You can't read too much into the Green Sheets. The starting set were based on last 20 matches (or minimum 4 home, 4 away). For June, they are based on the last 18 matches (or minimum requirement). As an extreme, two very good or bad scores could have been dropped from the overall figures - and BSPA confirmed it's last 18 matches, i.e. not necessarily 9 home and 9 away. For July it's down to 16, August 14, September 12, and the Final averages will be based on the last 10 matches. Some figures could well change dramatically over the next 3-4months.

There was quite a rivalry between the Witches and the Pirates back in 89-90 in the National League. They were the days of the one-lane-motorway that was the big track at Wimborne Road. I recall seeing the Witches get absolutely thrashed there one Wednesday night, and the Pirates fans just loved it - despite it being a tediously boring gate-fest. We ended up nicknaming them the Poole SASCC ... which stood for either: "Speedway And Side Car Club" ... or: "Smug Arrogant South Coast Consultants" Definitely never any hate - that's an awful word, which is misused far too often, entirely out of context.

There's always a lack of support on the terraces at Ipswich, unless there's a very big attendance. The vast majority of fans stand around the top of the terraces on the first & second bends, and on the seating high above the back straight. Viewing is poorer lower down because of the stock car catch-fencing.

The new Green Sheets should now be based on the last 18 matches, so a few more older scores will have dropped of the calculations. I don't follow them closely enough to know the impact. Next month it will be down to 16. As mentioned previously, it's the last X matches, irrespective of home or away, i.e. not half of each. By October, it will be the last 10 matches - at some point I'll work out the likely number of home/away for each team.

For some reason, Iversen got a new average on 26th May. Lawson will be #1 as of 1st June.

Yes, thanks ... I looked again and edited my post ... a very odd situation! The need for Iversen to get a new average on 26th May (I guess because he was previously on a re-assessed average?) and the move from 20 to 18 matches from the 1st June has had quite an impact on the KL averages.

It really is bizarre how the averages work, I can't follow the scenarios where Pickering is highest ... I'll look again. Edit: OK, got it now ... Pickering is indeed #1 just for tonight. It really is a stupid rule that forces the top average rider to ride at #1 ... it can cause needless disruption to established line-ups and/or rider positions, and not every rider is suited to the #1 race jacket - although I'm sure Pickering will do a decent job.

I don't let it bother me, because win or lose, it has no major impact on my life - just a moment of cheerfulness or a feeling of same-old-same-old. Even if the Witches won something, it's only transient - there's much more to life than getting upset about sport. Nobody has cheated. Whichever regulation was used - either a poorly written, vague new Reg, or some sort of dispensation - it was approved. Stop being such an authoritarian stuffed-shirt and just chill

Either way, the Regulations have been cobbled together, and the new "window" Regulation is unnecessarily vague, unhelpful, and - to be frank - totally useless. I'm happy to keep stretching it, if only to keep winding you up, seeing as it seems to mean so much to you.

League fixtures. Doesn't say anything about the regional starter competition, and the BSPA/L must have decided the window only applied to League racing. The League hadn't started when the changes were made. I think most people have agreed it's 25% of League fixtures, i.e. when 15 have been completed - which (assuming no postponements) is currently on Thursday, 2 June ... so 2 changes can be made after that, initially using the June Green Sheets. I guess that if a team makes a change to replace three riders, you'll say that's more than two
