Clearly there are exceptions but was more alluding to the use of BWD or similar when unemployed riders could do

Rye House V Leicester Lions 11/04/2018
GWC replied to JamesM09's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Rye website says it’s ‘cash only’ tonight as IT not working! -
If there are riders out of work and UK based then the CL should be enforcing clubs to use them and not let them resort to guests on a ‘horses for courses’ basis.
-
Ellis Perks - it’s a crime the lad doesn’t have a team.
-
Simply each side is limited to bowling 20 overs and who scores most wins. Its normally done in a few hours unlike other Cricket that can be 50 overs per side or the real stuff of 3 or 4 days!!
-
We live in a totally different world now with 24 hour TV and sports. Speedway like Cricket (although 20-20 has been its salvation) lost its family image and patience seems to have gone as people want continuous excitement. Speedway racing is as exciting if not more so than ever and the riders exceptionall skilful but for now we live with what we have, there are still nearly 30 clubs going so nothing as bad as 1958 when there were only 10 full time clubs.

And there you are the predictable reply! ..’Nothing wrong with that’.... Ask Rye House how their negotiations went to use KK this season.

I thought ‘assets’ were a thing of the past.
-
What really riles me about the current state of speedway is a team that has assets pleantiful probably to the detriment of other clubs and doesn’t want to use them. Smacks of plain profiteering in a troubled (speedway) world. And before the culprits on here come back with ‘ oh its Fords clever methods’ it doesn’t wash with a lot of people and hence the posts you receive.

So with all their assets they use another club’s rider. #whats the point of having assets
-
Is Kildeman a Poole asset?
-
The team that starts the season doesn't normally finish it these days.
-
Having been a Rye supporter for many years Len Silver took the angle that the speedway must survive over rider signings. If the promotion don’t have deep pockets then it’s this route or no speedway.
-
Agreed he is very talented and approachable which should help him at Glasgow but it’s a daunting move for the lad and one he must have good support from the management.

Move race night?

The printers of programmes will be relieved

40 years too late I’m afraid!

Any announcement expected for the press and practice day?

This just shows how low the sport of Speedway is in the UK -‘average too high and a one track pony’ sum up a ghastly image. What rider is going to give ANY club their all if they get jettisoned after half a season performance. Joe is/was a young rider still finding his way in a tough sport. If we don’t give encouragement to our home grown riders then the sport will be finished far sooner than the doom mongers suggest!
-
Hmm, I wonder if Joe Jacobs had been given another chance in the BV team rather than released because his average was a point too high might he be still riding. Bewley and then Bickley may be BV future but if their average doesn't fit , asset or not they will be jettisoned, something Collins and Morton didn’t have to worry about.
-
The assets debate remains a moot point in speedway but in the case of BV if they have invested (money) in their development then so be it. Its signing riders from overseas and then declaring them an asset that’s controversial.
-
IN Nicholls case it was more the BSPA wouldn’t let him drop down into a Lowe league not specifically for a club he didn’t want to join. The asset system favours wealthier clubs and quite frankly isnt going to stop a rider going where he wants to go. We are now entering an austerity period for speedway so it’s best assets were got rid of.

Race jackets instead of team Kevlars personally I think the thing that set speedway apart from other motor sports was the race jacket.

He is Swindon’s no. 1 on a near 9 point average. They set a rule that you can only have one per team but ignore doubling up - nonsense.
