think a clear front page would clearly look better on the shelves in newsagents as well, it stands out more

you can only go by experience, and i was gripped as a kid, i loved the smell, colour, arguments, collecting a different riders coloured photo every week, making a scrapbook...would kids do scrapbooks these days?...the stadia wasnt important to me, it was wanting my team to win, music helps build the tension i suppose..getting a riders autograph in the programme when they had a full page picture, with a autograph bit at bottom of page was brill getting the weekly speedway star, especially if your rider/team was on front page, preferred speedway star when front back page had full colour foto with no print over it

The Doubling-up Rule Next Season

when you go into any kind of job in life, you know the wage structure, gambles you take, a speedway rider is no different, you weigh up whether you wanna take that risk. injuries, machine failures are all part of that added risk..a rider doesnt race for me or you in the crowd, he race because its his "choice"..like in most jobs, some are more successful than others... -
who suggested coventry should have a gp ahead of the millenium????????????????

The Doubling-up Rule Next Season

as a fan its not our problem about riders earning a living...and i know that may sound harsh, but as a SPORT, a fan wants to follow his/her own team -
i find that hard to believe..be nice if someone in the know back that up?..im convinced that place can hold around 8-11,000?

The Doubling-up Rule Next Season
ColinMills replied to G the Bee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
a comment was made bout riders doubling up "to earn a living"..that cant be a reason for doubling up surely? if this is proper sport, the fans need 7 riders...this system is a major cause to the downfall of speedway..imo -
51.4 seconds!.......sorry, that was too tempting!
-
and your point is?? i happened to say it was MY preferred british gp ground..did i mention roof/capacity/viewing area/car parking/ err NO.......apologies if MY preferred gp doesnt match yours.. if brandon only holds 4.500 my eyesight must be bad!
-

davey was never a no1, pusey was, but yes, top averaged riders in their teams, but couldnt hold down a regualar england spot -
i said the cardiff gp has stagnated, its not growing..i dont think for 1 instance i knocked it,40k is a great turnout..i would say the same for gothenburg, a track i visited, some good camera work by sky who try to make the place look busier than it actually is..historically world finals in britain were always way higher than league crowds...yes, cardiff is great one off spectacle, but speedway in general is having not one iota of spin off from it.....

Encouraging Young People To Become Fans!

as a kid, thursday night was speedway night..i was home by 10pm, it never got in the way of my schooling..hakes was friday at 8, dont be late, k.lynn was sunshine speedway......i dont get why people think week day speedway is too late for kids, it dont have any effect in footy -
i stand by what i said, cardiff has stagnated, it needs to be in england
-
can you recall any classic sky meetings?? league ones??.....in my memory i recall many good wtc and gps..just wonder whether the crowds make a difference to the actual action on track? excuse me for "harping on" about the past, but a tv commentator can make or break the viewing, i dont recall dave lanning pandering to new comers..do you watch match of the day and listen to "3 pts for a win" etc?

i sound old (only 46), but in the past mike lanham, tony davey, dave morton, ian turner, bob kilby, ted howgego, kevin jolly, chris pusy to name just a few, were middle order/second string, who couldnt get into the national squad..if only we had that calibre nowadays!!! -

gb probably struggle with strongest 4, so why put weaker riders in? what do they learn 50 yrds at the back?.also, can you imagine how flat the atmosphere would be after 6 races? for tv and the crowd? -

think the nationality of a rider is one of speedways smallest problems at the moment! -
if you compare the awful sky meetings of today, to that of world of sport. theres your answer?.......dave lanning probably speedways best ever commentator?..id suggest the "younger" speedway audience watch a bit of you tube and check it out, white city etc
