Of course Middlo was 'smirking' as would every other team manager if he'd just been gifted a win by a combination of track conditions, officials and another team manager who refused to allow his riders (who wanted to ride) to go onto the track!

Its difficult to show class in a dubious victory - its even more difficult when Poole are getting the blame for doing absolutely nothing wrong.

Nobody said that Poole weren't prepared to go out for the remaining heats. It was Coventry (or Havvy in particular) that refused to send their riders out!!
