  1. The Green Sheet Rolling Averages have been based on 20 matches for a while, but this season (2022), the number of matches is reducing by 2 each month, so: June 18, July 16, August 14, September 12, and by October the Rolling Averages will be based on the last 10 matches. I checked with the BSPL office, and they confirmed that it has always been the last N matches, irrespective of home or away, i.e. not half of each. Therefore, by October it's possible that riders will have averages skewed by 6/7/8 home and 4/3/2 away, or even 4/3/2 home and 6/7/8 away. Obviously, the smaller the sample, the bigger the impact on the overall average - especially when a new score is added and the oldest is dropped. Another change by the BSPL for which the consequences have not been thought through ...
  2. Riding order cannot be changed once declared officially. Whoever guests takes on the average of who they are replacing - so Starke would be 8.40 and the Plymouth #1 for this meeting.
  3. Why? Jorgensen rode Monmore really well last Monday - indeed, was the only rider to provide genuine excitement in a very dull match. Absolutely anything from this match will be a bonus for the Witches. Hopefully the new line-up can ride with more zest than recent years.
  4. And a no-lose for the home team, who are guaranteed a point, but could get three - while the away team, after earning two points for a draw could end up with only one thanks to the stupid additional race
  5. SpeedwayGB on FaceBook has posted Heat 7, by CleanCut ...
  6. The Aces haven't broken any Regulations. No idea why you think they're throwing averages? Fricke has a poor record at Foxhall. If the Regs allowed some flexibility, team managers could actually set their teams up for the tracks they are visiting. Just because Fricke is #1 in the averages, doesn't mean he's the ideal #1 at every track.
  7. Not sure if Zagar has ridden on the remodelled track?
  8. Except of course Heeps' average is higher Allen is available, if needed
  9. Unless I've missed a match or two in the fixture list, I make it that (without postponements), the 15th & 16th matches take place on Thursday, 2nd June. At that stage the teams will have ridden: Home Matches Away Matches Total Matches Belle Vue 2 4 6 Ipswich 4 1 5 King's Lynn 3 3 6 Peterborough 2 3 5 Sheffield 2 2 4 Wolverhampton 3 3 6
  10. While Batchelor and Heeps conceded 2 x 5-1, so it was a marginal gain. I agree with King being moved from 5, and Batchelor is the only option - I don't think a King/Batchelor pairing at 3&4 would work any better than Barker/King. King has escaped scrutiny so far, but has an inconsistent record in Heat 13 (and 15). A poor performance at Plymouth last night too, where he has normally ridden well.
  11. "A Premiership Transfer Window opens after 25% of the League fixtures are complete and closes when 75% of League fixtures are complete. This permits changes to the team on 2 occasions, except for proven long term injury." So ... given that I haven't read every single reply ... is that 25% of all League fixtures or 25% of each team's League fixtures? Either way, the % works differently for each team, depending on matches completed (home/away and postponements). Another rule that's not thought through. If it's 25% of all League fixtures, has anyone worked out the current scheduled date?
  12. You are of course correct, under "012.4.4 Tactical Substitute (TS)" in the Regs.
  13. Blimey! The dust has hardly settled on this match. If you want to check on possible guest options, the current Green Sheets are available on the BSPA's web page.
  14. If anyone has the race times please, the Speedway Updates team needs them to complete the record of the match. Thanks.
  15. Only the #7 is protected - the #6 can replace the #2. Indeed, it's not clear if a T/S can or can't be used for the #2. I've asked the SCB and BSPL why the regulation is hidden under: "012.6 RACE FORMATS 012.6.1 15 Heats In all Premiership Team competitions the #7 is protected in heats 2 and 8 and no replacements are permitted unless injured and confirmed in writing by the MO"
  16. But is it 25% of all fixtures, or 25% of each team's fixtures? The fixture list is so patchy (without including postponements), 25% overall means some teams will have had less matches than others. By the same token, 25% for each team (without including postponements) means different times depending on when they complete their 25% ...
  17. I did get the irony. My quote was directly from a dictionary (italics included). Football has Laws, which, in theory, cannot be broken. Speedway has Regs, many of which are vague, and often seem to be stretched in the interests of the BSPL/Sport (delete as inappropriate).
  18. "Racing Doyle"?! They are team mates. The whole point of that pairing, no matter how strange it seemed, was that they would score heat advantages - which they did. Riss also covered Heat 8. The big question is will they risk Heeps at 2 for the match against Belle Vue ... if they do, and he fails to race Doyle (LOL!), at least Starke will be available to cover Heat 8.
  19. The point I made is that if you stage the match again with the *same* line-ups you would get a different result.
  20. That's the whole point. Some fans saying, if, if, if - it applies to both teams. Lawson normally rides very well at Foxhall, scored 3!
  21. "Regulation is the controlling of an activity or process, usually by means of rules."
  22. Another night, on a different track. In fact, stage the Witches v Stars at Foxhall again with the same line-ups, and you'll get a different result.
  23. The only gate choice in league racing is Heat 15, and riders such as King and Batchelor are experienced enough to deal with whatever gate they agree with Doyle. The main thing is for them to have a plan for likely first bend scenarios.
  24. Indeed - thought I'd let people work that out - can't spoon feed everyone Heeps is bound to be given more chances ... after all, he's only just returned from the illness break.
  25. But none of his interviews ever say anything specific. There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that Rider X is struggling, and e.g. he's getting help with machinery or advice about the track. There is a lack of meaningful content in Press releases.
