Just got the club's newsletter. Bit of a makeshift team for Bandits, I'm afraid. -

When was that? Bandits have never won at Ipswich as far as I can recall -

Berwick lost 46-44 in May. Is that what you're thinking of? The point gained tonight at Somerset must aid the Witches' hopes, surely? -

Deep ruts? In your dreams, mate. Track was fine, better than fine in fact, best I've seen it for months, probably due to the gap in meetings allowing extra preparation work to be carried out. Your Tiger-specs clearly restrict your vision. -
Usually third week in September. Probably 19 or 20th. Although with a smaller league programme this season, clubs might be told to get it all done the previous weekend.

Criticism of Doolan is unfair, Dantodan. The crash at Berwick when Garrity came off in front of him was a horror, one of the worst I've seen for a while. Although Doolan clearly soldiered marvellously on with a big overdose of adrenalyn coursing through his body, he took a really hard knock. I thought he looked very sore last night and obviously only took his four programmed races. After the meeting I was told he hurt his back in the Saturday crash and rode last night against doctor's orders.

C'mon people, let's be positive here. The club is encouraging people to support speedway at Berwick. I got my newsletter yesterday, and read this: While awaiting the call, or calls, which might help assure the future of the sport in the borders, there is something everyone can do on Saturday night to reassure potential investors of time and money of our club's viability -- simply turn up! A bigger, happier crowd will reassure the bosses that their efforts to ensure continuation of speedway in Berwick should be redoubled. More people on the terracing and in the stand on Saturday will give the Dixon Building Bandits' riders an incentive to get the team back to winning ways. An increased attendance should also convince a potential buyer, or parties considering investment by joining the board to ease their load, that Saturday night racing is still very much a worthwhile proposition. If that newsletter is read by the 500 or so subscribers, and we all feel good about attending speedway on a warm sunny night, it could brighten everything up considerably. Too much negativity around here. C'mon the mightys! -
From the latest newsletter it is emphasised that money isn't everything, the directors are looking for physical help in running the club. They want new investors to come in, and take a load off the current board. They have issued a number to call. Starting a thread and talking about signing riders as if nothing has changed isn't the most-sensible of posts.

I agree with the posters who have tried to drag this discussion back to the statement. The promotion haven't come out with a begging bowl, they want help, they want support. They have asked for new blood, new ideas joining their board, or an outright buyer with, presumably the same new ideas. Two scenarios which would allow speedway to continue in Berwick. They haven't asked for small ideas to cut costs. No mention of going NL, which would meet resistance by current NL for sure, and not much reduction in running costs anyway. They have reluctantly said that, much as they would want speedway to continue, if there are no new investors offering to join in and take some of their load, or buying the Bandits outright, they will close. C'mon, folks -- let's try to make something happen!

Hynek's a nice wee guy, but gets injured easily. His home scores for Bandits this year were 4, 3 & 4. Away he rode in two meetings, got 0 and 1 (which was a three-man finish). He's steady as they come, but keeps getting hurt by other people.
-
Well, that was awful. We almost left before the end, and I've never done that, even in the worst of Peter Waite's times. Thomas and Kus were the cause of the loss, as much as Edeberg and Liam. Brave and honest of the promotion to put out the newsletter. Some people on here need to take a long hard look at themselves.

There have been claims that it is "always 28 days" and thus Glasgow are being picked on in this case. In fact, the rule-book says a facility may be utilised to cover the absence of a missing rider "who is in dispute with his club, provided the circumstances have been accepted by the MC, who will determine the facility and the period of the rider's inactivity" No mention of 7, 14, 28 days or whatever.

Good God! The club answer strident demands for a new signing and pull a rabbit out of the hat, much as they did last month with Garcia. This person, who finds it more important to girn about a misprint than even mention the signing is clearly one of what Dick Barrie called "a cabal of small-minded detractors" in a recent programme. Forget him, forget the misprint. Remember the signing!

Bloody hell, didn't see that coming! Well done the promotion, and an asset-in-the-making, too.

Nice words in the newsletter I got last night, praising the hard work of George Hepburn.
