BOOM! Got it in one. First you need to list the 10 things speedway does right and the 10 things it does wrong (it might end up being 5 or 15 if thats what you come up with but aim for 10) then fix the wrong things without breaking the good stuff. This guy appears to have just thrown a load of ideas into a hat to fix a problem that doesn't exist and in doing so has made things worse! 95% of what needs changing isn't the rules. It's the implementation of the rules and the whole running of a show on race night. Still mathematically wrong and certainly not "simpler" as claimed, it has an extra step in it, how does adding steps make it simpler?!
-
I'm loving the convoluted "simpler" average system So he proposes rounding averages to the nearest 0.5 of a point. I give you Rider A averages 4.25 and rider B averages 4.74, which one are you going to sign on a 4.5 average? The one nearly 0.5 higher. So you do that 7 times and you have gained 3.5 points. Thats 3.5 points more for you, and 3.5 less for the opposition (every point you score in speedway is one less for the opposition) meaning a 7 point difference before the meeting has ever started and allowing for form. And then the silly bugger suggests that the conversion between leagues should be 1.2 and 0.8. ARGH. Just make it 0.8 and multiple one way and dive the other. Jesus wept! The maths on that one is so wrong it's scary! To prove my points, take a number, add on 100% then remove 100% and how much do you have? It's NOT what you started with, it's nothing. averages/ratios/percentages are relative values. THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH AVERAGES! FFS.

No it's not. It's terrible news. This idea of teams for teams sake is a good idea is part of what kills speedway. Just short term thinking.

Boil my piss when I rush to a track for 7.30 for them to have the first race at 7.45 or 7.50. If you advertise 7.30 then start at 7.30! And then be finished in about 90 minutes. Not all of us living within 10 minutes of the track and having rushed out of work we want to get home at a reasonable time as we have work the next day too and we're already running low on energy having had to tolerate a crap burger from the van on the back straight!
-
Erm, it may have escaped your notice but we're de-camping to a speedway only stadium. Only Horton could move a club to a purpose built, speedway only venue and then claim that a purpose built, speedway only venue isn't viable.
-
It was changed because Jon Cook claimed when his team didnt win all the point at home fans felt like they had lost. Ironically the next season they lost quite a few at home anyway What next, give the home team 3 points just for turning up so you never leave having felt like you have lost? 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 was a good system, I'd like to see it go back.

I thought one of the issues at BV was that the club didn't get the catering money?
-
Out of curiosity, what average would people give Sundstrom? Hed be a 7 or 7.5 IMO so 7.22 seems fair.
-
TBF I dont blame him. The NL is a joke with its rule that any rider can miss any meeting for any reason (remember BVs top 2 deciding not to bother with a trip to IoW?) Anyone with half a brain would keep their average down thus increasing their value for next season and their likelihood of getting a team place. Good for him, using the rules to his advantage. Bad on him for not being honest with Cradley who would likely be one of the clubs that would have paid him big money in 2018 due to his low average.

Who Finishes Where 2018

Honestly hope Im wrong and will be shouting by at my tv every Saturday in support of him and will probably even get myself a Craig Cook t-shirt for Cardiff and any other GPs I attend. If its any consolation to Craig I said Woffy would finish bottom 3 when he got back in! -
Coventry is still better than 95% of tracks now and thats after its been stripped and vandalised! Mind you, that only proves your point.
-
It really comes down to the referee. Some are sticklers and will fine riders for the wrong helmet colours being worn, others don't mind as long as it's "obvious". There was a mini-clamp down when they brought the yellow/black back from just yellow but I've noticed its gone again. Helmet colours themselves, Ive never known it be an issue, in fact in the past riders have had 4 helmets, red, blue, white and yellow/black and changed it for each heat but have been known to wear a helmet colour, presumably because a helmet got damaged.
-
Thats a bigger fiddle your way. Rider comes out for his 4th ride, touches the tapes and is replaced but for average purposes he now score 0 from 1 lowering his average. It's one of the things the BSPA/SCB have right.
-
I don't like Kildemand much but he'd be one of the riders I'd be pestering to sign for me in 2018 - he has a very attractive average. Suggestions of Holder or Hans, ouch! Would have to be Holder given a choice but think of the moaning.
-
Yeah, because thats the biggest issue in the running on a meeting. The 2 minutes it takes to get them back around to the star again. Not the 25 minute interval after 12 heats of a 15 heat meeting?!

Who Finishes Where 2018

Dudeks the difficult one for me, is it a one off year? Is he on the way up? Is that his level? Honestly don't have a clue. After that I think you're slightloy over rating Emil, drop him down a place or two, same with Magic who I can't see repeating his season - he just happened to have a good spell and two GP took place at the time. Also think you're over rating Pedersen a bit these days, he's barely ridden for 2 season now too. Laguta could be decent but I think he'll have too many poor scores and in reality could be battling with Cook for the wooden spoon. -
Sorry to hear this. Certainly one of the good guys
-
Yeah, Chris Holder. He got a ban too! And it does count as a ride if the rider is not replaced.
-
Thanks. Totally illogical but this is the BSPA (or the SCB actually)
-
If a rider cuts across the centre green and is excluded, do we know if this is considered a ride for the purpose of averages? I see in August 8th at Lynn the referee marked down MPT as a tapes exclusion but surely thats not right is it?
-
Also had a poor year in 2017, if he just gets back to 2016 level Redcar are laughing and if he improves on that then you possibly have one of the best riders in the league.
-
On his average Bridger has to be a certainty at Lakeside surely? He can beat the top guys around there, and the top Championship guys with his eyes closed. OK his away form may be erratic but he'll make sure you win home meetings.
-
Only if your box is connected to the internet. But obviously Sky will know that is only 80% of boxes are connected to the internet that they can add 20% to any viewing figures to get a more realistic figure.
-
Brilliant, so you would run a competition to attract new fans by preaching to the converted? I actually don't mind that we as speedway fans knew very little about it TBH as long as they've been trying to "sell" to new fans. One of the people on that list isn't a new fan so it's certainly been accessible to current speedway fans at some point but for me, the whole point of this is surely to find 5 new fans and get email/postal addresses of 1000s more potential fans. Now just let 5 people who already attend get in for free.

With no club of my own these days the only pleasure I get is from Poole failing, messing up or being made to look mugs (and it doesn't happen often).
