I have brought a season ticket for the last 3 seasons & each year I question myself & think why did I bother? We had the year Birmingham folded 2 lost matches, no refund or alternative offered. The following year the sky fixture( Swindon) was reduced to £ 7.50, but we did get 2 free programmes so didn't really lose out. Then last season we had the Kings Lynn fiasco, which people who paid on the gate were eventually able to get a refund from KL c/o Mr. Chapman, but season ticket holders were never refunded ( although do I remember Dave Darcy saying something about a discount off this seasons ticket, which hasn't happened), also the East Midlands Bowl was supposed to be included on last seasons ticket which didn't happen. So that was 2 fixtures we paid for which were never run. The main incentive for me buying one is if the weather is looking dodgy I would still go & not worry about losing half my money if it's rained off. If the previous promotion were in charge for this season I definitely wouldn't be getting a ticket, but I feel the new owner deserves the backing of the fans for the way he has gone about altering the track & the general mood around the place, which seems much better, so I will be buying a season ticket again, even though the savings aren't that great. I just hope everything goes well & I don't regret it.

Szymon was always great value at home & could beat the best, but there was a big difference between his home average & his away one. Even after 2 seasons when you would have thought he would have mastered some of the smaller tracks but he still seemed to struggle. But i'm sure the track at Belle Vue would suit him perfectly & one thing with him you could be sure he would give 100%. Not sure whether he's ruled out the UK this season or just didn't want to return to Leicester after the problems with wages etc. from last season.

Your 2017 Table Prediction
stevethelion replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Lebedev isn't starting at reserve. Riss & Ayres are the reserves for the start of the season, this was confirmed in an article on the Lions website about Riss. Riss starts on 6.85, Lebedev has been mentioned as coming in on a 7.00 average ,but not seen that confirmed anywhere. -
Great to see the track alterations to bends 1&2 commencing next week. Even better that it's being done under the supervision of Glyn, hope that means he's got his job back for next season.

The twins are graduating up to 250 bikes this year, that's why the club announced they wanted to give them more track time, but why it has to be at the expense of the MDL lads I don't know.
-
The new promotion say they have dropped the MDL matches to allow the Thompson twins more track time, which is all well & good, but what happens in a couple of years when they are old enough to ride MDL & there is no local team to ride for. It seems a bit of an odd decision & not good for the long-term development of young riders.

Yes & looked what happened last season Wozniak had his permission to ride in this country removed, because they wanted him for practice on Saturdays. He was missing for about 6 weeks.
-
Have to agree, I think it's a gamble considering the demands Polish clubs place on their riders, like wanting them back on the Saturday for practice. Would have rather had Sedgeman on a slightly smaller average.
-
Gomolski would seem an odd signing, with Saturday night racing & him riding in Poland on Sundays. We had bad experiences with that last season with Wozniak suddenly having his permission to race in this country being removed by his Polish club, because he was needed to practice on the Saturday ( I think the reason given was).

He said that himself & Dave Darcy were working on the team first before deciding on a manager. He was hoping to sign 5 riders who weren't riding for other clubs because Lions wouldn't have priority, because of declaring late. Saturday night is still main race night, but there might have to be the odd meeting on a different day. He expects Coventry to need BP between 4-6 times & that they would have to work around Lions fixtures. When asked what the situation was regarding the team, stadium & land, he said he was responsible for it all. I think that about covers it.

How about 1. Kim Nilsson 9.63 2. Kylmakorpi 9.35 3. Sedgeman 7.60 4. Schlein 7.17 5. Auty 7.01 6. MPT 6.98 7. JPB 2.00 TOTAL 49.74

Someone did mention he had broken his leg flat track racing, but that was middle of December, I would think by the end of March that should have mended.
-
Interesting that Lawson's average is exactly the same as Kenneth Bjerre. Hope that's not a bad sign for Coventry fans.
-
Perhaps Leicester have decided to stay with Saturday night racing, something they wouldn't have been able to do if they had signed Lawson, because he's already at a Saturday track with Glasgow.
-
I'd have thought if Coventry don't ride then King would be sought after by Belle Vue, he's excellent at the new NSS, especially when winning the British final there. Can't say he's ever been particularly impressive around BP.

Oh dear! is that the bloke who always seem to stall the tractor or dump the shale in a big heap on the back straight, he didn't seem to have much of a clue.

I think Klindt was there to present an award, not receive one. The story in the on-line version of the Mercury says " Birchenall was on stage with speedway rider Nicolai Klindt & about to present the team of the year award". Obviously Lions didn't win the team of the year award that went to the Leicester Riders Basketball team ( the football team & were due to receive a special award later before the awards were cut short) .
-
Correct , it comes out at the back of the Royal Mail Office , but it's not open yet.
-
If Schlein, Lawson & Sedgmen are correct, like you say it rules out Thursday (Schlein at Ipswich) & Saturday ( Lawson at Glasgow).I presume Buster will be at KL on Wednesdays doing the track, so not Wednesday. Hopefully Coventry will be riding so that rules out Friday, isn't Tuesday Swedish league & Sunday Poland. So by process of elimination that leaves Monday! But then we're just guessing, so probably best to wait & see.
-
Agree, Buster may well have other ideas, but I hope not, I don't midweek speedway at Leicester will be financially viable .
-
If Lawson signs I presume that will mean no Saturday night meetings as Glasgow now ride home meetings on Saturdays & he isn't going to sign for 2 Saturday tracks.

2016 Riders Still To Be Announced In 2017 Team
stevethelion replied to mdmc82's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
His last average for Redcar at the end of 2015 ( he didn't ride last season) was 3.83 -
If we are still to have some Saturday meetings that would rule out Summers & Lawson, both having signed for Glasgow who I think have switched to Saturday nights for there home meetings. I'd go for 1. Kim Nilsson 9.63 2.Kylmakorpi 9.35 3. Wozniak 8.27 4. L.Lingren 7.69 5. Auty 7.01 6. Klindt 5.42 7. 2 pointer

Klindt has a 5.42 Premier League average from his spell at Scunthorpe

Most In-demand Riders For The 2017 Season
stevethelion replied to poolebolton's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
That was my first thought, but if you go on the SGB twitter page, someone asked the question about riders with averages for both leagues ( even mentioning Klindt's name) the answer given by the SGB was "the average for the relevant league for riders with 2 averages", so if I'm reading it right, Klindt , if riding in the top-flight would have to use his average he got for Leicester 6.36 x 1.4, if he just rode in the championship he would use his old premier league average of 5.42. But don't ask me what he uses if he doubles up!!! I must learn to read the question right. Someone asked what average would be used for team changes during the season not team building. So Klindt would be a steal on 5.42.
