  1. Speedway - Blackbird injuries not as bad as first feared Lewis Blackbird (blue) leads from Todd Kurtz (white) and Morten Risager (yellow). Picture: Jeff Higgott Panthers star Lewis Blackbird was released from hosital last night (May 25) following his crash in the afternoon meeting against Plymouth. Initial fears of a broken jaw in the wake of his heat nine smash during a 46-44 KO Cup first round, first leg victory at the East of England Showground proved to be unfounded. But Blackbird did break two fingers in the fourth-bend spill and also suffered concussion. He is also experiencing back, rib and groin pain, but none of those problems are thought to be serious. Team boss Carl Johnson said: “I’ve been to visit Lewis and the outlook is a lot brighter than we all feared a few hours earlier. “He has broken the ring finger and little finger on his right hand, and the doctors are suggesting he will probably be out for between four-to-six weeks. “But knowing Lewis, and knowing the fact the British Final is three weeks today, I’m sure he will be desperate to return sooner.” Panthers are back in action on Friday when they host Berwick in the Premier League, but they don’t then race again for another fortnight. http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/speedway-blackbird-injuries-not-as-bad-as-first-feared-1-6762749

  3. so whats gone wrong at Ippo? Looked a good team on paper at the start of the season...!
  4. Looking forward to this one, comfortable home win with a max from King Kennett...
  5. Whats that got to do with a Rye House thread? Do you have learning issues?
  6. All good news for Rye House!! could finally be a half decent season for a change.... How Rocket fans must yearn for the days of Woffinden and Sundstrum! - I know I do!
  7. PANTHERS SWEAT AFTER ROBERT SPILL PETERBOROUGH bosses have been left sweating on the condition of teen star Robert Lambert. The 17 year-old withdrew from tonight's British semi-final at King's Lynn after a crash in his second ride and later went to hospital suffering from hip pain. Lambert hit the fence in heat five after attempting to blast round the outside of rival Stefan Nielsen. Readypower Panthers team manager Carl Johnson said: "Robert twisted his groin and banged his hip when he crashed. "He was planning to go to hospital late tonight to be checked over and we will be in contact with him tomorrow. "It is a massive shame for him to have to withdraw from a British semi, but hopefully it is nothing too serious and he will be back on a bike as soon as possible." http://www.peterboroughpanthers.co/news.php?extend.2480
  8. just don't see the point of the thread if it's not a thread for the actual meeting - in that case add the date, competition and the start time you Jock Numpty!!
  9. The worst formatted thread title in Speedway Forum history...... Should be a rule if Posters IQ is less than single figures they should be given read only access!!
  10. great idea!! Almost called "promotion of the product" by the respective owners!!
  11. you maybe be in the Elite League next year Shadders!!
  12. probably the same ones Panthers are talking to to replace Olly Allen -
  13. Yeah and it'll be less and less each week - whilst the place looks more like a building site in a sandstorm.....
  14. I hope young Greenwood turns it around... Would be nice to finish top of the league but to be honest to finish in the top 6 and have young Olly firing on all cylinders by early September should be the main aim of the Promotion...
  15. You joking right? else you need to change your medication...
  16. Speedway - Tigers pose the toughest test yet for city side Brady Kurtz will guest for the Panthers again. Team boss Carl Johnson reckons Panthers can continue their perfect start to the Premier League season in the heat of top-of-the-table battle. The city racers have reeled off four flawless victories to collect the maximum available league points and zoom into pole position. They take their proud record to Owlerton Stadium tonight (Thursday) to take on the second-placed Sheffield Tigers – a team just a point behind them in the early-season standings, but who have already ridden three more meetings. Johnson said: “It is bound to be a tough meeting – you wouldn’t expect anything else from a top-of-the-table clash – but our boys can’t wait. “They are loving their speedway at the moment and everyone is so determined to keep the great start to the league season going. “The riders are performing on the track and the team spirit off it is phenomenal. That counts for so much in this sport and is undoubtedly a big factor in the results we’ve been having. “We won’t treat this meeting any differently to any other. We are going to Sheffield with the aim of winning and at the very least we want to come away with a point.” Panthers’ latest success was a 20-point drubbing of a highly-rated Workington side at the East of England Showground on Sunday. They have also brushed aside Rye House at Alwalton with emphatic victories arriving on the road at Redcar and Plymouth. Johnson has again drafted in Australian whizzkid Brady Kurtz to guest at number one. The 18 year-old makes his third appearance for Panthers after also being borrowed for both home victories in the league. He is one of several members of the city side expected to shine on the super-fast Sheffield track. Johnson added: “Brady was delighted to get another guest booking for us. “He tells me Sheffield is his favourite track in this country and he absolutely loves racing there. “He certainly isn’t the only one of our guys who should be suited by the track up there. Simon Lambert used to ride for Sheffield and likes the place while Lewis Blackbird came through a British semi-final there just last week. “Ulrich Ostergaard finished on the podium there in the Premier League Riders’ Championship as well last season so I’m hopeful we will have enough experience and knowledge of the track to get a good result.” Panthers’ scheduled home clash against Glasgow tomorrow (Friday) was postponed earlier this week due to unavailability of the Showground track ahead of a major weekend event at the site. The club insist it is a situation completely out of their hands, and they are working hard with their landlords to secure a new date for the fixture. They are not now scheduled to race again after tonight until Bank Holiday Monday, May 25 when entertaining Plymouth in the first leg of a Premier League KO Cup clash. http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/speedway/speedway-tigers-pose-the-toughest-test-yet-for-city-side-1-6743229
