-
Well said - couldn't agree more Trevor! OMG we agree on something!!

the biggest stumbling block to me appears to be is who will provide the financial clout should there be cash flow issues? who will guarantee wages and other payments if Panthers suffer a series of rain offs for example? Someone should also guarantee with hard cash that the club won't fold mid season - To his credit at least Horton didn't pull out mid season - at least he stayed until the end of the season.. Also I wonder If Ready Power will be a major sponsor of the team? Rick and Julie are big Panthers fans and they run successful businesses so It would make sense that they sponsor the team and protect their initial investment and the value of their Assets...

can anyone clarify who the promoters were when the Colin Horton promotion went bust in 2008? Thanks

At least it makes the racing more bearable,!!!

Dickie Greer on Panthers: Go back to Friday nights Peterborough speedway legend Richard Greer is desperate to see Panthers live on. The club’s future has again been thrown into jeopardy by current supremo Mick Horton’s decision to walk away after only one season of a two-year leasehold deal. And, with owners Rick Frost and Julie Mahoney already admitting they are not in a position to assume hands-on control again, buyers are likely to be needed to ensure Panthers race on in 2015. Greer, one of the club’s originals for their 1970 debut season, is hopeful that will happen. Speaking after Panthers’ 46-44 defeat at the hands of Edinburgh in the opening leg of the Premier League Cup Final, he said: “I’ve been in involved at Peterborough from day one. “Rider, clerk of the course, machine examiner, meeting co-ordinator – you name it, I’ve done it for this club. “I rode in the very first race of the first meeting and I hope I haven’t just watched the last one at home. “I know the club has lost a lot of money this year, but I really hope a way can be found to keep it going. “Mick tried to go back to regular racing this season, but a Tuesday night just didn’t work. “Speedway is a family sport and we need to race at a time when the kids can come along – that’s Friday nights again like it used to be or at the weekend. “I just hope the club carries on.” Greer scored more than 2,000 points in seven seasons as a Panthers rider http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/speedway-news/dickie-greer-on-panthers-go-back-to-friday-nights-1-6351682 well said that man!

Probably sweet!!

I have to agree its actually a lot better that Uncle Lens attempt - but saying that the Rye House one is the worst programme in the league! crikey is that how it works? no wonder Frosty is so hacked off. I'd imagine that the two businesses are unconnected and that Coventry is currently financially viable and possibly profitable - riding on a Friday and making the Play off final must help massively ... and also by using the Peterborough spare air fence panels as spares for the Coventry one..!
-
yeah and charging £2.50 for a substandard programme...! I wonder if the riders are up to date with their wages?
-
Primarily Health and Safety I reckon mate....
-
tuesdays race night and riding PL was the main factor and that's a fact trev.. It's a pity they cannot ring fence the Speedway track and grandstand to make it available at weekends when other stuff is going on at the EOES - allowing us to ride Fridays or Sunday if PL and Thursday if EL...

I spotted Trevor with what appeared to be a tear in his eye - clapping his hands red raw !!
-
cheers for that Tel - his appearance was very low profile... Yes you are correct sorry - League Cup final! Thought the atmosphere was very poor - more like a wake than that of a speedway final.. ATB

I really cannot understand Horton's position in all this ... Why has he not been seen at the Showground for months? Why was he not at the Meeting yesterday? I thought he was a Speedway fan - and cannot even be bothered to Watch and support the team he supports in the KOC final? Also where was Neil Watson?
-
the score flattered the Panthers - but as said previously heat 15 was a cracker - I hope Ulrich was wearing dark underwear - looked like he was heading into the fence on turn 4 lap3..... have to agree that Edinburghs reverses we even more awful than ours! Thought Carl Johnson came accross when interviewed - and was honest in what he said. I have to say the Programme was a load of tosh for £2.50 - have they been taking advice off Uncle Len on how to rip punters off with an overpriced sub standard product... Enjoyed the 125cc v 150cc Challenge meeting that followed - some good young talent on deplay there.... Lets hope we see the Panthers in 2015!
