And the best, and only club, in sarf-east London my son...Dulwich Amlet
-
Yeah Batch still in the team, still riding at The Abbey, tootling round in front of 500 fans, as the other 2000 who were at the Farewell have had enough of being buggered around! If Swindon don't move into the new stadium cant see Elite speedway being viable as they wont have enough fans or money to pay the riders again. Remember the Patch era, the sponsors wont keep bailing them out again. Was great to see Briggo, Broady, Crashby, Dukey, Keener etc., again, reminders of much better times and packed terraces on a Saturday night at the famous old stadium. Even the back-straight bogs were fashionable then! Swindon speedway club and Tezza should be looking at clubs such as Poole and Glasgow to see how they still attract good and increased numbers and keep the fans happy. Bloody shambles up at The Abbey IMO. There's plenty of other ways to spend 17 quid.

Shows how good Bjorn Knutson was, never outside the top 4 in the 60s, was my fav rider in the mid-60s when he was at West Am, and I watched him when living in London, then Briggo was me fav when I moved to Swindon in 68. Would be good to see rest of 60s ratings and when Mauger takes over from him as number 1. Nordin, Harrfeldt, McKinlay, and Blueboy Booey also superb riders from that era. Remember West Am had a brilliant team when they won the league in 65. Sad not to see Squibbo the New Cross Maestro in there!

"When yer' best mate's in a wheelchair and the track's crap what do you expect?". It was the follow on from his ultra crap performance in the semi against Belle Vue. And he 's supposed to be a captain! totally immature and unprofessional. Zengy is fully committed and should be an automatic pick, he wants to ride for Swindon, Batch doesn't, and they would probably lose even more fans if he is included in next season's line-up.

I drive past every day mate, will let you know if I spot a wheelbarrow or screwdriver. My mate has got another job as he got fed-up waiting to start work chippying on the new stadium. -
Tried getting onto the A419 today by the stadium...a sodding total standstill. Swindon, after Warrington, is supposed to have the best income/house price ratio Don't know anyone from Swindon who has moved to Newport, although know a few peeps who have moved to Chepstow, Caldicot, Monmouth, Wye Valley, Swansea, and Pembrokeshire. My daughter loved being at Uni in Swansea.

Yes peeps mainly from Berkshire/Oxfordshire want to buy houses in the Swindon area as on average they are over 100 grand cheaper than Reading and Oxford. Then they try to commute back east on increasingly choked-up roads.

You should have eaten gravel like what we had to lad

Hopefully they wont get them mixed up, and they will be labelled correctly. The speedway track is a bit wider than the railtrack so there could be problems if they don't get it right, and the cost of 2.5 billion would have to be paid by Tezza Russell! As I said it was removed by English heritage so ask them? More of a concern is who is on duty up there now sidney has left?

Always makes I laugh it dos when these bloody keyboard warriors talk about a rider bottling it, when they would crap themselves if they sat on a machine. Good news...the steel girders for the new stadium have been delivered to the old park n' ride car park. There will be no bogs on the new back-straight, we are hoping the old listed building can be transferred block-by-block to the new site. The green gunk was removed by English Heritage last year.

Well done Greg...fantastic achievement, he won the last one all those years ago! even Frankie Dettori also 45 is still banging 'em in. My bruv in Oz text me from the stadium about the Pedersen/Masters punch-up. What can you expect from this forum, so much negativity. -
Oooh are...by that Crammer Pond in Devoizes, them there smugglers raked thye moon...even Swindon Town were known as The Moonrakers/Railwaymen /Robins many years ago! "Oi cant read oi cant write that don't really matter, oi comes from Wiltshirre and oi can droive a tractor."

You've deserted your post without permission, let the side down sid. Death by firing squad at dawn for you mate. I cant take over anyway I work full-time! Briggo looking great for his age...Dukey's still got his ponytail, managed to have a brief chat with him, about the time Mac Woolford, the Purton-flyer, crashed into the post and sent the sparks flying. Will never be forgotten by those aged 55-plus! -

I wonder if Sidney is still on guard duty in those back-straight bogs up at The Abbey..about time someone else took over his watch..he's been there for ages! -
Swindon have a great bunch of loyal fans, have had to put up with some crap over the years...the lack of effort by the riders because of not being paid, and relative lack of success, but these hardy thousand plus souls come back for more. The Robins have been going for 66 years, a long time before Tezza was even born. Now firmly established as a top 4 club the Arsenal of British speedway,,thanks to Rosco's management skills, the fanatical Robins fans deserve a new stadium, honesty, a top side, and don't want to be messed around by promoters. Need to be a Poole Mk.2 as every club should aspire to become. A good team in new surroundings could get the crowds up to the Poole level of 2000, and give the town a team to be proud of, unlike struggling STFC. A long way from the 4-8000 folk who turned up in the days of Briggo, Ashby, Kilby, Broady etc., but those days are long gone in British speedway.
