Last night he was on 10 points from 4 rides having won off gates 4, 1, and 2. In his 5th ride he was off gate 2 again. Fricke and Jack Holder had also won from gate 2 during the meeting. So last night, at least, it wasn't a case of catching up, he was sitting in joint 2nd place with one race to go - heat 19. Heat 19 contained four of the best riders on the night and he couldn't do it.

Jan Kvech rode at Glasgow in 2018 in the World U21 Team Championship qualifier and looked impressive scoring 15 points for the Czech Republic from 6 rides including a 6 pointer double in one race. From the UK side that won the meeting, only Connor Mountain is still riding in the UK.

To be fair, when you look at the original GB team, you could say Lambert is replacing Bewley; Connor is replacing Palin and Richie Worrall replacing Howarth; so not much difference from the original team. Obviously we all wanted to see Dan AND Lambert riding but hey ho, you can't fault Dan in this.

I must say I thought tonight's racing was superb with passing in virtually every heat.

Last night was just superb. After Cookies crash I thought here we go, the Lions are going to fluke this. But the fight and determination from the remaining 6 riders was just brilliant to watch. Just a pity Benjamin wasn't 100% fit . Hope Cookie is OK and takes his time to recover properly and comes back stronger than ever.

Can't help thinking all the above posts are in bad taste. Newcastle fans have lost their club!
