It quite often happens that riders appearing in both legs of these double headers run out of steam before the end of the second match .
