  1. Most fans don't have a clue what goes on behind the scenes and there has been a lot more corruption in Boxing, Horse Racing and Athletics and I don't see noone walking away from those sports especially Boxing, so I totally disagree. Also where is the corruption because I would be suprised if it was at N.L where the money is low and fans do walk away from that from time to time. Why people walk has been done to death on this forum and I think most people know why but I haven't got the inclination or the time to write out a lengthy Dickens type essay about speedway's problems.
  2. I think the reasons I wouldn't walk away from speedway are: 1) Britain has a World Champion and a genuinely world classed rider. 2) Although the rules are odd and full of loopholes, it gets more and more interesting every year there is an AGM announcement. 3) Exciting young British riders coming through like Lambert, Ellis and Bates. 4) A future signal that the GP riders are going to comeback into speedway even of it is half a season or a playoffs with which the finances of most I would accept. 5) Last year was a very close E.L finale won by a few points and this year could be even closer with 3 evenly matched sides who could easily win it. 6) A new national stadium has just been built. Hopefully better times for it unlike the start of this season. 7) Some of the racing has been really exciting with tracks being well prepared and passing more than other seasons. 8) The Great Dane is back in speedway. 9) Some real characters are managing in the Elite League such as Gary Havelock and Alan Rossiter 10) The race for the World Title is starting to really heat up. Why would you want to walk away from speedway now?
  3. No but to keep up with all the up and coming riders every year who are new in, is quite the mind boggle. I mainly follow the top leagues and GP's but do try and keep up with young riders here and abroad but so many come and go or get injured and getting old so haven't got the memory I used to have. To remember the top riders is hard enough from abroad and past eras.
  4. Have to agree. He has had an excellent year from being an unknown to me. Hopefully will stay injury free and have a bright future.
  5. Oh my days. Did you just say my post about me saying his name was odd is bordering on racism because I didn't know what it meant. It could of been advertising a greek chocolate bar or a bridge website for all I know. I feel like reporting this post for stupidity or is this racism slur another cringeworthy joke that fits into this thread nicely. His name makes perfect sense yet there isn't one word in the english dictionary apart from aces and he. I suppose that is racist as well. Likewise with the churlish manner how you referred to my surname. Probably best to be grown up about this and leave it at that.
  6. Good thread My favourite was 'Little Bo Peep' for Bo Petersen. Never knew why Andy Smith was called Smudger. Hearing a race with Wiggy and Donkey riding for England sounded daft but amusing. Also loved 'Sprouts'.
  7. It's not humorous in my book, it's more cringeworthy and looks desperate for attention. Some posts have made me laugh, but this is not a worthy joke if it means to be. I do not mean to upset the original poster but it's just my opinion. I actually found the irony in regards to you mentioning my name incorrectly being different when your own username is unpronounceable being funnier than the thread. Perhaps
  8. This thread could not get anymore green eyed monster if it tried. Coventry have had plenty of chances to make changes all season and have decided the noble stance of loyalty over changes which has led them to their season. Peterborough have done the complete opposite and to be fair are not exactly pylling up trees in the Premier League.
  9. Well impressed by Dmitri Berge and his efforts. Could be the first ever French GP rider in the future. Lambert is still in the mix but I expect Fricke vs Kristian in the final round. Good to see the Polish riders struggling for a change.
  10. Whilst I agree with your ethics in regards to the rules being somewhat mystifying, you have to remember that Antonio didn't qualify for the GP series and was put in as a wildcard. You could argue that it was an SEC rider for an SEC rider and there is only a 6 point gap between them in the standings, so I don't agree with the GP rider theory.
  11. A good servant for the Bees. If he wants gating practice, Leicester could be a good shout but I think he will go to Swindon as second heat leader. I just really hope he gets a ride.
  12. He may still get this average this season. Nothing is easy even in this league. I would have said 7.50 would have been fair especially bringing in a British World Champion on a 7 average. To me, that makes more of a mockery of the sport than Antonio's signing, both legal or not. Think there isn't too much to complain about and glad to see another quality rider back in this country.
  13. Interesting signing and surely makes Poole favourites now which is a shame. Not sure why there is complaining as 1) Is this not the same as Tai signing for Wolves 2) Any other team could sign him on a 7 from the start of the season or for an injured rider. Or could have signed a top Polish rider. Didnt I read somewhere that he still holds the track record at Poole.
  14. Andy Gray wins hands down. Then showed his true colours and got fired. Clare Balding isn't too far behind in my estimates. I don't know if it's her accent but how she got to where she is, I haven't the foggiest.
  15. Well from what I have read you have definitely insulted me and posts to robert72, Pinny, orion and perhaps a few others.
  16. Perhaps noone has debated with you because it is the same old predictable negative post regarding Poole riders and to be honest, if they rode bad, they rode bad. Hardly worthy of a classroom debate let alone a forum debate. What do you say? "Yes they rode bad". If you were perhaps a little more positive in your postings and eradicated the insults maybe you points regarding Poole would get more respect. If you have a problem with two fans just ignore them like I had to with you when we you had to take our debate to insults. You have insulted many people on this forum that I have seen and I haven't been on here that long. God knows how long you have been doing this for. You have no issue with me, but insulting a new poster with an opinion in the British Final thread is hardly a reason to like you. I had to report you and ignore you for a while. It was my opinion and I got called names and then several other people seemed to think it was funny to take the Michael about me reporting bullying to the moderators. Hardly a respectable forum and it was instigated by yourself. I don't agree with all Steve Shovlar's opinions but he does make some honest points and only seems to offend if someone offends him first. Perhaps he is worth meeting in person. That is his opinion. Right or wrong, you cannot prove because noone can because Fricke didn't show. There is no fact if an event did not occur. You are purely guessing yourself.
  17. Very true. I don't understand why he has to attack at least one poster in every post he does. I have had his brunt before and Steve Shovlar seems to be getting a lot of it for some of his honest opinions. You cannot call people names just because you do not agree. That is just very childish in my view and if I had been a moderator, he probably would have probably been thrown off the forum by now. Perhaps he needs a hobby with exercise as their seems quite the build up of anger in there.
  18. I think maybe Lambert and Huckenbeck will be stay but 5 other new riders will come in. Maybe one of the Lewis's stays. Interesting line up next year perhaps.
  19. Smolinski is definitely worth a punt here for a plus but I see him as a punt that could score anything from 2-10 points. Pedersen lower is a punt from me and certainly not feeling as confident as backing Doyle plus last time out.
  20. Depends on how the averages are obviously but I think the teams that interest me most in team building will be Kings Lynn and Leicester if both survive. Or if Somerset or Glasgow decide to pop up with maybe Peterborough but I don't expect a PL team to make the move.
  21. Thank you for the offer but I would rather keep my sanity for now and perhaps go back there when I lose it at 73 years of age.
  22. It is not like 5-10 pounds? It's still cheaper than an alcoholic beverage or a packet of cigarettes plus sometimes there is always a comment or something in there, I don't catch on the web.
  23. Can't disagree with that but your post is very detailed and well in the know about the King's Lynn management and their whereabouts, so I would presume you have something to do with the management to know both were away. You don't have to answer my question, but I have seen a few posts regarding the legality of the Kings Lynn team in relation to Kai Huckenbeck and the rules set by the BSPA which according to a poster was broken. Do you have any comment or stance on this report as I think personally think people have a right to know if rules are being broken or is the poster incorrect.
  24. Good performance by Leicester and just goes to show the league is not as far apart as people think when the leaders just get by the bottom placed team. I don't know their future but I hope they are back next season regardless of the league they are riding in.
