Somerset V Sheffield 27.10.16
Charlieboy replied to Cliffeboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done to Somerset deserved champions, hopefully we can go one better next year.If Somerset are to be broken up by the points limit then may be we could persuade Josh Grajczonek to replace Steady ? Well done to the Tigers showing great spirit, lets hope for an injury free season for a change. -

Before the season started I didn't think Somerset would be top of the league but they proved everybody wrong and deserved top spot.Cant see anything but a big win for them tonight but hope we can stay in the meeting for a while. Its always good to win but if they get 60 plus then I feel for the travelling support. Hope we can keep it close and its an entertaining finish to the season.Good luck to the Tigers. -
P.l.p.final Sheffield V Somerset
Charlieboy replied to Charlieboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done to the tigers last night but as I expected not enough heat winners. If we had the 3 missing lads I feel we would have had a lead to defend but it is what it is.Weve exceeded all expectations to get to the final.fear the worse tonight just hope we don't fold.A big thank you to Robbo last night he was awesome. -
Once again we will be the underdogs as Somerset will be hot favourites. In the last 3 to 4 years weve been hit by injuries when weve raced Somerset so same again this time. Its a shame we are not at full strength but we have to go with what weve got.Hopefully both meetings will have some decent racing.Though im not a lover of guest riders we all know its a necessary evil in this sport. At this stage the choice of guest in very limited and whoever we get will be below the average of our riders that will be replaced.Hopefully mr Bates will chose wisely and we can put on a good show.Good luck to our Sheffield select for both legs and lets hope theres no rain. Any news on our guests ?

Sheffield V Glasgow Play Off Semi Final
Charlieboy replied to Charlieboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not surprised its off after the rain this week.Afew heavy showers today and a few bright spells but the heavy rain about 6.30 killed off any chance of the meeting going ahead.Without that and dry night we would have been fine but once again the weather wins.Roll on sunday lets hope its fine and our Sheffield select come away with a decent result.Any news on our guests ? -

Sheffield V Glasgow Play Off Semi Final
Charlieboy replied to Charlieboy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
If he does then we will need ANOTHER guest !!!!!! How comical would it be if we won the play offs with a team littered with guests ? That might upset one or two people !!!!! -
Newcastles last visit produced the race of the season with Garritty and Lambert and this time weve not got Garritty.Expecting a Newcastle win,Wells is not as good as our top two and we haven't rode as a team all season,We always seem to be carrying somebody,42-48 unless we all turn up,,Hope im wrong because we need to finish the season with a home win,The 2nd leg will be a formality I fear,If we get more than 35 we will have done well.

I think Jack P Blackburn is nailed on for next season and I would like to see Howarth return If Dimi returns then he needs to have a season like Bellego has had away from home.Josh needs a season away from his family as I think he probably feels more pressure than the rest of the team. Its probably 50-50 if Steady is back.Greaves has made no progress and I would have dropped him around june and give Jack Smith a chance .Arthur ??? looks well capable some weeks and others not.Better machinery may help him,do we take a chance.? Garritty has been awesome quite regularly and be a shame if we don't have him back but only the management and Jason know what really happened,At the end of the day it will be the numbers game.An injury free season would also help if we are to get serious about winning anything.I think when we put the team together it needs to have a mixture of entertaining riders and some gating tarts not just the riders who are good from the back especially as the track has been too slick for our lads on occasions this season.

Does anybody know the date of this fixture ? Sheffield won 61-17 I think Michael Lee didn't turn up.Seem to think it was round about June mid 80,s Can anybody help please ?

The pairing of Howarth and Bates is a bit strange to me..They both seem to want the same part of the track and get in each others way.Would it be better to give it more time to improve or do we swap Dimi and Josh ? Dimi looks quite smooth and in control ,very impressed with him so far.He has a tendancy to start the season well then fade so hopefully if we can be successful he might keep his form throughout the season.

Peterborough V Sheffield Plc Friday 8th April
Charlieboy replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Great result away from home and a solid performance. Its good to see we keep getting points across the team.Dimi has been very impressive so far and doing a good job at number 2.We need hally to be more consistant home and away. The acid test will be on the smaller tracks where we might struggle.Good luck and well done to the team and management last night. -
Sheffield Vs Scunthorpe Lc 7/4/16
Charlieboy replied to Tigerish's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not the best meeting for good racing but a home win is what we required.I don't think its easy for track preparation for any track since the season started with the constant poor weather weve been getting.Hopefully the track will improve over the coming weeks and our team of racers can get some dirt to use.Douglas was impressive for scunny and it was good to see steady hitting some form.Greaves was on the pace and good to see, hopefully he can get a few NL Meetings and gain some confidence. -
Tactical Ride - Premier League Cup
Charlieboy replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Why not just scrap the the stupid double point rule and go back to being 6 points behind and putting anybody in.It worked for years and gave the team manager the chance to plot changes and use his tactical nounce.Today all he has to do is pick an easy race for one of his better riders to go out and beat lesser riders. Its a joke rule and wants scrapping. -
Ipswich Vs Sheffield Saturday April 2nd 7.30pm

Tough one tonight for the tigers, dont know if morley strengthens us or weakens us !! Hope the weather holds up for the meeting.Good luck to the tigers. -
Glad to see Steady back and looking good against the plrc champ.Looked a bit rusty when palm toft caught him out and when he took Dimi out on first bend of heat 5,He was unlucky with his engine failure in heat 15 ,so bit of an eventful comeback.Think Peterboro deserved a point but not a draw to be fair .Decent meeting against a side who will be in the play offs I feel. Our weakness is going to be at reserve this season.Greavesy had a cracking ride against Ullamek but has gone 8 races without a point now.Hally should be beating riders like Lambert if we have aspirations of winning anything. Its early days but they both will have to be more consistant .Good luck to all the lads at Ipswich.
-
Bit concerned about length of time its taking steady to be fit after his crash !!! Lasse Bjerre replacing him at scunny .Has any body any updates on his situation.Should have been back Thursday then the promotion said sunday !!! Hope hes not changed his mind about riding this season after his accident.

Good workout for our lads last night.Impressed with Howarth and berge.Greaves showed promise josh was off the pace.Poor decision by ref when josh was stuck on the gate due to tape malfunction,Obviously not watching what happened.
