You could well be right, though I think Fricke was better then some others who are in. -
World’s best 15?
OveFundinFan replied to customhouseregular's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
2024 GP line up includes riders included not because they qualified on the track, but chosen for “political” reasons. It’s obvious the powers that be have tried to expand the number of different nationalities, so Kvech is included. Milik is no longer a GP contender but a GP is held in Prague, so stick a Czech in for the whole season. Personally I don’t think he ready yet. Lebedevs is the first rider to represent Latvia for a whole GP season. On “his day” he probably capable of winning a GP, but he has to prove he can cope with 10GPs, it’s a tough ask. It’s difficult job the selectors have, it’s probably true you could take 10 riders out, put a different 10 in and the racing will be just as good. Missing from last year of notable worth is Fricke ( and that was a surprise to me”, Anders Thomson, Janowski (yes he had a bad year but…). Let’s not forget riders have 2 different events that they are able to qualify from….. 4 GP places for the following year, that’s over 25% of the field. Add in the fact BSF members have been shouting for new faces in the GPs for a few seasons now, well this year the selectors have put in new faces…..and immediately BSF member were complaining they were the “wrong” new faces. Who would be a selector if they were not thick skinned to take all the flack. -
No reason why pit crew attire should cost a lot. Traditional mechanic attire has always been one piece overalls. It’s not a fashion show. Relatively cheap and practical. Doesn’t matter what colour so long as each pit crew is the same. In hot weather standard men’s under garments would be ok. Sorted.

No, not seen it. Any good? Where is it available?
-
The most sensible part of this new idea is that it is only for two meetings, then hopefully it will be dropped.

Zmarzlik is a throttle jammer, tends to go where he shouldn’t but gets away with it. But has finesse as well. One day it may all go wrong. I hope I am wrong n that.

That’s good to know. rev your last comment……they all do it, so if you move from Virgin it’s highly likely the “new” supplier will be doing the same. It’s crazy and needs sorting but I won’t hold my breath.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you get in that package and what do you pay? I have a BT broadband pack (have a landline too) and it costs just over £30per month, 74mbs. 12 months ago I was paying £62pm which included tv and sport that gave me MotoGP. TV pack was rubbish and paying for sport when all I watched was MotoGP (BT had lost the speedway GP contract couple year ago) was way too much monthly, so it went. What I find ridiculous is that you have a 2 year contract that if you want to get out of it BT can charge you the remainder of the contract, yet they can put up the monthly fee every 12 months by a large amount…and it’s all approved. We are in “rip off Britain”.

Sport related Manslaughter charge
OveFundinFan replied to HGould's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
but if you knock someone out the crowd love it…..and the very fact someone has been knocked out means the brain has suffered a trauma that could cause death. -
The last two years I have paid £60 each year for 12 months access Discovery+ ie Entertainment and Sport. Hugh amount of entertainment and sport wasn’t shabby either. Speedway GPs, plus whatever flavour the world pairs/team was on, British championship, good number of British Premiership. No MotoGP, but can’t have everything. So with the link between BT Sport (which did have MotoGP but not speedway, for £30 per month) I was a bit worried what the charges would be 2024 to watch speedway GP’s etc. Thinking it could be anywhere between £60 per year to £30 per month or maybe more! Pleasantly surprised to receive a notification this afternoon with a link to what is happening at TNTs, the new enterprise that encompasses BT Sport and Discovery+.. see the link I got today www.cordbusters.co.uk and scroll down looking for…. Discovery+ UK Revamp: Bigger Bills Ahead For Sports Fans There is now 3 packages available : Basic (no sport), Standard (formally Entertainment+Sport) £6.99pm, gives Basic with additional Sports content from Eurosport, Premium £29.99pm, gives Standard plus TNT Sports. So for two years been paying £5pm, for 2024 will be paying £7pm. Happy with that, really did think it was going to be well above my affordability. For Discovery+ you can use app on your mobile, tablet, computer. I recommend a ROKU streaming stick, needs a HDMI connection on your TV. Hope this helps

SGP venues for 2024
OveFundinFan replied to 1Tsunami's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Don’t worry, the stands could be filled with Poles. To them Manchester will be like Torun, Warsaw or Wrocław is to a Brit. Manchester has a lot of history and is surrounded by a lot lovely countryside. Sometimes we don’t really appreciate what’s on our own doorstep, the grass is always greener thing……….and of course that also applies to a Pole living in Torun, Warsaw or Wrocław. Apart from the above, you sound like another who is advocating no world championship or similar top draw events should ever be held in Britain because potential venues in your mind are boring. Wonderful. -

So, you got your holiday ticket booked for Donji Kraljevec??? Good luck in getting a room booked in the local village. And the racing is not so “hot” either. -

Manchester City centre must be what, 1.5 mile away from NSS, and it’s as much a vibrant city centre as any cities in Poland. But you would rather have Brit fans travel 400 mile or more to a city centre elsewhere. British speedway down in the dumps and you don’t want it to have a world class event. I find that amazing. You know very well the speedway racing would be amazing at NSS. Some speedway GP tracks are in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of forest even. The racing can be lousy at some but others produce amazing racing and true supporters flock there because……. it’s speedway racing at its best. When professional speedway is dead in the UK you will be wishing people with an attitude like yours would have supported the fact a UK speedway track is deemed worthy of of top class meeting that encompasses the worlds top speedway riders. -
I agree, some good riders in the eastern block who could have been serious contenders for world championship 1-2-3 if they could have got more racing in the UK Havimg said that, Plechanov, and to a slightly lesser extent Samarodov seemed to get the knack of Wembley. There would probably have been nothing like Wembley track behind the iron curtain.

Well said.

but that penalises the fans. Or perhaps you thinking there is so few of them who would care.

That's sad to hear. Was only thinking of him the other day. Heck of a nice man and a good steady rider. When he rode for Belle Vue he lived in Partington, same village where the Collins/Morton clan was from (and they were then active riding around the Collins farm). My dad had a railway arch as a garage, plenty room for dads car plus Bob's speedway bike and gear. It would be 1963 when Bob was invited to present trophies at the Manchester Gran Prix cycle speedway championship at the Carrs Wood, Gately track. He asked Mum, Dad and myself along. That was my introduction to cycle speedway, starting as a rider in the Manchester winter league that same year. Sad news indeed, but memories are priceless.

Ok, I now seen the race, twice. For me, all four back. If the ref had to see one go I would have said Holder.

Anyone know if this heat is available on you tube or anywhere?

Who COULD Have Been a Major Force in World Speedway?
OveFundinFan replied to chunky's topic in Years Gone By
I like Jan Kolodzeij style, about the right size for a speedway rider too. He is fast, a good gater, but too cautious. Bit like Artem Laguta and to a lesser extent, Leon Madsen. -
Sad to hear this. Certainly was a caracter.

It would be interesting to know what RogerM22 considers to be a Chris Holders fluke.

No one flukes a world title……. not in modern GP times anyway.
