People have huge expectation of Harris based of the back of Cardiff '07. If people had realistic expectations they wouldn't get half as worked up. He's a 7.5 EL rider who will score 3-5 points in a GP. Some days he'll be brilliant and ride some brilliant races and other days he can frustrate the hell out of you. It what he is, what he was and what he'll likely only ever be. There are thousands of riders who'd kill to be that "bad". Something that didn't work in Bomber favour was the silencer change over. That season a lot of riders either suddenly got better, or worse. Since then Chris has slowly worked his way back up to where he was pre-silencer change. No, he's not likely to ever win another GP. Or finish top 8 of a GP season but the PL (and even the EL) is full of rider who'll never even make it to a GP but people seem to accept that. Maybe because he's the only one whos shown any interest in using one so far? And if he did get a good result it would stand out more than it would for a rider expected to do well anyway.

Half the PL and probably half the EL too. And lets not forget that in the last 12 months we've seen Birmingham and Eastbourne go from EL to NL. -
Surely it's easier for people with guns to riot? Would have been far more chaotic during "our" riots if people had guns freely available.

Did you see Garrity? He didnt turn left

It is for a rider of Hans' standard - he's an 8+ rider Why would you pay them £40 a point? I just said, I'd go back to the old format. You said yourself recently that a few of the draft riders are beating heat leaders now so they don't need protecting any more. They've all have 2 years of being protected, now they have to be let free to do it properly but still with the protection of knowing they can't be dropped (unless it's for another draft rider)

It's weird on here about that stadium. A few people were cynical. a few of us have criticized the bigging up that some of the stages got (and then been amazed at the lack of fanfare for the actually rubber stamping of the planning committee and the actually building work). But when people ask questions or show a bit of cynicism some (not all btw) BV fans get really uptight about it and treat it as if you have just urinated through their letter box! I'll try and answer your question for you as best as I can. The stadium is the home of BV speedway. It's being funded by a free loan from Manchester council to BV speedway to be paid over something like 60 years. The BSPA/SCB/ACU have nothing to do with it. It was announced that the stadium was going to host "World Championship events" in the begin and actually specifically claimed it was going to host the 2013 SWC final (some still won't accept that it didn't happen, cannot happen and that my cynicism around that claim proved correct!). They will apparently have a lot of training time available as the stadium won't be a tenant but the landlord to anyone else using the stadium. And planning conditions allow for quite a bit of training on certain days. You'd think that a "National Speedway Stadium" would host the GB final and a GP but don't even hint at that because some of the touhcy types will be on screaming at you that it's never been mentioned that a GP will be hosted, and they're right - it just seemed like a reasonable assumption and may still actually happen, why if Poland has 2 and 3 GPs every year, Sweden has 2, Denmark has had two that GB couldn't have two, an English and a Welsh GP should be do-able. I'll end by saying that ANY stadium that is purpose built for speedway with speedway as the landlord or main tenant can only be a good thing (although Leicester have tried it mess it up and Newport has gone). -

You're not allowed to ask questions about it, or even comment. It proves you're a jealous hater who wants it to fail. -

It's a sporting event. Not a night at the opera. People will celebrate. -

Well said. We need to move on from this, "it's Peterboroughts fault" or "it's a PL problem". It's a speedway problem and it's speedways fault. The BSPA as a collective need to start sorting this kind of crap out. -
I booed him all night, I always will, unless he wins the GP then I'll cheer for him. It's pantomime stuff, we love to hate him - some don't realise it yet but they will one day realise they need him to be there.

Anyone looking for "cheaper" accomodation, this site has a few decent priced apartments. Around the £200-250 price but will sleep 4 people in some case. http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk/cardiff/adate1.6033/adate2.6035/hom_sleeps_max.2/ -

I don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere. But is the plan for Melbourne to be the final GP for the next 5 seasons? Or could it be switched to March? -

SCB replied to Comet Dan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Good to see a duff foreignor being dropped for a Brit. Many of us are quick to put the boot in when the opposite happens so well done to Workington for making a positive change for British Speedway. Though he should not have had a job over here for years he's so naff but we'll ignore that as he's hopefully now gone. -

Redcar Vs Scunthorpe - July 2nd
SCB replied to lucifer sam's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I'm sure he's pulled out of 4 or 5 meeting now. I may be wrong, I've not check any figures and it's based on memory only. edit > just checked. Looks like I've been a little harsh. This is his 3rd with drawral but one of them an opposing rider was excluded for taking him out. -
If Tai can have two World Titles by ages 25, having won 2 of the 4 World Championship seasons he's raced in, he surely has to be our greatest ever. and frankly, it wouldn't be at all unfair to suggest that he could be heading for an all time greatest rider in the next 10 years. If he can do an Hancock and go on until 45.....

I can't wait to hear the PL fans spin this one. If an EL meeting had line ups like this the PL fans would be sticking the boot in. I'll just say once again, British Speedway has problems, the EL and the PL have pretty much the same problems. Yet some PL (and EL tbf) seem to want to pretend they don't exist. -

Alex Davies must have withdrawn from more meetings this season than any other rider by quite a long way. Is he that wild and out of control? -
you mean Hans Andersen whos been crap all year. And Chris Harris who form has been pretty steady all season but the quirk of rolling averages from last season has caused his to drop a little this month but still see it go back up again next month without him having to do too much. Chris Harris last 6 meetings have seen him average 7.26. If you assume he'd have got 2 points in the heat at home to Poole his last 6 meetings gives him a 7.55 average - about right for a guy who started on 7.49. Now with bonus points, he's averaging 8.59 - hardly the form of a man dropping his average as there only 4 EL riders with a higher, with bonus points "form" average! As Grachan will tell you, if I have reason to believe Coventry are fiddling I'll speak out against it. In fact, ask Neil Watson and Laurence Rogers what they think of me? I'm not some blow smoke up the clubs backside because it's the one I support - when Coventry Speedway is wrong I'll say so.
-
Agreed. There really should be a plan well ahead for this one. Not rushed in at the AGM. In fact all rules. Lets us, the fans know some of the rules and we can see some of the flaws before they happen so things can be tweaked before they happen.

4 riders. 4 laps. It's as brilliant now as it's ever been and it's ever going to be. Multiply that by 15, 20 or 23 times its still a bloody great night out. Where it goes wrong is the laise fair attitude of the promoters towards fans. "you've booked time of work to attend next weeks meeting? Tough, we're re-arranging it for the following week". "Rushed to the meeting after work getting here on time after a 2 hour drive? Well some people have got here late so we're delaying the start despite the fact you have a 2 hour drive home after the meeting". "Still wanting to get home at a reasonable time? Not happening today. I know we had a sun break for 45 minutes but we're going to have an interval now too". Then there is the attitude to the rulebook. At best it's a guide. Some people will tell you rules are crap, the rulebook is too confusing. No, the reason it's confusing is because the people who write it often ignore it or twist it. So in short, watch the sport for what it is, 4 riders racing 4 laps and it's still amazing. Try and get into the sport and understand the rules or think of it as a serious sport and you'll go bloody mad.

I'd prefer we just went back to the old race format. Still two EDR riders but they'd all start moving into the 1-5 then. The following season we make it 3 EDR riders per team and if Garrity, Newman and Kerr in that time make to heat leader then brilliant, but they're still EDR riders. Should revert to averages too. But ANY Brit without an EL average, moves up on a 3 after the start of next season where they would have to move up on an converted average.
