  1. Any of Wally Lloyd coming up..?
  2. Young Anders Rowe scored 4 points in the Mildenhall v Kent fixture i think it was his NL debut ?.Good luck to the young un in his speedway career i hope he is a future Budgie.😀
  3. I dont know if he was born with that spelling Knutson but Knutsson is the spelling i have in every programme magazine and most importantly on the WC roll of honour.😀😄
  4. Thanks for that i think one of the match races was in the Southampton V Swindon fixture i will have a look thanks again.
  5. I wondered if someone can help me with the race times of the British Match race title races between Ove Fundin and Bjorn Knutsson at Southampton and Norwich in 1961.I have the programmes just need the times, Knutsson did the impossible by beating Fundin in two 2.0 runs at Southampton and Norwich.
  6. Nick keeping his confidence high scoring a brilliant 16 points at Workington beating Cook once on merit.Dany scored 3 points with a fall in amongst that look forward to seeing him ride on Thursday.
  7. I can remember Mauger/Olsen,Michanek all getting boos but mostly that was because of the respect they had as great riders.Woffinden is no different no more unpopular than Lee Carter he has real support just a few on here who moan most of us see the bigger picture.!!!!
  8. As much as i loved Mike Lee i still think he was a better rider than PC but he did not prove it saying that both were great British riders to be proud of.🤓on the riding side anyway.☹️️ 79 Sam Ivan was very lucky Scott never opposed him,i think 72/79 were two titles Mauger was lucky to have won saying that 73 he was very unlucky. In 1980 i never felt PC would ever win it was Penhall/Jessup favourites? i can remember Lee getting up the inside and beating PC for second in a race when DJ had gone Collins after 77 was never for me going to win another WC.
  9. Collins after he got injured at Belle Vue and bravely failed to retain his title in 77 for me he was never as good again.A surprising stat is he was only British Champion once that really shows you how tough our league was in those days.I was never a PC fan but he was a great rider and i would say he is the best rider i have ever seen that could come from the back.
  10. Lee,Collins,Loram Havelock Price, have only won a title each only Freddie W who was welsh but british won two titles and the late great Peter Craven.
  11. Malc Holloway,Pete Glanz,Dave.Roberts,BrianButterfield,Terry Broadbank, Steve Goodwin all great lads downn to earth.
  12. 77 certainly Lee would not of won a series but he would of been thereabouts i did mean Lee could of won a one off final in 77/79/83.!!!.By then strange really to think Collins was finished by 1979 on the world final stage anyway.
  13. Very very surprised it was off, we had probably a fourty minute downpour and that was it then it started drying again.Looking at the track on Twitter it looked like you could of got it raceable gutted really i was looking forward to it.
  14. Keep him as a longterm project he needs time but he is doing well, nothing worse than letting him go and someone else reaping the rewards keep the faith.
  15. I would say that Scott/ Mike were the best two riders in the World in 79 and if looking back Lee could of won it in 77,79,83.
  16. Most people on here now realise that you dont stand for what most Poole fans think and feel.Poole i have never had a problem with them as a club in the modern era they are the benchmark to aim at and on this forum there are loads of really decent Poole fans who see the bigger picture.
  17. Good point but i would say Autrey was the stand out rider in 79 and would of had every chance certainly if the format was the same as when Loram won it.
  18. Makes you wonder if he see's the same meeting as others on here with his Blue tinted glasses on gives us all a chuckle though.😂
  19. Have not seen Bob for a few years but see alot of him in the 80s he used the Wheatsheaf Stratton alot.He kindly lent me some of his Speedway video collection which is still a prized asset of mine always said hello a friendly bloke RIP Bob.
  20. Vatcher for me is a very decent man, and i would imagine he would get instant respect and his nice manor would rub off on some of the young lads. Also have they now got a fitness regime set up which helps on the mental side and diet of the riders.?
  21. Speedi how many young riders like Bickley who have a big reputation but have failed over the years ? quite alot. The crop that are coming through now look the best we have had for a few years something must be working credit to Mr Vatcher on that.Jenkins,Hume,JBP, Bewley,Brennan, those five i am pretty confident will at the worst scenario make good Championship riders.
  22. Autrey also won the Berger Grand prix series in 1979 picking up the 1,250 first prize showing that if the WC had a been a series then he would of been a big player.
  23. Great post i know you liked Carter you see him at Hyde Rd his record in the BLRC is superb and other league visits. But you always maintained he had a great chance in 85!!!! i do to i dont think he was quite as good at Odsal than at the Shay but he could of won it in 85 no doubts about that.
