Or was Jonathan seen as a threat and was never aloud to implement his own ideas.? I dont know anything at all about the bloke but i have only heard good things about him .We have a guy at Swindon Lee Kilby who is of the same ilk as Jonathan a modern time guy who has time to listen to people and Swindon are lucky to have him on board.

Briggo was a big guy and had quite a awkward riding style not the best technical rider not by a long chalk. As Norbold said he was well beatable there but i often think that one year riding there taught him one hell of alot and helped him prolong his career and stay world class until 1972.When i think of small track riders i always think of Gordon Kennett he left a small track and conquered White City. Then i feel he should of moved to Swindon rather than go back to Eastbourne riding a technical track then going to a racey track is very difficult.

Any news on the pressday IF??? it is on maybe on Thursday 24th March or Thursday 4th April.?
-
I agree with that totally, and that is what is disappointing bigcatdiary. Sometimes you have to change and agree to something that maybe you don't agree with to help push the sport forward
-
But like him or loathe him you cannot deny that he has done some good thing's over the years which has enabled him to survive the test of time in speedway.Speedway has failed mainly in this Country because people do not work together to much self interest gets in the way.

What matches had the biggest attendance in Speedway history?
Sidney the robin replied to Kempol's topic in Years Gone By
The Katowice 1976 PC winning year was a huge crowd and also was the Penhall 1981 year crowd figure accurate or were the figures rigged.?? -
The biggest difference is the crowds were alot bigger then it didnt matter so much if fans missed the odd match. Now there are even some of the diehards missing some meetings because they have found other stuff to do.
-
The reality is some of the fans are pretty fickle and winning is everything there are a percentage of fans now who will just pick and choose there meetings.

I cant quite get my head around that people are prepared to watch crap racing and be happy as long as they win.At Swindon my biggest gripe over the last five years or longer is that the entertainment element has been generally poor. The tinkering of rules and averages (ect) out weigh the responsibility of putting on a good show and making fans feel they have had a good evening. Some weeks i have gone home and thought to myself god i really enjoyed that other weeks i could not wait to get home. For me the ENTERTAINMENT aspect is the most important thing without that what have you got.

Some really interesting views there the four riders that i think could make or break a teams fortunes are Morris- Holder-Kurtz- Lidsey and the four riders i think could be vulnerable are Proctor- Wells- Barker- K.Andersen.

The old one City???
-
I think there will be changes in this team maybe Puk might comeback later in the season.

Barry Bishop might not have all the answers but his attitude is a breath of fresh air this guy has terrific man management skills. His interaction with the fans is top notch and he could do great things for British speedway.I posted once that i wanted to go the Isle of Wight at some stage this year and it was difficult for me to get a late train back to Swindon from Southampton. He got back to me straight away give me times and advice on what to do and even offered to let me watch a race from the middle of the track.I was absolutely flabbergasted on how helpful and genuine he is and i really hope the Isle of Wight go on and get stronger as a club I would love them to go in the Prem at some stage. -
I think Toft is only a reserve and i feel he is decent but know more than that can he move up to replace Kerr in the top five No in my opinion.
-
I think King's Lynn without Puk are still weak at reserve Proctor for me is the one that hinders the team building of this team.I might be proved wrong but i will be very surprised if Proctor reaches the same average again.
-
I will say Webby people have piped up a lot to be honest i feel Lynn with Lambert/Puk would of had a great spearhead anyway good luck enjoy your racing.
-
It is very strange Bagpuss, it is like opening a new restaurant but not telling anyone the menu.!!! I thought maybe they could of been frightened of announcing that Puk was not doing this season.A real shame as that top two is a very potent one and i feel Puk would of been on it this year..
-
To be honest that even makes it more laughable.
-
No Niels though who would of been fitter and would of made a great spearhead with Robert.
-
The stadium issue as you know is well out of Swindon speedway's management hands. We all believed the stadium would happen but i am just pleased the club is still operating.
-
Was that side worth waiting for.?
-
New Cross i wondered what sort of track was it? i know it was small but was it fast or technical.?Crayford is the smallest track i have been to and being a big Briggo fan i have always wondered how he got around New Cross so well even though it was not one of his better tracks.
-
You look at the way your club is run by Mr Ford he is a modern promoter he does consider the fans because he knows they are his bread/ butter.. Without the fans he has nothing, what disappoint's me is that i still feel with everyone pulling together in the same direction the sport can get through this tough period. But it feels like the fan does not have a voice and are invisable gutting really because the sport we all love can still be exciting. It is a good job us Brits are not like the Germans because when they are unhappy they show it by there feet by not turning up.

We have a track we have a team that was put in place by December and touch wood the season will commence at the Abbey. At King's Lynn well what a total shambles supporters ( the paying customer) taken for granted kept in the lurch and the worrying thing is it is run by the frontman of British speedway.By the way King's Lynn are a great club with loyal supporters who will stick by the club but for me they deserve alot better.
