  1. As a Leicester supporter I'd be in favour of restrictions and if anything we're even more top heavy than Poole this year. Also Leicester need Birmingham and vice-versa so there's a self interest aspect as well
  2. Had to take riders left on the shelf for 2022 and many of them injury-prone through their careers, so no surprise the way it's panned out with the team. The manager needs to dial down the volume on the "unlucky" theme music because it starts to get too repetitive and can become self-fulfilling and it could put potential sponsors off. Hopefully there haven't been problems with riders being paid this year, and that there will be tighter top-end team building restrictions brought in for 2023 to help level the playing field in the championship
  3. The presenters of the British final were floundering badly after rain brought it to a halt, switching between each other like they were playing a game of pass the turd. This wasn't their fault, however, more likely poor direction belying lack of preparation for something which was very predictable to happen.
  4. I don't agree completely with that. There is a current dearth of British riders of age approx 25-35 because of a lack of co-ordinated rider development initiatives. Reasons for that? Easier and cheaper to bring in foreign riders and the money from TV being spaffed up the wall on ridiculous money to star riders - again, mostly foreign. The Brexit argument you forward is only responsible for some of the shortage
  5. Max Clegg - enigma! Beaten by Cole in heat 2, then pulls a corker in heat 11. Sort of did the same at Scunny. I recall a story (I think it was true) of Martin Rogers holding a toy gun to a rider's head as a way of motivating him to up his game on one occasion. It might have been Greg Szczpanik who was usually scoring 000 but on that occasion Martin's methods worked. So I wonder which method Stewart Dickson is using to get Cleggy motivated later in matches?
  6. Is the average being used for Clegg his start of season one? With Newcastle's results and league points having been expunged from the championship table, their riders stats should be erased, too. Or is this too logical?
  7. Leicester building a collection of Maxes Max 1 - Clegg Max 2 - Perry Max 3 - James Who will be next? Hope Max 1 is better at keeping his front wheel on the track than he was back in 2014
  8. As at least one other poster has said, Eurosport should have switched to informing the viewers about the role air fences play in rider safety, and how sometimes fixing them isn't a straightforward matter. This could have been done by Tatum and Nicholas instead viewers were treated to semi-coherent Sam and Abby from the crèche. It was only when Chris Louis came to the rescue that any semblance of order was restored, but again, they could have asked him to talk about rider safety.
  9. May be better for Cook to take some time out and recover rather than soldier on with injuries.
  10. Well if you're right, that's what I'd figured to be the case. Possibly the rider who is going to displace the Lions in-comer is Anders Rowe?
  11. So who will be the new No 7 when the facility for Anders Rowe expires?
  12. Concussion is not a minor matter. Especially with someone who's already suffered one no so long ago
  13. Harris will be guesting for himself, so not available for other clubs
  14. And there was I thinking it was some conspiracy plot by Poole and BSPL to erase the match
  15. Worrall -Thompson, a tasty combo for Leicester, including tonight up against a pair of Cooks and Lawson at Poole. Looking forward to a heat which finishes Worrall Thompson Lawson Cook
  16. If he pays for his own travel costs, that could be different? It's sounding like Anders Rowe's departure is down to him making the decision rather than Leicester. So the tactic of waiting until his average goes above 4 before replacing looks like a genius move.
  17. Think you've answered your question pretty well there
  18. This brings to mind the Peter Ljung situation at Leicester a few years ago (2014?) when the promotion at the time had taken the club into the top tier and struggled to sign riders. All kinds of smoke and mirrors went on to distract supporters from what transpired was only a short term deal. I think the same probably applied with Mikkel Mikkelsen. If you still trusted David Hemsley by then, only complete fools continued to, afterwards
  19. If there is a maximum points limit for the top three riders in any team, there should be a minimum points level too. But there would also need to be some kind of payment assurance in place for these riders, to help counter reluctance to sign with certain clubs.
  20. Hope not - don't want to go incurring a big wage bill too early in the season
  21. It was the outrageously bogus claims the former promoter (and track designer) used to make, which probably did most to annoy and drove many away although the strung out processions of course did so too. But even then an away rider with brains could figure out how to pass, including using an outside line (Joe Screen). Same now
