What will 2026 UK speedway bring?

I do accept that may be a big issue and I don't know the answer. Any suggestions from anyone better qualified than me? -

I'd much rather have that than no Foxhall to go to on a Thursday night thanks! -
Spot on Iain, yes I can say there will be a lot of concern locally as the sport is the second biggest concern in this area by some distance. The support is fantastic as is the local media coverage. But the sport itself has to be the biggest concern, and despite some strong posturing from some of my fellow witches fans on here. If we take home the ball then no one plays and it's as simple as that!

All joking aside, as Dean said on 360, we must find a way to get people off grass track flat track or whatever otherwise we'll have no sport to watch. I'm quite shell-shocked but not surprised that Chris has had enough and wants to sell up but if we don't repair the lifeboats then we all drown. -

Unfortunately whilst I admire your enthusiasm. In your scenario Billy won't need to take his ball and go home because he won't have any mates to play with. -

Let's consider the situation logically. Why have no premiership clubs signed any riders? The answer is simple Why be a sacrificial lamb when the numbers don't add up! They don't want one league but I'm afraid it's hobsons choice. -

Whilst I agree I'm afraid we are going to have to bite the bullet on this one otherwise British Speedway has no future. One league with rookies is the only way forward. -

I disagree, I think they'll all run but somehow they will fudge it through, presumably they are waiting on 1 or 2. Could Peterborough get up and running in a few months, I guess they could and hope they will. -

Whilst I agree with your points about Prem clubs. Unfortunately if the big boys take their ball away and refuse to play, then nobody plays. -

Everyone is talking about different permutations and this that and the other. My question is this. For non UK riders, what exactly are the visa requirements. I ask the question because presumably if we to need to populate 14 sides for example and just say we need to get riders who may be well down the pecking order in say any EU country or even Denmark or Sweden for example. Would they demand top dollar as British Speedway would have a begging bowl? -

As an Ipswich supporter it was great to win the league after so many years. However, based of course on endless speculation it would appear like the Premiership is acting like a playground bully. Unfortunately apart from Ipswich the business model would appear not to work, root and branch review will not work. The tree is dead. It requires chopping down and a new one planted. -

Didn't the people who relaid the track at Odsal try and get someone to run the promotion but no one came forward? -

Essentially as of course with the haves and have nots. British Speedway simply doesn't have enough people to participate in it, and whilst the powers that be have turned a blind eye. The chickens have now come home to roost. As I see it the only way ahead IS 1 league and blood the youngsters (wherever they are from). Otherwise those that propose that a top league is a must may not have anything to support next season. -

Much has been said about riders and promoters but what about suppliers? Engine and parts providers for example? We all know standidised equipment can lower costs but what for example happened to the Sheffield experiment a few years ago with the Honda engines? Is it possible that the current part suppliers would be operating a cartel? Or as I always say 'Turkeys never vote for Christmas' -

Does anyone know the definition of an 'asset' in speedway terms. As an Ipswich supporter, my god have we been lucky with the last few years. However, as a speedway fan first and foremost I would happily watch an amateur or semi pro sport if it meant we got the famous names back such as Wolves, Cradley, Coventry,Swindon, Peterborough and anyone else I apologise for not mentioning. If the sport went back to this footing and became affordable then who knows. -

There's an old saying Iain, 'Turkeys never vote for Christmas' I agree with you all the way.

I think at Ipswich we are incredibly lucky because of this. I became very dissolutioned with the old Premier League between 2011 and 2018 as we had a succession of poor sides. However the management have done a grand job culminating in the success of the last 3 years. -

A question for anyone in the know. Is it reasonable to assume that with a much reduced premiership next year ( assuming of course). Is it possible that we may lose many top riders in the league as there will not be enough meetings for visa requirements? Just asking. Note: I asked this on the Ipswich thread.
