  1. Asking what might seem like another silly question. I thought Paul Hurry would be doing the media rounds after the meeting or am I missing something?
  2. Excellent point regarding Lynn's long tail. Everyone talks about Fricke, Harris and Kvech. The problem is if anyone has an off night you are asking kids to carry the team. My point being that you can potentially ruin up and coming British youngsters by pushing them too early. Yes the league is weaker but it's still a tough ask for 16 year olds.
  3. Good crowd and a comfortable win. Did scott get distracted by the red light in heat 3? Edwards Man of the match for me. I think this group may come down to the bonus point with us and lynn. Shout out to Lawson for great win in heat 15.
  4. Doesn't this just prove time and time again that the sports governing body simply have no interest in making this sport both affordable and more accessible to all competitors. If a top British rider is in financial distress from trying to earn a living the powers that be should hang your bloody heads in shame! Unfortunately it won't happen as I have stated on here before the turkeys never vote for Christmas!
  5. I know Paul Hurry has been around for years and years ( I remember him as mascot at Hackney) in about 89 or 90. But from a coaching or management scenario what is his background and presumably the owners will have taken good advice on his appointment?
  6. In the good old days when we had a functional sport with competitors. For how many years did we have the old fashioned tactical rule of using any rider when 6 points behind. I always thought it worked quite well to be honest?
  7. Just be careful that you don't get burnt!
  8. Where is Captain Oates and Lord Lucan?
  9. I suspect the first few meetings will be busy due to the novelty factor, but yes it could go south rapidly. History tells us that new or newish teams are usually in fire fighting territory early on. For example Milton Keynes 1990, Skegness 1998.
  10. Yes I think we all do. Unfortunately we are staking the sports future on a group of people who want to keep their cash registers ringing at the expense of the younger generation who will be forced back up the chimney.
  11. I know the government wants us to do more recycling, but this is taking the p1ss!
  12. If this starts to go wrong does the new promoter get picked on by the other 5 playground bullies?
  13. I accept the good words from the new Ipswich promoters and the hopes for Northampton and the sport in general. However, whilst there is clearly a monopoly or cartel (However you wish to describe it) on equipment such as Tyres and other equipment. How on earth do these people think they are going to attract new competitors into this sport. Deluded I'm afraid!
  14. If a 'consortium' of different people are running it, does that qualify as a clusterf#ck?
  15. Be sensible Iain we are talking about speedway here.
  16. Last year we paid £24 and got a Ferrari, this year we'll pay £25 and get a TR7!
  17. We all talk about PR disasters but if they don't make it then the PR disaster could be terminal for the sport or indeed the Premiership.
  18. I actually think it's quite a solid if not spectacular line up. Yes I know some will complain that there's no cream on top in terms of top riders but let's be honest the whole league is crap. And with the whole league being poorer we may have closer meetings overall.
  19. I think we all know what the Dragons or Lord Sugar would make of it!
  20. From what I remember of Elfield Park and going there was that although the viewing areas around the track were elevated, the track itself was pants!
  21. Can anyone remember back to Skegness and the timescales for when they got the go ahead and team etc?
  22. A lesson from history although a different sport. If you look at MK Dons they have never really hit the highs with their crowds. Although of course their move was deeply unpopular at the time their average crowd in league 2 is around 7 to 8k. Yes bigger in the championship of course. They took a freebie hit on a grand scale and got a 23k crowd against Harrogate. Does anyone know if at the time if the owners carried out any market research on their potential supporters or crowd? Because clearly it doesn't appear to have worked.
