Super Heat - Why its not right!!
Teromaafan replied to dontforgetthefueltapsbruv's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I seem to recall that teams had the option to play a joker and score double points in the next race/event! How could you possibly bring that idea into a professional sport like speedway đ (Just like they did a few seasons ago đ). -

Two points for a win. One point for a draw. One point for the aggregate win. No super heats. If scores are level on aggregate, adopt a count back approach, fewest last places over the two legs. Super heats are ultimately about not finishing last to put the emphasis on league racing being a team sport. The outcome of a single race would therefore replaced with teams performances over two meetings, thus reflecting what the aggregate point is supposedly about. -

How do the Polish TS rules differ to ours out of interest? -

Don't see how you can plan for heat 15 with a super heat in mind. Whether you are in front or behind you will surely be targeting maximum points from heat 15. -
Whilst I enjoy watching the Lions away, itâs probably as well that TNT or BSN didnât cover this. The Updates site suggests this was a s*it show from Lynn and wouldnât have been worth paying to watch. Some might question The Starâs timing and choice of a T/S, but in all honesty it was always going to mean diddly squat on the meeting outcome. Although Dickson was probably quite surprised how easily Lynn rolled over, he will be keeping a close eye on their riders from here on with a view to potential guest options for the play offs. At this stage though, none of them would be worth approaching as an alternative to the continued use of R/R for Becker.

Cook is a six point rider (check his average if you donât believe me). His recent scores in Poland would suggest that his injury isnât so bad. Whilst I have a degree of sympathy regarding his attitude to British speedway, Lynn do have previous with this scenario do they not? The Stars were hardly ripping up trees before he got injured were they?. To say that it is glaringly obvious that Lynn would have made the play offs is therefore deluded. Out of interest, care to inform us as to which of the current top four teams you think Lynn would have finished above?

Yes, Iâve looked at this again. I think I got my wires crossed. The wording of the SCB rules regarding guests relates to riders in a teams top five allowance for an additional 5% on averages for guests standing in for a rider in a home meeting (which I was aware of). An additional clarifying sentence along the lines of âguests outside of a teams top five are permitted but the extra 5% is not applicableâ could perhaps be included. Anyway, trivial, move on!
-
I must have looked at an old ruling then, my bad đ

Guest riders are limited to a teamâs top five. Cook is down to a reserve berth for August.

With a team built around having a strong reserve, what could possibly go wrong? đ

I get the arguments on both sides for the heat 6 incident, but the last thing the ref should do is have all four back. Itâs not first bend bunching or an unsatisfactory start so the ref has to exclude one rider or the other. Letâs face it, it could have been either of them. The ref is going to get flak from one side or the other but itâs something they have to live with. Fortunately it did not impact on the outcome of the meeting as Lynn were woeful. Taking seven rides is a big ask on a rider and usually it takes its toll.Klindt simply did not get any support. Well done the Lions đŚ

The team is built to have a strong reserve my a*se đ, sorry but that is not what how it was planned! Letâs face it, they could not attract good enough riders to provide a decent heat leader spearhead. Lynn have a team of six pointers on a merry-go-round who take it in turns to be at reserve, number one and all positions in between. Based on your wording, they started with a six pointer at reserve and then picked five others above this average to build a team. Having a reserve that you can look to for additional rides is a reflection on how poorly the riders in the main body of the team are performing. Thatâs okay on the night, but to see it as a tactical option on a regular basis just shows that, yes, it is actually desperation! Okay, put my opinion to one side and look at where Lynn will finish in a league of seven teams.

Just casting my mind back to the last time Lions reached the final of this competition in 1975 against Belle Vue. I remember the first leg being at Blackbird Road which the Lions lost 40-38. Even as a boy I knew it was all over as nobody ever won at Belle Vue. Seem to recall that the Aces were spearheaded by Collins and Morton with Sjosten and Wilkinson in support. Is my memory correct? Canât remember the score in the return leg but I think we kept the Aces below 50.

Its one thing to have a good reserve who can be an option on the night for riders having an off night, but its a different matter when you're looking at giving them seven rides before a wheel is turned. The latter option (which I think is what Lynn will be looking at) is a massive risk, as good as Klindt can be at Leicester.
-
Hope your not a betting man! Mind you I think you would get decent odds on Lynn if you fancied a flutter. Pretty sure Dickson will have the home track sorted on Thursday to snuff out any possible Lynn fight back. A bit of grip on the start line and then nice and slick every where else. This is now the Lions to lose.

Frickeâs R/R contribution was restricted to heat 8, against the oppositionâs No.2 & No.7. Whilst it meant a nailed on heat win, its most likely that any of the main body of the team would win that race. Although Max is on fire at the moment, him taking one less ride is unlikely to have an impact on the outcome of the tie.

Looking at the league table they need a few snookersđ¤¨

Yes I remember that. If he can get half of that on Monday though Iâd be staggered. His average is what it is for a reason. As a Lions fan I see Lynnâs biggest threat as Klindt. It would not surprise me if he were to be given 12 or more rides over the two legs. He rides the Leicester track as well anyone on his day. Thing is with Lynn, theyâre all six pointers and you never know what to expect on the night. Anyway, Iâm expecting a good final between two teams who are not top heavy (one nine pointer) and similarly built. I see BSN are covering both legs which is great, as Iâm not confident about TNT even getting the tricky captains coin toss right.
