  3. Hi.. can i lead you all to our new facebook page......friends of scunthorpe speedway?,its just started up and would like as many people to like it as possible, feel free to post comments and suggestions, the outsider? could you post your theme tune selections on please? i think they would be a good idea, maybe then people could suggest their own, seeing ellis perks youtube promotion and "give me some loving" maybe he could use that and nike lunna use "new sensation"? in relation to the meeting... no not many turned up im sorry to say, but hey, if they dont come that cant complain about new ideas eh?. the promotion get to read everything as minutes are taken and emailed to paul cook, to be honest our group is based around marketing the club , getting the word around,we arent involved in every part of the running, so we have flyers printed to display in various workplaces or shop windows a vehicle with a scunny speedway sign will drive around town to hopefull catch peoples eye proper rider intros so fans can see who exactly rob is calling out(hopefull to a theme tune in my opinion), they may come out on a truck, do a lap then walk into the crowd and back to the pits. our old announcer from the early tracks will be the roving mic, getting feedback from fans or promote ideas or inititives, two way interaction so to speak as i mentioned, the facebook page maybes are... kids and cone days... kids get a free icecream with an adult loyalty card idea scrapped and an "all inclusive enrty fee"introduced. say for 18 pound you get .entry. a programme and a meal and a drink. i believe dog tracks do this? a prominent scunny business man has said he would help us as we have done alot for the name of scunny, so we are going to ask for help in getting a display either in the town centre or just outside his shop, with bike and rider looking at doing photo opportunities with a rider each meeting, maybe this is aimed at the kids? or the ardent fan?, each week one rider will be available,
  4. you mean when was... 11th march as stated in previous posts
  5. i think we should all turn up bank holiday with blonde afros, make him feel welcome
  6. looks more harpo m\arx,, there was some good racing today from everybody, nike did really well seeing he hasnt had much track time., how many laps have dan and ollie had round here, i believe he will be similar to josh as his starting was hit and miss but had speed when behind, its gonna be awesome this year watching all of them winding up for outside passing on the last lap
  7. sorry if i got the wrong meaning bruv, i thought you meant a behind closed doors practice, also im not arguing if it was right or wrong for him to ride, thats his buisness, i just wanted to give an answer to a post, bit confused by being called a "supergrass" though, i never brought the subject up
  8. it wasnt a private practice, it was an open pracrtice run regularly by scunny speedway, anyone with a bike and some money can go, maybe our official club photographer should take his pictures of the day off his facebook page,
  9. Blabbing??? it was an open practice, nothing underhand about it, he paid money to practise and signed on on an scb form, so by last tuesday they would have know who was there, i was just saying i was there in answer to your question about evidence
  10. Hard evidence steve? about him riding round scunny?.... i was there on centre green with a red flag, sissis, bates , jorgensen and proctor there for open practise
  11. i think we will be ok as we dont start properly until april, and those are nearly all league cup matches
  12. Beacon pub in scunthorpe Montie 11th of Feb, all advertised on http://scunthorpescorpions.co/ and 8 turned up this time, about half less than the first one
  13. maybe a deciding factor if you decided to stay away? was still there today, think favours were done, "you do my car park and ill let you park here"
  14. not sure if a lot of people know but the car park has had a topcoat on, so no more gravel, the pits are also tarmaced
  15. without too much deatil, issues discussed were..nothing is concrete at this stage a parade at 7 ,15 getting meetings filmed again using social medai to spread the word of scunny roving mic announcer better signage outside the stadium or vehicle mounted boards a 100 club similar to sheffield a loyality card, reach half way free food, filled in free entry posters for display in shops, work schools etc flyers handed out at various locations if allowed Next meeting same place 11th march ps, no press and practice day
  16. So what i read is.. No aussies allowed in the PL only in the EL because the standard of Aussies coming in are rubbish and have no talent? unless that Aussie rides for your team, as stated above..."an australian was brought in on a dubious average last year, and the same appeared to nearly happen this year..",, why is that the riders fault? if the promotion is too blame and flauting the rules then shouldnt the club be held responsible and then told not to get a Visa rider next year?
  17. Does anyone think Mr Klindt will be riding for us for a while?
  18. next SCORPS meeting planned for tuesday is cancelled, Julies not been able to get the track bar open,
  19. thank you for the reply outsider, it seemed strange that only 2 riders had theme tunes, maybe rob couldnt think of any for the others? i know when the music was played or for 5.1 a few of us in the seats and in front near the tapes would join in, so it sems to be what some want. I would love to see Guy threre, i even posted on his facebbok page if he fancied it.He only lives in the Grimsby area(?), maybe he could do some laps in the interval? Hes just built 2 projects i believe, a Heskith bike and a Merlin Engine, maybe he could demonstrate those? Maybe do a collection for his chosen charity?
  20. Maybe the people on here who have argued about some of the ideas could give some of theirs, instead of knocking mine? im trying to keep the crowd entertained instead of turning up and watching then going home, with a feeling of wasting their monies. Maybe we should just give up this year and go to the pub instead, then all reminisce about how we miss speedway. All we are looking at is about 100 people to come back, not 5000, , we just have to find out why those 100 or so fans have stopped going? is it because they lost their job and cant afford it. have to chose between Football or Speedway?,was it the fact we seemed to race Sheffield 10 times?, is it the price?,The track is good, Rob is good and the racing is good so what are we doing wrong?
  21. The Outsider.. if you were in charge of the music at Scunny would you use the themes tunes as the riders did a parade lap or when they won? there was talk of riders on a back of a truck waving to the crowd so what about a team theme tune as they go around, bit like sheffield do with the Terminator theme tune? What about at the end of the meeting when the riders thank the crowd,Rob could say "play that music Barry, then he plays The Bee Gees.. You win again? think we need to entertain the crowds with more than just racing
  22. i promise all you berwick fans that thomas will be a popular lad with u all.. he is one of the nicest and down to earth guys you could wish to meet. please take time out to say hello to him, he may beat himself up a bit if he doesnt win but he will be wanting to win every race he is in.i believe that most of his big points will be away for you. i wish him all the best and you are getting a great lad from us
  23. i believed if we just asked to go in to promote the team then no, if you go in supporting a charity and have all collections or rafle prize money donated to the chosen charity, then yes What about on saturday in a supermarket with a foyer with press and practice on the sunday, all riders may be available on saturday so you could get the most striking looking rider and bike as the centre piece catching people eye as they go in, Use Ryan Ellis and Nikes image to promote to the Young ones. get them excited and parents maybe remenbering when they went to quibel or ashby ville, there are tond of people who went but never go here... just try it Scunny fans, ask someone in thier say 40s if they went and i bet you will find 2 or 3 who went or their partner went when they were kids, I was told the club shop wouldnt fancy giving out free stuff (bit tight lol) but how much would a lot of pens or keyrings cost, something people pick up and use everyday so you have advertising in all the homes, more likely to keep than a flyer (which you can also hand out) which would end up in the bottom of a carrier bag,The other riders could help out on the tills,Tickets could be handed out to raise interest and have a main raffle prize as say a season long free ticket for a family of 4? or the sponsors could offer a weeks holiday somewhere? Jake Quickenden would be amazing for us for advertising oppertunities, we are struggling now to get anyone to plug us, unless it silly money i mentioned earlier,We can have he perform in the interval or at the end maybe on Easter Bank Holiday so all his fans have paid to get in, It would go through the media like a dose of salts, Now it becomes a news story so they would be liining up to get the news.let them come to us then we can call the tune. Decide Lincs FM could run the day, they bring the stage and music system .have have roadshow. Because we did something for Lincs Fm we can bargain for next year about having a plug for Fridays if all goes well. Maybe have the day as a charity day for Jakes chosen one, then all the media will interview him and that will be all over the tv and when hes been there you see it on the tv maybe 2 days after. If it was a massive sucess just from the entry monies ( non speedway fans would just come to see him ) thne that should cover any bad hits duting the season. do people know how much that Sheffield meeting that got rained off with one race left cost us? have a quess please
  24. I suppose if it was a secret, the backroom boys at the meeting wouldnt have told us so....NIKE, apparantly we nicked him from under their noses, but he really wanted to come to us. as i said, every rider there wants to ride for us, it was really as simple as ringing a rider up and " saying " ryan, josh, carl, nike, ellis, david and alex do you want to ride for Scunny this year"? "for this much"?, literaly about one minute on the phone and the deal was done.no dramas
