  1. where did i say that, i said 'riders like this', not 'these riders'
  2. I would argue its riders like this that have been one of the downfalls of the sport and taking team spots away from younger riders. Where is that stat again with how many young riders have retired over the past few years?
  3. right ive finally convinced myself that you are actually trolling with every post.
  4. 5 man teams would be 6 rides per meeting each too, automatically boosting the riders points money but the club could potentially save on equipment, signing on fees etc.
  5. That doesnt seem to happen though, and hasnt happened in the previous 20+ years so why would it start happening now?
  6. i think the pushback would be it leaves the prem with 4 teams, and that isnt feasible so then the championship promoters are thinking the other prem teams will also want to move down, potentially affecting current team building.
  7. A lot of your posts are massive assumptions. Firstly you think all non uk riders would leave the league. Secondly you think everyone will spend £30 (i dont buy a programme or a drink or pay for parking). Thirdly you've mentioned it would be a 25 point limit, which is probably a total guess. £20 for a 5 man team of something like: (using Poole as your example) Lawson Rowe Thomsen Cairns Rushen is not unreasonable.
  8. So after all these calculations how many riders do you think will be available?
  9. theyre not wrong though, you just need a track and you can go racing, the setup at peterborough is pretty much made for that with the banking offering good viewing already.
  10. practically all of the teams in the premier have had (long) spells in the second division, i cant see why they are against it either. Maybe they are more worried about the rider shortage, or maybe championship teams dont want more teams to compete with?
  11. I would say 100% of people who were spoken too know workington have a track already. Good for them on selling 'a bit' of merchandise.
  12. I think thats a big assumption that everyone arguing for one league is not a fan of the prem. I am, but logic and history dictates its not working and not affordable in the current climate, if and when it gets to a point that it is then more the merrier, i would like nothing more than two full leagues of teams but it just isnt managable.
  13. So what happens if we get to January and there are still only 5 confirmed prem teams? Does the premiership have a year off? Is a team forced to move up against there will?
  14. 14 teams with 5 man teams needs 70 riders, this gives each rider 6 rides a meeting (ignoring any potential replacement rides). This in theory would cut down on the amount of signing on fees per rider, less cost of machinery etc but riders could earn more with more riders and more points money. As a more radical solution I’d be tempted to go down the route of one big league where each meeting is a four team tournament, you then have only 4 riders per team (maybe a fifth youngster) and the potential of three sets of away fans instead of just one.
  15. They haven’t, but I’ve read on here multiple times this season that the crowds have been poor
  16. They haven’t, but I’ve read on here multiple times this season that the crowds have been poor
  17. Then you read that Belle Vue had some of the lowest crowds ever this season, so has that had any affect?
  18. I think it says a lot really that even teams like Poole can’t compete in the premiership, makes you wonder how the teams currently in the top league do have the money to afford it, it cannot be sustainable anymore
  19. which is? it definitely isnt forcing two teams up for a start...
  20. I don’t think anyone is under the illusion one league would solve all of speedways problems, but it might be a necessity the way things are going.
  21. exactly which is why no one would take it seriously. I think its time to admit the illusion of a top league has failed and to cut their cloth accordingly and drop to one big league with less riders per team.
