I absolutely hated watching the Peterborough promotion celebrating their league win a few years ago knowing a few days later they would be at Kings Lynn with their merch on.

this is probably what is going to happen at this point with the view of sorting the mess out for 2027, but they can barely manage to conjure up a league 4 months away let alone plan for 2027.

it basically said as much in the speedway star, but what is he expecting to happen? a team being forced to run in the premiership to make it up to 6? which is still a stupidly low number for a top league.

Big crowds at national league level too, maybe there is a lesson there somewhere…

the current league setup also 'sucks' though. Cant compare something that happened 30 years ago to now, at the end of the day if Belle Vue dont like it the options are either put up with it or dont run.

Just because one team made it work doesn’t mean all the others will, how many teams have come and gone in the top league now? None of them could make it work, it just doesn’t work in this country anymore unless you have deep pockets or sponsors with even deeper pockets

it isnt though is it, its a complete joke to even call it a league with just five teams. the sport has barely any credibility as it is, there will be even less if the top 'league' has so few teams.

Ive seen moments of absolute quality in the national league and championship too, its not just the world class riders. Its obvious at this point the premiership experiment has failed and clubs (apart from maybe two) cannot afford to fork out the big contracts anymore.

Think I read previously that this has been looked at fairly recently but there’s a rule that means it can’t happen as it’s too close to Kings Lynn?

i was thinking about this earlier and whether a north/south would work, allows double up/sideways and should give riders enough meetings as well as more local derbys

I would argue its riders like this that have been one of the downfalls of the sport and taking team spots away from younger riders. Where is that stat again with how many young riders have retired over the past few years?

5 man teams would be 6 rides per meeting each too, automatically boosting the riders points money but the club could potentially save on equipment, signing on fees etc.

That doesnt seem to happen though, and hasnt happened in the previous 20+ years so why would it start happening now?
