Would Pontus Aspgren lay down on the second lap of the title decider to try and get it stopped again?

No tougher than if it was Simon Stead. -
Harsh, but true. Very fair description of team manager.

Premier League Riders Championship - Sheffield 6th Sep

Pedantic, I know --- but shouldn't this all be transferred to the "Individuals and Shared Events" section? -
Well done Plymouth, a solid team that got it very right on the night. The very idea that Somerset (or any promotion) would "throw" a match at home is quite laughable. Anyone who believes that has no concept of business principles. The teams that have allegedly done this in the past (Poole at Swindon, Glasgow at Edinburgh) did so on away tracks, and did so before the rolling averages were brought in to successfully stop such despicable affairs. This was just an upset of a result -- like Rye at Berwick last week -- and should be recognised as a refreshing example of how speedway can still be "a funny old game".

Absolutely. Awful roller, and awful when he misses it. -
To quote their newsletter: At management level the club runs very well, very smoothly. We enjoy a massive wealth of adminstrational experience and an exceptional range of worldwide contacts throughout speedway through the services of Lawrence Heppell, Dick Barrie, Dennis McCleary and so many other tireless volunteers. These people have proven their ability to serve the directors, and allowed Berwick's reputation within speedway to rise to a level where we can be looked upon as the BSPA's, Sky Sports and even the FIM's go-to club when a safe pair of hands are required to present the biggest of events. As a going concern therefore, this is not a bad club to become more involved in -- but the time required and finances involved should not be underestimated. However, the directors have offered potential investors or buyers more than two months to declare their interest and allow due diligence to be carried out (on both sides of the table) before any deadline day.

This thread is not about speedway in general, there are other threads on here for that. This is about the survival and future of Berwick Bandits after fifty years. The statement, and the follow-up newsletter, make it clear that the directors are collectively exhausted by trying to keep the club going, and are seeking new people to join them, or a new owner to buy the whole show. Let's regroup, and go from there. How can we help them?

Aye, and there's the rub (Hamlet)

WTF? I was being totally-supportive. It is an excellent idea, and I was encouraging spittalbandit to take the idea to the next stages?

Very well, go forward with your plan to raise a very credible £52,000 pa. Hold a meeting, advertise it well, and sign up your 100 contributors. Choose a small committee and decide who is to be your representative. Approach the current, or any new promotion, and ask for representation on the board. Er, that's it.

National League don't want a club so far north. -
I think that, as only those with prior accreditation may engage in any photography at a licensed speedway, your illegal actions might get you an official warning if you try to 'present' it as evidence. The rule-book already says (14.9.2) the only acceptable video evidence is that of a recognised company, specifying that in the absence of such evidence decisions have to be made without referral to any (unrecognised) video or replay.

Pretty clear to me. ...." the MC, who will determine the facility and the period of the rider's inactivity ".....

He did. Twice! -
According to witnesses, earlier this season Sam Masters took exception to something Lasse Bjerre had done during a race (neither came off) and at the end of the heat he rode into Bjerre, knoocking him off. Masters then parked his bike, ran over to where Bjerre was lying on the track and started beating him up. Masters was fined by the referee and the meeting went on. No word of further penalties. This sounds similar to the current case. Move on please.

If your rider's got a confidence problem, the wholehearted lack of support coming through these pages isn't going to help him. Which in turn, isn't going to help your team. -

I think you'll find that, when a rider withdraws from a meeting without falling off, claiming he's reactivated a previous injury, that 28 days is about right. How long do you want Dimitri Berge's facility to run, by the way? -
This is all very entertaining. Was this video evidence part of an authorised filming (ie, licensed by Go-Speed) or just a guy in the crowd with a camcorder? As a licenced promoter, Mr Godfrey may be in far more trouble than any of the squabbling riders on either side if he really led a sit-down strike, allowing members of the public onto the track to join him.

If David Howe was signed off during Tigers' match at Berwick, there would be a 28-day facility to cover his absence. Which will end, I guess, on Saturday, 28 days after the meeting at Berwick. Discuss? -
