  1. And therein lies the problem. The speedway authorities won't challenge it and the status quo won't change. As the old saying goes, never kick a man when he's down.
  2. The only thing I can see is new riders coming through or cloning of existing ones! Failing one or both of the above, I'm afraid the ship goes down with only brave hardy souls on board!
  3. Unfortunately, the sweet shop used to sell soft and creamy centres. Now all that's left is liquorice, hard toffee and stales!
  4. I'm actually really happy we have a team. In reality we were never going to Emil and Jason in the same team. It's still a competitive team in my eyes and we've won 5 out of 7. I accept that we should not accept mediocrity, and certainly in the early 2000s we had some poor sides at Ipswich. However, the sport must come first and we go back to basics. The sports current administrators are playing the violins on the deck as the water level is rising and it simply cannot continue. When some of my fellow Ipswich supporters moan, just think of those who no longer have a team or track.
  5. Unfortunately British Speedway is bit like the Doctor is administering morphine to the patient but he can't get the dose right At some point he'll overload the syringe and speedway in Britain is a goner!
  6. Today's fixtures, or this one and return later shows how much the sport has declined in the UK. I seem to remember some of the Bank Holidays had a full league programme in both leagues.
  7. Surely from a cost perspective, potential promotions such as Cradley, Coventry Peterborough and the likes would see it as a sustainable business model. Clearly not!
  8. I never saw what the issue was with the 1995/96 model. Everyone with an out and out number 1 and a selection of riders on 5 6 and 7 point averages. I thought it was great seeing different opponents every week, but clearly that's common sense 🤔
  9. Once again long suffering supporters will be subject to guests galore in what should be one of the key fixtures of the season, and yes before anyone says it because we cannot help injuries but it's just another nail in the coffin.
  10. Presumably he is still CEO?
  11. Whoops fair point Iain didn't realise he was in charge.
  12. As I stated before it's a controversial point, only ex riders in charge of official matches. A non rider simply cannot simulate a racing situation.
  13. Clearly they didn't want to get bashed and smashed by us! On a serious note the sport has feck all credibility left. Surely and yes I know it's not always accurate but presumably the Met Office will provide a much more accurate forecast for certain organisations. I'll wager a penny that fixtures will still be going on after the play off dates!
  14. Perhaps they can call it the groundhog cup in future.
  15. Given its a bulky foam fence, it must be quite a task to move it from Lynn to Northampton. Does the fence get a 7 day ban if it doesn't make it back to Lynn for the next home fixture.
  16. If British Speedway had an advertising campaign and used the strapline ' subject to availability' would that be considered as taking the piss?
  17. We'll be having 75% guests if we don't get a grip on the the rider shortage.
  18. Team changes in a sport where you don't have enough participants is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic!
  19. That's exactly my point previously, one or two riders missing on either side then it becomes a farce. Despite our comments on here I'm sure the promoters don't wear earmuffs and blinkers!
  20. Does anyone know the situation with Cooper Rushen? I'm aware he missed Redcar with the hand injury. But with the chronic rider shortage we seem to be pushing our up and coming riders to extreme limits.
  21. I know the forecast isn't good. However from an entertainment point of view we know Bangs is missing and is Cooper still injured. Anyone else missing flights or had better offers? Apologies but the cynic in me is shining through!
  22. And I'm pretty sure Iain from your commentary position(s) you would have spotted it?
  23. Just listened to Paul Hurry and Danny King on BBC Suffolk. No mention of any blades. From what I saw on bend 3 I agree with the picture, it looking like the leading edge of the grader was doing the scraping.
