  1. Back in the 60's we would go by coach to Great Yarmouth for the day then on to Kings Lynn to cheer on the 'Ammers. Great days.
  2. I used to watch Clive Hitch regularly on Sunday afternoons at Rye House 1960-1964. A very approachable man...my Dad bought a van off him (1961 I think). Clive was a Red Devil regular along with Geoff Mudge, Len Silver, the McGillivrays and Tommy Sweetman. I remember them all.
  3. The Netherlands is easy to get to from anywhere in Western Europe...good road network and cheap flights to Amsterdam from very many airports should ensure a good crowd.
  4. Interested to see a certain Victor Trofimov Jr. competing. I well remember Victor Trofimov from the 70's. Did the meeting attract a reasonable crowd?
  5. It does not want to know. Now dependent on Speedway Updates.
  6. Grrr...I lost BT Sport connection 20 minutes ago. What's happening.
  7. I will never accept a team finishing 4th. out of 8 being crowned champions as a result of winning a play-off as worthy winners.
  8. Emil and Grigorij on top form would be a massive boost to the GP series.
  9. Is he related to the old Hackney rider Laurie Etheridge?
  10. If you fly Ryanair to the Nordic GP they will probably take you to Gorzow. I flew Ryanair to Brussels and ended up in Charleroi, at a tiny airport used exclusively by Ryanair. This was 2003...may be different now.
  11. soft port?...is that like lbv port?. I would not agree the series is meaningless but without Tai it is devalued.
  12. I am probably Greg's biggest fan on this forum but I am most disappointed. Giving a youngster the experience of finishing half a lap behind established stars is disheartening rather than encouraging. For many, the highlight of tonight's meeting would have been Greg's race with Emil, now denied. The paying public have been short-changed and the competition devalued. I still think Greg is a speedway legend, but he has shot himself in the foot here...unless of course he was dropped by his Team Manager. If a Team decision it's a poor one. If it's Greg's decision, the Team Manager should have vetoed it.
  13. Let's have a cheer for all us rose- coloured spectacled old duffers. Long may we live to continue loving our speedway.
  14. I spoke to a chap on Tuesday who breeds Greyhounds for racing and currently has 16 racing dogs kenneled. He told me Plough Lane is definitely coming down, though I can't verify that information.
