It was obvious as soon as Eurosport got the speedway gp series this would happen. Weird looking cars going around follow the leader get priority, though I struggle to believe this attracts more fans than speedway gp. About 500 in the crowd. FIm need to give Eurosport the old heave ho at the first opportunity.

Heat 14 at Oxford and I said before the heat Zach would fail to come up with the goods and Oxford would outgate him, and in doing so he won’t get past them. So it proved. His form is poor compared to last season.

Decent meeting last night once the track dried out. A bit too much overwatering before tapes up made it a gating competition, and Oxford were far superior at it in that regard. Some very good racing in the latter part. Highlight was Brennan’s pass of Masters on the last bend. Excellent and Brennan is now showing the potential we knew he had. Consistency is king and he is now showing it. Other highlights were Tobias holding Nicholls off for a surprise 5-1. Tobias showing why Matt and Dan Ford went for him this winter. Does come across as a confidence rider. And of course Nicholls ride in heat 15 which salvaged the win on the night for Oxford after Pirates had gated and led for 2 laps. But frustrating to have an interval after heat 11 when we had a long delay to get heat 8 finished, and a late 8pm start on top. By the time the meeting had finished it was well past 10pm when we got back to the car park. Many Poole fans then had major detours with road closures on the A34 and A31 meaning trips along the A303 and down to Salisbury, meaning many didn’t get through the door until 12.30 ish. Pirates team looking good. Not all firing yet though. The Cooks have not started the season like they ended last and there’s room to step it up. Plus we can see the potential of Hagon and as the season goes on he will no doubt improve. Going to be the team to beat.

Looking forward to coming up for this one. Only my second meeting of the season and seems an age since Poole v Oxford first leg. Think it will be close. Trouble is heats 13 and 15 with Nicholls and Masters. Very hard to get anything out of those two heats. Still, we should have a big enough lead for the bonus point.

Easy way through to the next stage for Pirates. Massive advantage off 1 and 3 all night. Well done to Tobias for a very good performance. -

Lawson always attempts to keep his average low by gifting his team mate a win or to finish in front of him. Ben has continued to improve every season and has started brightly. -

Yes come around for a cuppa if you are passing. Good to see Ben Cook doing well in the PL. A good score last night. Could be our number one this season. -

Well I am now going to miss two meetings rather than one unless lucky. Flight from Venice to Bristol at 2pm. Get to Bristol by 4pm. Clear customs and baggage by 5pm. Two hour drive. Highly unlikely I make it. Just for you Poolekeith. -

Off to Rome, Venice, then Montegrappa for a weeks paragliding. Beats a chilly Wimborne Road any day. -

Track was superb against Oxford. The extra banking on the first and second bends opened up new racing lines which Oxford couldn’t handle. A shame it was off last night. No speedway for me until 15th May v Workington due to holidays. At least I can purchase the Poole stream which is excellent value for money and recommend for opposition fans who can’t make it live. -

It was probably the final downpour that did it. Was drizzling for a while but an active and very heavy rain cell developed just north west of Poole and soaked the stadium. Promotion we’re thinking if it stops by 4pm there’s a chance but it was not to be. Stopped now and a dry evening forecast as predicted but the 2-3 hours of rain stretched to 4 and a half hours and was heavier than forecast. -

Currently chucking it down in Parkstone, heaviest it’s been all day but the rain should pass over by 4pm. Whether there is enough time to get the surface rideable I don’t know. Been raining constantly since around 11.30 am. -

Rather Rowe than a foreign journeyman. Rowe might feel he has a point to prove and give his all rather than just 6-7 pointer going through the motions. And Poole fans will welcome him back. -

Drug taking in sport brings huge shame on the participant and the club he/she represents. The can be no excuse as every sportsperson knows what and whatnot is acceptable to take in this day and age. I should imagine a quick look online will bring up all relative info needed to stay on the right side of the rules. Any doubt, ask before taking! No sympathy with anyone caught breaking the rules on illegal substances. -

Sad news RIP Tiger Louis. Condolences to family and friends. Still got the book Inside Speedway somewhere. -
Well having slept on it, that has to go down as the perfect, if unexpected first home meeting of the season. A huge crowd, a new look team, and an opposition touted as possible title challengers. The BSN format has no room for errors. A home defeat and you can virtually say goodbye to the trophy, so it was with some trepidation we faced our rivals up the A34. But any fears were soon dispersed when Lawson saw off track specialist Masters with ease and Tobias Thomsen leading Masters for half a lap. Killeen got stuck in to win heat 2, and was possibly Oxfords most impressive rider with 8 points. Best I have seen him at WR and he was quick and smooth, for a change! Oxfords 3 and 4 were woeful. 6 points between them but only 1 point scored against opposition riders when Heeps beat Max Perry. Boughen was tailed off on all his rides, as was Atkins. These riders though are a different kettle of fish around Cowley, and Wednesday will come around quickly enough for some retribution. Though they will need a miracle to pull back 32 points. The new Poole track was in great shape. Bends one and two are more banked and allowed two racing lines around the boards and up the inside. Same as bends three and four with Brennan’s charging under Heeps on bend three and Benn Cook around the outside off the final bend to pass Masters. An impressive opener from the Pirates. But a tough meeting awaits in the return and Oxford will be gunning for revenge after the humiliation last night. Get your tickets at see you there!

Tobias T said to me before the meeting he had parcelled up the neg feedback hos signjng had brought over tge winter and was going to show what he can do. Was far mire accomplished than expected. Sam Hagon take a bow. Superb debut. Special mention to Killeen who tried all night and battled hard for his points.
