After two days the Final scores were added up, and in the case of a tie outside the top 3, heat scores decided positions. If there had been a tie in any of the Top 3 positions, it would have been decided by run offs. Seems FIM-Europe like to make things easy.

  6. Thanks. Yes, it was a really good cross section and reminded me of when I first started to going to Speedway. That's bad news, and means that it puts pressure on the others to try and match the Russians. Which on the evidence of the first rounds is going to be hard
  7. Makharov rides for Moscow Suburbs Lukhovitsy, and quite a few people in the crowd were from there. The Kosovs are being hailed as The next big thing from Russia. The Novelty value of Twins riding in the same race had a few of the 'Togs trying to get them in the same frame whilst racing (have a look on the Saturday pics on my site). And the fact that apart from Dmitri K, who was seeded, Samara had the Wild Card AND the two reserves. They have a bit of clout at the moment. On a personal note, I had a great time in Moscow, despite being ripped off by a Taxi Driver on my first night. Still, I'm going back next year, as I managed to get from my Hotel to the Stadium easily enough, and still managed to wire my reports and pics. I took the bare minimum of gear, so it looked like a tourist rather than a working 'tog. Racing was great, and my pics are up on my site now http://iancharlesphotos.net/Image_Gallery/Image_Gallery.html and I made friends with fans from Togliatti and Lukhovitsy, as well as seeing some of my Russian Friends whom I generally only see in Assen. Things to remember for next time: 1) Don't get a taxi from the airport 2) Remember to take a spare LiOn battery for the camera and the charger (Thank you Good Shoot for the use of your charger in the press room on Sunday!) 3) Remember to take the hand warmers out of the bag for the aircraft hold and put them in the Camera Bag before going to the Stadium. 4) Find out the dates for 2015 as soon as possible

Most of those watching were chatting on the Ice Speedway facebook group. Looked quite a good meeting. I'm in Moscow next weekend for my first trip to watch Russian Ice Speedway. I'll try and post results here next weekend

  10. You are spot on Doug, the promoters can make money if they stage their annual meeting as fans will go, although a few 'names' in the line up attract the fans from further afield - Krasnikov will race the odd meeting here and there and pull the punters in who want to see him, same with Zorn and Bauer, who will pull in their fans. The FIM want Ice Racing, but then appear to be doing little to promote it.

I suspect thats why they have changed it for this year. Perhaps if they thought about where they stage it it might attract a few more riders.

  15. Craig Ackroyd told me that the Russians prefer to hold the meetings during the day as it can get 'a bit nippy' once the lights go. Considering he was telling me it was -20 during the meeting, I think it was a bit of an understatement! Looking forward to my first trip to Russia for racing - just need to sort my press accreditation out!

  17. Looks like the warn winter Russian Weather is playing havoc with the fixtures - well at -5'C it's warm for a Russian Winter . Last weekend's Premier League Meeting in Novosibisrk was called off and moved to March (much to the annoyance of two of my friends who went there!). The Russian Championship Semi Finals in Ufa, Sterlitamak and Shadrinsk have all been moved to the weekend of 21/22nd December. The Semi Final in Novosibirsk will go ahead this weekend (14/15th December) as practice was today, and all went well according to the Russian Forum. No news as to a TV link yet, but I'll post one if I find one.

  19. Make you seem like a positive 'Stay at Home' Jesper
  20. Thanks for all the advice, both for independent and organised travel. I'm doing it half and half in that I will be making my own way to Moscow, and staying with the Travel Plus group, who will arrange my Visa too. Now looking forward to going to Russia. The Ice Speedway Gladiators Series will now have 4 Rounds/8 Meetings, as the Speedway Amur Club will host Final 2 over the weekend of 15/16th February at the Cupid Stadium, Blagoveshchensk. For those of you who don't know, Blagoveshchensk is in the Amur region, and stands on the where the Amur and Cupid rivers meet. Across the Amur River is Northern China, and the City is a 1,000 Miles NW of Vladivostok. The riders will have to leave Togliatti straight after the Team Final the previous weekend, in order to get there. I understand that the regional government together with the club are paying for the riders and officials to travel there. The riders/mechanics/officials/bikes/vehicles are expected to travel by train. If they drive, it's only 4,250 miles (6857 km) with a driving time of 83 hours ,
  21. I'm thinking of doing the same this year, although a few of us are talking about travelling together. I too would welcome advice, although I was chatting to a few Russians in Manchester for the City - Moscow match and all said it wasn't able to be reached by Metro, but was easy to get to. I'm assuming they have a rail system which runs in conjunction with the Metro.
  22. I'm basing it on the information posted on several site including the Assen Site and the Russian Forum. The Russians tend to release their fixtures AFTER the FIM ones. At present I can't help you, but I understand they will be Friday Night and Saturday Afternoon as usual. As soon as I get the schedule I'll post it It was just a general comment Doug, as Flims, St Johann, Weißenbach and Flims are natural tracks, who rely on the cold weather. But Berlin would be nicer if it was cold and dry rather than their March Rainy season Oh, and the Assen tickets are available here: http://www.ijsspeedway-assen.nl/en/tickets-2014.html
  23. Few Additional Fixtures: Jan 5th - Steingaden, Germany Jan 24-26th Sanok, Poland Mar 7th - Roelof Thijs Bokall Assen, Netherlands There are also meetings planned in Berlin, Austria and Flims Switzerland. Just hope there is a good cold winter
