I agree with you TDM view is totally understandable and yes we could all be wrong but at least you two put it in a nice way fair play for that.

Are Darcy /Tai tarred with the same brush ? you saw the best in Darcy so why not Tai ?.In a way you are a hypocrite,i stuck up for Ward long before his accident (as endless others did on this forum) because i saw the best in him yet you just kill off Woffinden you dont even know the bloke. I will stick my neck out we are not producing loads of young riders as you say that we can GUARANTEE to even reach championship level so yes Tai's input would be a help.

Spot on as usual Norbold hard to pick a order though dont you think ? Young won in 51/52, but from 53/59 the other four won 6 titles and 8 rostrum places as you said Young would be high up on anyone's list.😀
-
I know Craven had a great head to head record against Ove but Ove,Craven,Mirac,Briggo had to be the men of the 50s ??
-
I was never a fan of Tai i thought he was overated but i was totally wrong thought he should of have to of qualified for his second stint in the series. But he worked bloody hard took his chance and how i admire him for that people also forget he lost his Dad along the way how hard was that but he came through. What young lad would not listen to Tai ? not many i would suggest and in a way it hurts me to think that Craven( maybe) PC, Lee have won less titles ( Different days) but i want Tai to win more World titles.
-
Dont ask Norbold the same question 😀😀i can remember Briggo whipping Ove at the Abbey in his Wembley days but every dog has his day but seriously Ove was superior just.😂😤

And those days were alot BETTER in my view with local residents now having far to much clout about noise issues.A Polish lad who i work with who sometimes mechanics for K.K, Musielak, Zengy says in Poland alot of track facilities are open 6/7 days a week. This provides aquipment (parents who are poor) and most importantly teaches the kids on the mechanical side how good is that!!! this providing an opportunity to keep kids off the street and there are shedloads of talent out there in Poland. I dont mind you to be honest Robert but on this topic best you say nothing.

Were they the days of local land owners being able to do what they wanted on there land? i believe Kenny Carter's wealthy dad had land and Kenny practiced alot there.I can also remember Swindon speedway having a training day with the legend Broady which was a sucess and helped the likes of Barry Duke.My friend also told me Briggo once turned up with a bike on the back did some training and laps around the huge car park and there was a huge crowd there different days eh!
-
Bruiser in that period what aload of virtual novices came through to start there careers,at the likes of Romford.Chris/Dave Morton, Pc, Wilko, Broadbelt,Hiftle,Pusey ( with the spots) Eyre, and endless others as you said some had grasstrack and moto cross experience as well. Was that Belle Vue training day with Oliver on a Saturday ? 10 to 6 or something like that i know a couple of people who attended it.
-
Can we go off topic and talk about who was the better rider Briggo or Ove or is that not aloud WK.??😀😜🤓

A different era different league in the 70/80s we were top dogs all the best like Penhall had to come here to ride look what we have now a crying shame.
-
Vatcher is a very decent man but he could do with some help so why would we not take it with Tai's input?but in this sport we have always been the same we never pull together as one.
-
I dont think he ever back.stabbed did he? just said it how it was a kebab in a cafe a example. And say what you want we are light years behind other countries in developement of riders without parents and backers money our riders get very little help from our set up.But we do have some really good enthusiastic people like Vatcher and i cant knock him a very decent man.
-
Yob i just dont see it for me he has been brilliant, the times he has been on Talk Sport he has spoke well and has done a great job for speedway. Also he does connect with the younger generation whether we like it or not my take is always see the good side of someome we all have a negative side.
-
They will do there best of course maybe ROWE will come through longterm i hope so i think the management are looking to see if they get the numbers to run a NL side fulltime.Last years numbers against Coventry was a success, and i hope we do go NL fulltime.Do i care if we win NO for me as long as maybe a Rowe or someone else can come through over a period and be part of our future.
-
Totally disagree "Islander this league is about giving young riders a chance to develop and of course everyone will try to win.But winning in this league for me is a added bonus if any team can give a platform for the likes of Hume,Jenkins,JPB, Brennan,(ect) to improve surely that is the longterm aim.?
-
I believe the parents and the backers are the ones that push kids through we are trying hard but without the parents nothing would happen.
-
I hope so to he has alot to offer, so why not take advantage of his experience.I am amazed how much stick he takes on this forum i dont suppose he gives a s... though.😜

Steve my Mum/Dad moved house in 1986,and i bought my first house then i went round to get my stuff a week or two later my mum had got rid of alot of my memorabilia.I was gutted i have now got it back up together mainly off of eBay and friends luckily all my autographs/ pictures were saved all me Penants gone though that still hurts.Going back to the books Richard Bott was very good and i have most of his stuff.
-
My favourite all time pictures that i have in order are 1.Tom Farndon with Dicky Case 1935 Wembley 2. A Briggo picture leading Mauger at Hyde Rd 1970/71? and Tommy Jansson a superb action picture in the Mike Patrick book 1976.
-
At this level should anyone expect to win anything surely the NL should not be about that.
-
John Chaplin has written some brilliant books and i also have all the Briggo books all signed but my favourites have to be the two Carter books. Also the Jansson and Boocock books are great reads also have any on here got the four small Daily mirror books 1970/71/72/73? they were great value.
-
Yes mate you are right, real quality what about MICK KILBY forgot about him got some great photos from him from my early years at the Abbey. On the dear side you used to go up the stairs to the now FIVE STAR restaurant 😀😜🤓 and Mick's pictures were in the window they were top class as well.
-
As much as i would love to stay at the Abbey and i would put up with it but it is looking mighty tired now.A new stadium is why people got on side, if we all get SKANKED now and the speedway is taken away from us i do believe the Abbey will be flattened. That is hard anough love the place but no new stadium that would be heartbreaking and if that happens no more watching speedway live for me again.

Now that Danyon is out for a while i think Connor should stay at seven a bit easier than being at number 6.Connor has shown real promise away he been decent i think being at 7 should bring him on confidence wise. The right move by the management for Danyon/Connor to share reserve berths only fair now Connor should stay at 7 until Danyon comes back.
