Peterborough v Kings Lynn Premiership Mon May 27th
acef replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just some food for thought but I’ve always felt the top league should look like this: Belle Vue Scunthorpe Somerset Peterborough Glasgow Sheffield Poole (when relaid) Swindon (once settled) Those are the best tracks in the Uk with the best entertainment. Also a nice north/south split. I know it’s early for Swindon but from the little I’ve seen it looks like it could grow into a decent little track. Those circuits when prepared correctly would provide good racing and would go some way to fixing the sports image. The top league needs the best tracks to really shout about the product, imo. -

FWIW and whilst I will never condone bullying, I can absolutely understand the frustration of some of the established photographers. Taylor seems like a great kid, but his name has got him into places others wouldn’t. Lanning is the name it seems matters when it comes to media publications for the sport and they have a decent relationship with Pearson, the man who counts in that respect. Does that seem like a bit of a clique, yes I think it does and I would be overly impressed with it. From what I’ve seen so far, it doesn’t look like bullying to me. Like I said I’d never condone actual bullying but I don’t think that is what is happening here. -

There is a lot of noise. Honestly I expect it'll go away when they eventually decide to sit down together and behave like grown ups and deal with it. A really nice summary though, of the absolute mess that British Speedway currently is. -

Same. A brilliant track and I was so pleased when it was confirmed they'd come up. NSS and EOS are not just 2 of the best in the UK, they are 2 of the best in the world. -

It's so blatantly obvious who is who here. Seriously, sort it out behind closed doors. -
Same I had wolves as one of the main players. On paper, they have such a solid team. As Steve says, all been number 1s at some point or another. At home I thought they'd be pretty much unbeatable and whilst they were carrying nick today, I still thought they would have had enough. BV are proving quite an enigma. It's one of those teams that will get stronger as the season develops.

I dont think you were poor in the first meeting. Rode hard. One of those score lines that didn't reflect the result. I am genuinely shocked at the result here though. Quite honestly I expected a beating. Wells has saved his ass today.

Well I stand corrected twice. Absolutely gob smacked at this result.

Does it fit?

Bjerre for Wells anyone? Does it fit?

Belle Vue v Swindon - Monday 20 May

The start of the meeting is naturally when you ride down by the kerb. Happens in all the GPs. However that is unusual for bv, strangely. The outside has been good even in early parts of meetings since the track opened. As the meeting went on and the surface began to break up around the outside it became usable and the racing dramatically improved. Like rob said, a number of us were screaming for the home lads to go wider. Doyle knew that’s where the racing line was. Overall that was a much better racing experience than you will find in 90% of British tracks, imo. -

2nd half of the meeting was excellent with some great racing. For Swindon, I thought they did well and would comfortably took a point with Toby potentially a win as well. If they could find a scoring replacement for Shanes they would breeze the league but they are top heavy so that will be tough. Even still, a good team. For bv Wells was poor again and whilst early I think we need to put the feelers out for a replacement because he just ain’t doing it. Again a mini collapse mid meeting after an 8 point lead, we should be kicking on but Swindon pulled it back to within 2, granted after a Doyle sub. If bv don’t make changes Swindon will win here in the 2nd fixture imo
