Some of the posts on this thread have gone off topic but never the less raise interesting points...e,g. Does history only remember the winners and does exciting mean good?. One of the most exciting riders I ever saw, and loved to see race was Kenny Carter. Another was Mike Broadbank. Were they good enough to win a World title?. In Mike's case, almost. In Kenny's case, sadly we never got to find out. Is Ward exciting...Yes. Is he good enough to win a World title...Yes. Will he...Possibly, but if Tai stays at the top of his game and Emil comes back in to the fold, maybe not.

There are those who say tracks like Plymouth and the old New Cross and Wimbledon are ideal. Others, myself included prefer tracks like the old West Ham. Problem is, if the racing is poor with riders strung out you want the race to end quickly, so small is good. But if the racing is close and exciting you don't want the race to finish, so big is better. I would say track length of 350 yards with wide bends and slight banking is ideal. -
Kent Vs Eastbourne Monday 17th August 6:30pm

Obviously I have not been myself but it looks a great venue and a nice track. Kent was once a good speedway county with the Crusaders and Highwaymen. It would be a shame if the current venture failed through lack of management planning. -

There are sensible rules and stupid rules, and rules you can exploit. If the rules say Eastbourne can bring him in on a 3 they are not going to say no. He won't be on a 3 for long. -

Remember the old Abbey National adverts...Get the Abbey habit? Well, I've got the Norbold habit. having recently purchased "Pie" and Speedway in East Anglia I bought "Tom Farndon" yesterday, and Speedway in London today. That should get me on to Norbold's Christmas card list .

Having been outbid on ebay in an attempt to purchase the above, does anyone have one to sell at a sensible price?. Alternatively I can swap for an Eindhoven World Ice Speedway Final programme from 1983 or an Assen World Ice Speedway Semi-Final programme from 1984. I am also after the Munich and Amsterdam World Speedway Final programmes at a sensible price, or can swap for the Innsbruck Ice Speedway Final programme from 2009. -

Would not Emil's sponsors cough up more for the added exposure the GP's would bring?.
