  1. Can't answer that one False Dawn. Norbold would know I'm sure.
  2. Finally got to see this film after all these years. Some great vintage speedway footage from New Cross. Well worth a look.
  3. I have,,, Rol Stobart Eric Chitty Tiger Stevenson Gus Kuhn Arthur Atkinson Billy Lamont Bronco Dixson Minny Wahn Stan Greatrex Tommy Croombs Fay Taylour Ken Brett Charlie Spinks Mick Murphy Kid Curtis
  4. On the Sportowefakty live updates page, cumulative team totals section, they have Zmarzlik as B. Frostbite.
  5. Many thanks for that. I have a copy of Speedway in London and also Hammerin' Round but I have filed them away somewhere, so I was relying on memory. Always dodgy.
  6. Jack Young was signed in 1952 so the track length would have been reduced then.
  7. A fantastic place to watch speedway. I loved it and still miss it. West Ham closed in the 50;s and the track length was reduced before they closed. If memory serves (could be faulty) it was reduced to satisfy Jack Young c. 1953. Norbold will know for sure.
  8. The track length was reduced way before 1964 but I forget when.
  9. Link for live stream... http://bit.ly/2tK2aa1 Live Facebook stream
  10. I am pretty certain West Ham had a crowd of 80,00 on more than one occasion. Norbold will know for sure, 80,000
  11. A man after my own heart Ken. Absolutely nothing though I accept this is a Wimbledon thread. Perhaps I should start a "Who loved Custom House and why" thread. (the stadium and track I mean, not my romantic past?. I could probably bore for England discussing West Ham. There was nowhere like it apart from Hyde Road and nowhere like it today.
  12. No way was 4 laps of Plough Lane equal to one mile. Not even 4 laps of Custom House measured one mile, though the original Custom house track length of 440 yards did make a 4 lap heat equal one mile exactly.
  13. March 30th. Bumper issue ordered and paid for. Terrific read and great value.
  14. West Ham put in a poor performance?...never!
  15. You do a great job keeping us up to date. Well done.
  16. It's not only us 'ammers who have great memories of west Ham
  17. Barring unforseen problems it has to be Krasnikov, probably with maximum points.
  18. Peter Craven Freddie Williams Tommy Price Kenny Carter Peter Collins John Louis Ray Wilson Split Waterman Martin Ashby
