  1. Totally agree all British kids should get preference great that Belle Vue did it and they have Bickley still as well and Ipswich who give Hume and Mountain there chance Vision that's all that is needed not short termism.
  2. Really looking forward to it, and Ayres is great value i am really looking forward to seeing Atkins/Hampshire.Boxall for me is still a Champs rider and his battles with Ayres should be good also great to see Lee Smart from a great speedway family back.
  3. Would you name anybody else who could of been world champion? i think Jansson certainly would of been and i thought Crump if he had kept his Streety engine aside had chances in 1975/76.
  4. Jessup i was never a fan but in reality he had a better year than Lee in 1980 (Lee comeback from bad back injuries) and you could make a case he was unlucky with efs in World Finals.
  5. Warren,Sigalos,Adams,Jessup(not a fan) Autrey,Carter, were riders i believe at certain stages of there career were good anough to be WC.Autrey also had the nightmare like Crump to have to ride in the ultra tough Usa/Australian rounds unforgiving a EF a fall out you go.
  6. Scott Autrey for me was my favourite ever American rider,a class rider and a great bloke. In 79 he made his stance against the Authorities and never entered the WC it i believe he could of been world champion that year.78/79 he had two great years and he had every chance in both he like a number of riders ie) Warren,Adams,Sigalos, were good anough to be world champion but it never quite happened for them.I had the pleasure of seeing Scott in 1980 not quite the force of old but was still a class act and i can remember he also was a popular team man ie) with Kilby,Gresh,Holloway.79 was his year he was superb and i would say Mauger was the only rider better than him around the County Ground but he also has his success against Ivan.
  7. I see Nathan for a whole season at Swindon and at the start he really struggled but he stuck at it and for about two months rode really well.I think he has improved since then and his job is to beat some of the other two pointers if he does that he has done his job good luck to the lad anyway.
  8. I think Hume is nearly impossible to replace at home, Shane's being the only one capable of doing it.I think Greaves has improved but Ipswich do look weak at reserve now.
  9. A different world now Moxey but i think a couple will come through and challenge Cook/Lambert in the future at domestic level anyway.
  10. Yes mate hope it is supported well anough so we may have a NL team again in the future if we have a track.😞
  11. Going through the averages Danyon Hume and Danny Phillips were the top two 2 pointers in the championship. Both had put 2.5 on there average a real shame both are injured now fingers crossed both comeback fully fit raring to go.
  12. Parkinson Blackburn, Bewley,Hume,Brennan,Bickley,Jenkins,Shanes,( Flint,Mcgurk, Thompson brothers in the future) the future looks very bright.I just hope these riders get prolonged chances as they will have tough periods and need to be aloud to ride there way through it.The unlucky Danny Phillips at Newcastle was a great example of that happening have faith and some of these will come through.
  13. A great prospect and he will be a Gp rider in time, but these tracks over here are chalk/cheese from what he has experienced so far.And also i think there is a zero chance of him coming over here i think his schedule is pretty full but it would be a great tonic for England if he did come over.
  14. I think it was the same with Tony Lomas he struggled at Leicester and upped his game when he got his move to Exeter. Also didnt they also try to force Ole to go to Hull and he refused the offer.
  15. Kilby and Ashby had some memorable second half races, and Kilby could hold his own.Funny that both had great stints at Exeter yet both did not want to go there and really disliked the County Ground.Ashby i felt 1975 was a great year for him got in the WTC team some achievement that and i can remember him winning the Victor Ludurunn second half final after the Final in Norden.
  16. For me when i first started going to speedway, i always looked forward to seeing the visiting no 1.Thats probably why i was never against the old tac sub rule because an extra ride usually in heat 8 would come the visiting no1s way.In those days sometimes you might only see a team once a year so it was always something to look forward to a bit different now.
  17. Palm Toft is he two high ? or maybe Auty whoever it is we need a change at reserve a couple of extra points could be vital.
  18. If Swindon did make a change at reserve how many points have we to play with.?
  19. Poole were a poor team for a number of years, and in 1982 were rock bottom with only 9 points and that was with Autrey and Davis in the side.I think that is where something has to change now ENTERTAINMENT should come before winning that is why it is a myth about bringing the GP stars back would improve the racing.Last year the NL fixture between Swindon v Coventry was one of the best meetings i saw last year so just shows you any level of racing can be entertaining.
  20. How strange and fickle it is to just go when you are winning? surely it is about enjoying the racing.
  21. No not as much as i would of liked and as much as the Lynn fans of course but anough first see him in the Silver Plume at Swindon.Endless individual meetings Coventry British Finals White City Commonweaith finals Manpower (ect) in which he had a decent record.England v Usa meetings he did the Phil Crump testimonial also from 75/84 Lee crammed in quite alot of meetings. Can you remember every meeting you see him in? i can baring in mind i was at school most of his career quite happy.
  22. Lee being a NL no 1 at the age of 16 reaching the NLRC will never happen again and the NL was a hard league. Also being able to beat and compete with the likes of Mauger,Olsen, ect) at aged 16/17 a one off just a shame about his career but i was lucky anough to see Michael ride quite alot so i am pleased about that.
  23. Didnt realise looking back how many WC qualifying rounds there were loads certainly at Oxford and Swindon. But the good thing was some of the rounds looked weak but you always had at least four stars in each ie Briggs Middleton, Ashby, Kilby, Wilson the crowds always held up.And there was still a chance for the underdog to compete something that is missing today.
