Glasgow Tigers vs Poole Pirates 26th July
Steve Shovlar replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Only club it seems to happen at then, as small teams like Plymouth make a profit from the stream. Redcar and Edinburgh also add to their revenue and even Oxford now stream their meetings. With Glasgow a long way for most fans to travel to, the people who pay for a stream would never attend anyway. Plus you could ban a stream for fans who live within a certain distance. -

Only match left this season where we can’t watch a Pirates match on a video stream. In 2024 that’s pretty poor from Glasgow when other much smaller clubs in the league have been streaming for several seasons, and making money out of it. Redcar on Friday consisted of a single camera and a commentator when there was action. Hardly costs much to put together and for £11.99 good value for money. As for the meeting, well Pirates should win it but you never know. Was surprised when Glasgow announced their lineup and thought it was below par. Should be a good meeting. Shame you actually have to be at the ground to witness it. -
Workington Comets vs Poole Pirates 27th July

Glad it’s on BSN. Going to be tough for Pirates with only the reserves having any track experience. Expecting Workington to take a decent early lead before Pirates get their setups sorted and come back into it. The shape of the track shouldn’t be an issue for Lawson, Brennan and Ben Cook. -

Comic post of the day. Poole have to build to the rules of the Championship, not Premiership. So of course this current team isn’t good enough for the Premiership. But if we were in the top flight, you can be sure we would be at the pointy end. -

Great win when we were lethargic most of the meeting. Well done lads. Fully deserved at the end. And the commentator said is was a huge crowd turned out tonight. Good to hear! -

Great that Pirates finally woke up and showed our level. Got the bonus point to go clear at the top. Last heat decider. A second place will do. -

Absolutely not our luck tonight. Bad luck Tobias. -

No way Poole do TR against KING. Think Cook in next heat as TR. Now Tobias is down. Lawson gated on King. Never the same in a rerun. -

Sam is not on it though. They are leaving him for dead at the tapes. -

We are not riding at our best tonight. Sam is struggling and being the only standing reserve is not helping. -

Does IRR happen for a number 7? Only Hagon can cover but a rider must have a minimum of 3 rides? Soon find out. -

Vinnie Foord withdrawn from meeting. Jenkins out of control and Zack had to shut off or be speared. -

Vinnie Ford has ridden a quarter of a lap and crashed twice so far. -

Seems Vinny Ford has crashed on parade lap and wrecked the airfence! Throttle stuck open catapulting Foord into fence with bike flying in the air. Foord bruised but ok. -

Watching the stream later. £11.99 well worth it. All clubs should have this facility. -
They wouldn’t sack him as he is an up and coming rider who would be picked up by a rival club straight away. Threats from different countries should not allow federation rules to be broken, regardless of money. His Polish team would have known about the clash at the start of the season. As a Brit, a 30 day ban should be the order of the day for withholding his services. Harsh but stops young riders chasing the money rather than the team he should be riding for.
-
Perhaps it’s because Tom signed for his Polish club first? Other than that the Championship fixture should come first. We can’t cover for him properly so it could well be points given away.
-
How does that work out? Is this Redcar meeting re-arranged? As a Brit, this fixture should take precedent over the Polish league.

Speedway of Nations 2024
Steve Shovlar replied to a4poster's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We could all see with our own eyes. No need to make anything up. It may have seemed full to you compared to a league meeting, but compare it to the 2016 meeting, where the back straight was a sea of heads. Even in 2021 there were far more on the back straight. If you don’t believe me, check out the videos on YouTube. If you say it was sold out, then the club offered less tickets for sale for the back straight. The even itself was very well run in very testing conditions, which is not the fault of BV. The final was excellent with some great races. And the best result. -

Hope it doesn’t affect the clubs viability. That stand would have cost tens of thousands.
