Poole Vs The Aces For The Title
Joe Beevers replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Problem is with you sir/madam/x is that I admit that I am jealous of the Poole Pirates success where your post screams out that you are in denial. And for the record, North,Kennett or your pet rottweiler riding. Poole beat Coventry regardless of the points or not. Now will you care to agree. Somehow I think you won't as you epitomize some of the delusional youth of today. -
Poole Vs The Aces For The Title
Joe Beevers replied to Crazy robin's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
First of all, I have reported you. I came on what I thought was a friendly forum and I get this insulting post after simply asking a question in regards to a ruling. There is something mentally wrong with the poster in my opinion. Second of all, before running your mouth, put your brain in first gear and get your facts right. I am not a Poole fan. My club is sadly deceased and I watch the odd match when I get the chance. Thirdly, it's a shame you were raised in a way where your etiquette and reading skills need some vital attention. I clearly state in my post that Newman had a problem and the referee should have excluded him but seemingly did not know the rule just like yourself at the time. Only a Sky statician happened to check the rule book I would guess as nobody seemed to care or know. Your points are totally irrelevant to any of the questions I asked and I doubt you are an ex speedway official. Finally, I already raised the issue of why points should be deducted afterwards. Again you failed to read the post or answer the question with any kind of speedway rules or knowledge. I suggest in future you read the posts properly instead of making unwelcoming and unintelligent comments. On a better note, I feel sad for the Aces because I felt both teams gave it everything and neither team deserved to lose. As I usually cheer the underdogs, I would have been pleased if the Aces had won, however as a man of principal, I also always feel that the team who top the league should win the league regardless. Well done to both teams over the legs for the entertainment served and well done to Poole for winning by the narrowest of margins. -

There a few things I am confused with here with the goggles talk Ok the referee has got this wrong and made an error which happens in speedway and Poole are lucky to get away with Newman not being excluded. Now I would presume the referee did not know the rule and seemingly noone else in the stadium including the rider. But surely on principal of error, points should not be deducted. Is it not the same as the referee making an incorrect tapes exclusion or if the wrong rider is penalised for dangerous riding without the referee looking at the television which referees did not use for years. The referee after making decision on the track whether it is right or wrong never changes his mind unless of course he is Hungarian and has Ole Olsen as the race director. Are not points only deducted for off track issues such as silencer or illegal rider discrepancies. I still feel that riders moving at the start and get jump starts with referee not noticing don't get the points deducted after the race was won. I hope there is somebody like a referee on this thread who can clarify these rulings. -

Not when I went. The odd riders and dirty riding perhaps but not the whole meeting and besides noone has spoken about the fantastic atmosphere. Not exactly Wembley if you ask me. And how would you know what the rivalry was like back then. I bet I was watching speedway before you grandfather and grandmother replaced the Bible with the Kama Sutra in their bedside table. -

Wow excuse me, the amount of defense used in you're post suggests that you maybe the next Bobby Moore. This is why I stay on the Years Gone By thread which seems to be child free unlike this thread which as we can see from this post. Unless a rider has been dangerous, I didn't think riders get booed all night constantly which either shows the people who agree to do it are either children or thugs. I have yet to decide which of those you are but I could probably hazard a guess that your Super Mario isn't keeping you occupied enough. I agree but I do not agree they deserve booing through a meeting from start to finish. Even the most memorable rivalries of Cradley Heath and Wolves were never as bad as that and Poole and Belle Vue are not even rivals. Sorry but do not agree with it. -

Two things disappoint me tonight. One is the amount of rubbish on this thread. Is this the most witless unfactaul banter or just some kind of poor attempt at trolling. Secondly, I am disappointed with the Belle Vue fans in the stadium to keep booing the Poole riders all night at every opportunity. They risk there lives to give people an exciting form of entertainment and all people can do is act moronic. A lot of people have some serious growing up to do. -
Nikki Pedersen Red Carded In Polish Match
Joe Beevers replied to barrow boy's topic in International World of Speedway
Doyle has never been dirty. He always used to be too nice. He is hard but fair like Jason Crump was in my opinion. Who was the referee in the match? Was it Greg Hancock in a disguise by any chance -
So there has been a lot of interviews and commentary over the years from programmes such as World Of Sport all the way up to when Sky took over the GP's. What commentary, interviews or studio comment were odd, hilarious or most controversial? Mine would be Dave Lanning commentating on an England v USA test match in the 80s. The Americans I think are on a 5-1 and all of a sudden one of them picks up too much grip on the bend which lifts his front tyre taking him to the fence but manages to stay on. Lanning then says "The Americans must watch themselves as they have already been warned abour monowheeling by the referee". I was dumbstruck.

And to be honest I totally agree but I am trying to think how selectors would think but sometimes you never know. I would pick the best riders even if it was 8 Danes and 7 Poles although it would be quite sad although this is how the future of speedway is shaping. On reflection, I would put the 9th place rider in regardless of nationality and that would be Jensen. Noodles, you must be quite bored to highlight my whole post in regards to Vaculik's nationality. Ok he was former Czech and now Slovak. :/

IMO There is no way Greg Hancock will retire. I watched him talking in the GP the other day and can just tell he is still as enthusiastic as ever to keep going and he is still super fit and still wants to win every race. I would be shocked if he steps down and there is no way he should give up his spot and younger riders should earn it! So IMO: Woffinden Hancock Pedersen Zagar Iversen Holder Doyle Janowski will prob be top 8 Zmarzlik Pawlicki Harris Wild Card Leaves 4. Kildemand has been brilliant and deserves a spot. Hampel injured and is too good to leave out. Next spot should be filled by a Swedish rider as there isnt one. I would pick Lindback over Jonsson on form this year but it's close. Final spot is interesting. M.J.J is next highest scorer but so many Danes doesn't help is cause. Batchelor is worse than last year and imo didn't deserve the wildcard spot than. With Jonasson and KK out and Sayfutdinov not interested, it may come down to 3 riders. Premyslaw Pawlicki - 4th in Gp Challenge but are there too many Poles? Martin Vaculik - Decent shout and would represent the Czechs but IMO he isn't any better than Batchelor. Gregory Laguta - Probably edges it for me. No Russians and is an exciting rider plus has never experienced GPs and would win my vote.

Who Would Have Won The World Final Of The 1 Hit Wonders.

Thanks lucifer sam or is it rob you prefer? Confused with the multiple name thing. Yes, should have mentioned Per along with Jan O as another rider who could have won more. -

That's a fair point Sidney. I think a lot of people have to make the obvious perception of rating a great rider in the prime of when they watched speedway because their speed and skill level really opened their eyes up to the sport and make them take an interest. That is the power of great speedway. Obviously Sam was starting out than and I have seen moments when I thought PC was hairy and it was a great moment when he took the crown in an era which Mauger and Olsen were the main protagonists. But like Michael Lee, I felt both needed the right track in a World Final to maintain the consistency of being a serious contender year in and year out. It is really hard to judge all these riders as most of them in their prime deserved a title and we always wonder about the difference between a GP season and a World Final. Just worth giving Jan O a mention as he may have won another one perhaps if he hadn't been seriously injured. -
Thats a fair point. I think the attention and the money has drifted off to eastern europe and our country hasn't been the focal point of this sport for a while and probably why there is a far greater depth of young talent elsewhere (although no idea how the aussies keep doing it). Events take money and fan popularity. I think its embarrassing we don't even have representatives in the SEC or the Pairs. Although I really enjoy the events of yesteryear as there was something really pure and enjoyable about them, unless speedway gets that huge popularity it once had and maybe top sports seiously overprice themselves out of a weekly market, I can't see it happening. But watch the last GP, it was one of the far better one's.

customhouseregular did you watch the ladt GP in Poland....best GP I have probably ever seen. Had everything....and more. Made a Continental Final from 1976 look like a stroll in the park by the ducks. Good speedway is good speedway. The year is irrelevant even if the style, colour and technology was different. And I have watched nearly every world final from 1963-94.

Was there quarter finals back then all was it seeded. Missing Steve Schofield but he may have been injured?

Who Would Have Won The World Final Of The 1 Hit Wonders.
Joe Beevers replied to Joe Beevers's topic in Years Gone By
Someone stick up for Sam...too much biaism for speedway up to 1980! Seriously though I am surprised that noone has named anyone after this period. Ermolenko has a record of 1st and 3 3rds and would have won two more titles had it not been for the two great danes. Nearly 20 years at the top and amazing league racing standard and great passer which is why he got my win. Hamill deserves a mention for a good ten years and 1st, 2nd and 2nd to try and even the balance. -

So continuing the theme of the nearly men which was popular, the same rules apply to who would be the World Champion out of all the riders who won the world title once. Again taking my opinion of what I saw, stats and longevity at the top, this would be my result. Please note I have not included Tomasz Gollob or Chris Holder as technically they are still riding and could win another title. 1) Jack Milne 2) Mark Loram 3) Peter Collins 4) Egon Muller 5) Tommy Price 6) Jan O Pedersen 7) Sam Ermolenko 8) Jerszy Scaziekiel 9) Bjorn Knutsson 10) Lionel Van Praag 11) Bluey Wilkinson 12) Michael Lee 13) Per Jonsson 14) Anders Michanek 15) Billy Hamill 16) Gary Havelock 1st=) Sam Ermolenko 14 (after run off) 1st=) Bjorn Knutsson 14 3rd=) Jack Milne 12 (after run off) 3rd=) Billy Hamill 12 Top Brit - Michael Lee. -

Guess I am being shocked....strange because he has been beating this field with ease in the SEC amd SWC for that matter. Kildemand also struggling...more extra Polish practice perhaps but who on earth is Karpov? Go Bomber Go! -

Couldn't give a 4x about the way this topic is turning out. Swearing, fixing rides, knocking off riders on purpose etc. I will go and get my pipe and slippers as this is getting juicier than a Del Monte conspiracy. -

Tai's first ride in this meeting was ridiculous good it was unreal especially early on in the meeting where the grip is usually scarce. That ride alone deserves a world title and IMO only a few riders ever could have done that and won that heat like he did. Trust me watch that heat again. -

Swapped his engines in his bikes last year for sodastream machine engines. No confidence either.
