  1. to effectively knock him out of the top 8, only to then hand him a wildcard would be ridiculous
  2. carbon copy of myself this argument/discussion could go on and on..i just dont see how we can be described as dinosaurs, with our viewpoints. not everything modern works..hence rider sharing..
  3. spot on....anybody could manage nowadays, as moxey says, it has to fall at the right time now, theres no tactics in that
  4. it never gave closer scores, top teams like witches in 75/76 were still trouncing everyone, had loads of 51.27 scorelines. what it did do, was give managers far more options and to be far more tactical. yes ht8 was always the easy choice, but as i said before, mike lanham would often pop out and create magical moment beatin a ht leader
  5. im 46, if that class me as old, so be it..the word "tactical substitution" is clearly better than the word "joker"..moxey post was spot on......as us "old" ones think everything was better, well maybe it was? if having 7 riders in a team that dont float about everyday is "old" i prefer that..if having individual leathers is "old" i prefer that too. if having the top team champions, guilty yet again!.....one thing i am sure about, is the fact speedway WAS healthy, it WAS more full on the terraces, and it WASNT such a laughing stock it now is
  6. double points is obviously crazy. hence the word joker!
  7. think the top heavy sides with 3 heat leaders it helped, but imo, the most succesful sides have always been sides built that way....
  8. id make him go throug the qualifyers, and not hand it to him on a plate, then just maybe, he may respect it a bit more!
  9. so if they ban him and he drop out of the top 8, you know full well, some idiot will hand him a wildcard next year!
  10. the facts are he"s banned because he has taken something illegal...FACT.. in which case he should be thrown out..simple
  11. at last....middlo comments in daily star, is exactly what i have been on about for ages..he states "it doesnt matter, most of the season, its about coming to the boil for the play offs"........"it doesnt matter"....crowds are high in the play offs, cos its a meaningful match..crowds are down for 5 months cos it doesnt matter..if your bottom, crowds are down anyway, and if your clear top it doesnt matter..why spend £50 for a family night out, if it "doesnt matter"..people who think play offs are the saviour of clubs are mistaken, as they only get back, what they lose early season..quite frankly "it doesnt matter"
  12. imo the tac sub rule worked extremely well in the boom years, there were still thrashings of 51-27 etc, the managers had loads of options under that ruling..
  13. oh dont get me started!...but yes, golden days, proper teams, crowds, better individual leathers, john berry, yellow/black helmet, better programmes, world of sport with dave lanning....
  14. i see...i do think theres lots of options under the old ruling myself. i recall wolves visiting foxhall a few times and the karlsson brothers (before michael max), and them 2 alone virtually winning the match, with little back up
  15. i never saw a swedish lge, is the tac sub rule the same as the old british lge ruling?
  16. i recall many ht8 5.1s, but i also remember mike lanham and ted howgego popping out and producing brilliant races beating a heat leader..i guess as blackshadow says, matter of opinion
  17. you just stated the easy move, you could make changes in far more races than that, and unlike now, you had more moves with the reserves who only had to have 2 outtings..was far more permatations. ht11 for away team was always nice as well
  18. imo, i think the top 6 for pboro is maybe out of reach with these 3 new faces
  19. personally liked tac sub rule, thought it gave managers loads of options. a trained monkey could manage today
  20. the thing that would hold back promotion/relegation is the fact certain promoters in prem DONT wanna move up!
  21. you know how small this sport is, when someone famous mention speedway, and everyone get excited about it!
  22. the ko cup used to be a great competition, until yet again, the powers that be, changed the rules of it...
  23. im sure it would be a newsworthy move, and come relegation time, im sure you would see more inches of coverage in the press
