  1. As expected, a comfortable and straightforward win for the Comets, some decent races scattered about, tho the scoreline maybe suggesting otherwise, but apart from sporadic efforts by Kus and a more than sporadic effort from Steve Worrall, the rest of the Bears simply weren't at the races until it was way too late? Comets, in the main just too good, solid performances alround, cant really complain much about everyone chipping in with wins and not one single last place, such was the dominance!! It really is a shame that this team can't travel, we'd easily be right up there with the best if we could, but, we can't, and at best we're a mid table team with a one track record, it's a sneaking possibility that we could grab that sixth play off spot but with our away form, do we "really" want it?
  2. Look to have a few problems tonight Redcar, if Comets ride to home form standard we could be nearer 60pts than 50, hope it's not and we get a decent meeting coz, I'm gonna be there!!!
  3. That's something we could always be proud of, our management can, and have, put some good sides together on paper, unfortunately, over the last few seasons, that's exactly where the form has stayed? Never seem quite able to get that winning mix of big track/small track riders who can pull it out of the fire when we need it most, this year, through one thing and another, the wheels have been as straight as a die at home, but all over the place everywhere else? Agree also with jamlad/baz, need wholesale changes if we manage to keep going next time inc Jacko, decent bloke by all accounts but I'm afraid it's too much carrot not enough stick with him, a bit of ruthlessness and he'd be alright? I wish we had 800 at DP every week, where did that figure come from TTP, think it's more like 5/600 thesedays unless, the other 2/300 were in the bar?
  4. Oh well, normal service resumed. Good job Ricky is flying at the moment and another decent return from Mattie, just not enough support again to get those elusive away points, on this sort of hit n miss form think it best we finish seventh, it's not been a vintage year by a long way and it doesn't look like it's improving?
  5. Thank's again guy's, knew it was reduced to one just wasn't certain of the cut off point for using it, like to think that's cleared that up!! Good news about Kyle, too many injuries lately!!
  6. Should we be positive!!!! Yeah let's, back's to the wall good chance of a point!!
  7. Thank's for that guys, like you C49, I've missed loads of matches this year so rule following has not been high on the list, I know a result can now be called at Ht10 but I was convinced that having virtually never seen anyone try a T/R after Ht10 that there must have been a reason for it, maybe with meetings being so close thesedays 10pts for the first then a further 12 before the second your going to need a pretty bad day at the office to even get that far?
  8. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I dont think you can have a T/R after Ht10, think the rules were changed on that issue this season, no doubt someone better informed than I can confirm/deny that that is the case? Once again it looks like I've missed a real thriller, judging by the updates, losing Kyle early doors and RR already in use that Comets team has done pretty damn well to win this!! Not going to single anyone out because they all, no matter what they scored, deserve high praise for the effort and sticking in there when the going got even tougher than it already was!! Hope Kyle isn't too badly hurt, reads like one of those nasty crashes that could finish your season if your luck's out, anyone know if he'll be OK for tomorrow/today, could be a bit makeshift at Newky, one missing, couple of crocks if Kyle does show up and Williamson struggling a bit, (getting the excuses in early) I wouldn't be to hard on Josh, he's gonna need all the points he can get now, when Kyle put's his rent up, if he's not earning, someone's got to pay the house keeping? Well Done The Comets, Oh if only we could do this away from home, life would be so much easier?
  9. Definitely 60/40 in favour of Plymouth under that turn of events, certainly the "easier looking" run in of the two but I still think you cant beat having the points on the board, Plymouth still have to win two of those matches just to catch up and that's not entirely guaranteed but yes, momentum and opportunity is their's at this time but I wouldn't count Ipswich out of it just yet your team is still capable of wins against that opposition?
  10. 50p EW on Ricky Wells, ex Sheffield man, goes pretty well round there and running into a rich vein of form at just the right time, nice outside bet!!
  11. Bit harsh on your team Baldyman, you have to remember you've got the pts on the board, Comets/Plymouth may have matches in hand but neither are much cop away from home and those matches still have to be won for either to make progress? If your home form stands up I reckon your still favourites to secure at least the bottom pitch and you can take it from there?
  12. Maybe this is the answer to our problem's at Armadale, the Comets should go there disguised as some other team, Wells 15, Wethers 5, that's almost halfway toward's a result?
  13. Are you at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this month LP, you've been practising on here quite regularly?
  14. Despite our away form I still think we will win this OK, might be a bit thin in the end but any score will do for the three points, hazard 47-43!!
  15. It was looking fairly promising early doors, possibility of a point, then for virtually no reason we've just fallen apart? Waste of time taking Bach/Harrison away from DP, just no heart for the job in either of them now, understandable for Rusty, maybe should have just called it a day after that purler he took but as for Rene, well, what has happened to that bloke who bagged a flawless max here a couple of seasons back, untouchable, where's he gone? Brave efforts from Kyle/Ricky but no support from anywhere else so we were never going to get anything tonight, much as I'd hoped we would have? Desperate times on the road for us, wonder if the final table will just show, Home- W 12, Away, L 12, cant see a win anywhere not even at Newky on Sunday, injuries or not we just dont have the fight in us to even try to get away results, it's just not happening, too many nondescript performances from too many riders too many times, just getting what we deserve..... Nothing? Off to bed now, disappointed again?
  16. Tungate suspended, Covatti out, R/R, Comets have to hit 40!! Now there's an assumption!!
  17. Not as tough a match as I thought then? To be fair tho, once Sheff turned up without Garrity then lost Bates after not even a couple of laps they were never going to be much of a threat to the Comets? Certainly tried hard and offered some good races but were always unable to offer much support to Danny King, that aside tho I like to think that that was down to a very good all round performance from the Comets? Looking quite sharp for a change out the starts and some determined and entertaining racing thrown in, my first match for weeks and it was good to see pts for Mattie at last, few more meetings like this wont go far wrong!! Yeah, happy with that, a nice comfortable 3pts to keep us within touching distance of the play offs, need to show this kind of form away from home tho if we are to stand any chance in them, anything is possible, if you try hard enough? Also, thumbs up to the track staff, thought that surface looked in pretty good nick tonight, held up well and contributed to some of those good races, very smooth and even and a few good race lines that didn't stop anyone having a go on them, good job fella's!!
  18. Certainly hope so, it will be my first match since Ipswich back in June, beginning to forget what this sport looks like??
  19. Excellent, another 3pts "at home" for the Comets and just as tight as I thought, shame I missed it??
  20. Could be a very tight one to call this, still some useful riders turning out for Peterborough despite missing a couple of regulars so they wont be a pushover, but, I'm hoping that as a team the Comets can bring enough to the party to see off the Panthers? Harrison/Wethers input could be the key here, and home advantage, hopeful of a narrow win of around 47-43, would like to have been there tonight to see one of the top teams but as usual it's that time again when work ruins the best laid plans so I'll just catch up on the updates site later on tonight and see how we've gone!! I have seen Robert Lambert on TV riding for Team GB and I have been surprised that he should want to race in the PL, very talented rider but judging by the comments on this thread, is one who's beginning to believe his own publicity, he can obtain good experience and grounding in the PL and perhaps, although not knowing him personally, should take this level just a tad more seriously than at present, it's not all beer and skittles?
  21. Didn't make this match after all and from looking at the updates we pretty much got out of jail? Looked standard procedure for the Comets, four scoring, three, not so much, and a cheap tac ride to deny Newky a point they clearly looked to deserve, wont have bothered us tho, still would have had the three so it's as good as it gets and provides another of my "home wins only" for the season!! Hope Christian is OK after his smash, been blighted by injuries lately that guy and if anyone deserves a break it's him? (tho, not literally) Dont see us challenging for anything, we just haven't done what was expected with what we had, not competitive away and just mopping up the home wins to keep us there or thereabouts? Not the best team we've ever assembled but I do think we should have been doing far better than what we have, someone did mention the performances of the "long term" members of this team not doing very well and that would appear to be the case, no one really standing out week on week with the big scores, maybe the possible exception of Ricky Wells, easily the most consistent, but not enough back up when needed to put us in the mix? End of last season should have been the clear out stakes as the way this one has gone it could well become the "clearing off" stakes?
  22. As I've already stated in the previous thread for this match, 50-40 to Comets!!
